I go to a place in East Hampton now that costs about the same for a gel pedicures and with just a "classic" (no frills) service, they INCLUDE a 5 minute massage of each leg (set a timer and show you) and you get the exfoliating as well as some lotion- you feel like a million bucks after (or a billion, with inflation these days)... Nail House doesn't seem "worth it" anymore by comparison. With that being said, its conveniently located (not the most ideal parking lot) and is very clean, friendly and accommodating.

First off, my mom's nail tech had no clue what she was doing. She started scrubbing my mom's feet without even submerging them in water--how is that even possible for a proper pedicure? Then, when it came time to paint her nails, my mom had two broken nails. She repeatedly told the tech they were broken and needed acrylics, but the tech ignored her and then accused her of not mentioning the issue. Seriously? The situation got worse when the owner stepped in. Not only did they leave my mom sitting there with no one working on her for 20 minutes, but she was surrounded by all the techs, talking in a different language, making my mom feel extremely uncomfortable. Finally, someone came over to finish her pedicure--but by then, my mom was already distressed and humiliated. Then came the bill. The owner charged us $175 for two pedicures--and swiped my mom's card without even confirming the price or services with us. We were told the gel polish would be $55, but clearly, that wasn't the case. To top it all off, the nails started falling off 24 hours later. This place is not only unprofessional but downright rude and money-hungry. The owner is a condescending liar, and the entire experience was horrendous. Save yourself the stress and DO NOT go here

THEN....put lotion on my shoulders (he asked first) then massaged my upper back and arms. This was better than any massage I have ever had. They have a huge nail polish selection! They also have a loyalty card. Be sure to bring cash for a tip because you cannot add it on your card. If you forget they have an ATM in the place with only a 49 cent fee. It's very important to me that the place is clean, plays relaxing music, and smells good - if a salon smells like the awful chemicals they use, I can't take it. We usually get regular pedicures and either regular or gel manicures. The nail techs always do an excellent job - thorough and precise. My mom has extremely short nails which she bites and they are kind and help her feel less embarrassed as they care for her hands and teach her to do better herself. It's a little pricey compared to my home state salon but I think it's standard for this area. There are many good reasons that keep me returning as does Mom who eschewed salons for years due to self-consciousness about her nails. Keep up the great job, Uponavon!

I was very happy when I called to make an appointment and the woman on the front desk was kind, helpful and understandable. when I arrived the salon was clean, empty (but it was a Monday) and I liked the atmosphere, the light jazz was a good touch. I put up no argument and gladly opted for the most expensive spa pedicure. The tech nicked the top of my right toe (sensitive skin) with a nail file. luckily it didn't bleed but as the pedicure went on she sprayed my toes with pure alcohol several times and wow that burned. as an industry professional she should have been using something like sea breeze (it would have been ok only to wipe the nail with alcohol not spray it over the tops of the feet. it progressed when (and this happens almost everywhere) she violently exfoliated my legs with scrub. I'm not here to solicit free advice but scrub does the work on its own, a gentle touch is all you need. I don't want to have my skin scrubbed off: again. ow! The massage was hurried, and missed the key sensory points -- all I can say is there shouldn't be any rushed or hurried movements in the spa industry, to be blunt the massage just didn't feel good, it also lacked pressure. I skipped my manicure all together, but the tech redeemed herself on the back massage as I was drying which delivered the pressure and key tension spots but overall I don't know if I would go back. Still on the hunt for the best spot.
