The Receptionist didn't know the difference between local and general anaesthetic which I found concerning. And the dentist wanted to removed all of my wisdom teeth with local and at least two of them were severely impacted and lying horizontal. Went for a second opinion straight away and was told I would need to have an oral surgeon remove the wisdom teeth under general anaesthetic. I was quite shaken after that.

It's run out of a house in a residential Brunswick neighbourhood, and from the moment you step inside you can tell that it's a different kind of dental practice. Dr Helen Arabatzis and her staff are caring, friendly and professional and will do everything they can to make you feel at ease. They practice a 'less is more' philosophy with a focus on prevention, and will not insist on invasive dental work unless it is absolutely necessary. Eg, I had a few smallish spots of decay that another dentist had insisted required fillings (and the cost of several hundred dollars), but Dr Arabatzis said that it would be better to monitor them and put in some sealants to prevent further decay. Two years later, they haven't changed, and I still haven't needed fillings. Hooray! Let's face it, going to the dentist isn't something anyone looks forward to. But with their laid-back family practice vibe, fantastic facilities, and patient-first treatment practices, Brunswick Family Dental is as good as it gets!
