Not only were the staff fantastic in vet care, they also helped me walk through options, get set up with the specialist, and provide great care whenever we are in town. We're sad to lose them when we move away from VA, but so appreciative and grateful - they even gave great tips on what to look out for in our new area! Never going back. I have never been treated or talked to the way the owner of this place did…read moretoday. I took my cat in for an abscess. I just moved to the town a little over a week and haven't unpacked all my belongings yet in order to bring in the records for my cat. He was up to date on his rabies shot but I needed vetco to verify it with them. The vet came out and told me they were still on hold and I replied I would try to access the records online. Not even 2 minutes passed that I found the rabies certificate and called the front desk to let them know I had it and they could hang up. She said "ok, thanks we will be right out." The vet came out and said she already gave him the rabies shot(without my consent) and was still charging me for it. I paid the $157 Bill for "laser therapy" 2 antibiotics, office visit and rabies charge and left. Upon talking to another friend that had a similar experience I called in to talk to the owner(because giving immunizations without the owners consent with multiple individuals is a problem in my opinion and needs to be handled.) she replied in a snippety tone, "well people lie all the time and it's against the law for us to treat/release an animal without proof of rabies vaccinations...we also don't have time to wait around for 3 hours while people sit in their cars in the parking lot...but since I'm feeling EXTRA generous today, I'll refund the rabies shot." I told her that I'm not the type of person that lies, especially about things of that nature, and I found the records in less than 3 minutes, not 3 hours. I made the example that if you go in for an oil change and they charge you for new tires that were needed without your consent, you'd be irritated too. She didn't get it. I was refunded the 20$, but unfortunately the owner's stick Wasn't dislodged.

Dr. Belbey suggested surgery for Oreo's mouth issue, but after much discussions, we decided to not put Oreo through surgery. Instead, we were able to purchase an antibiotic every couple of months to give to Oreo to keep the mouth issue at bay. With the kidney failure, we kept in touch with Trista....Tuesday, Oreo had issues walking. We all thought it was a "by product" of kidney failure. Turned out Oreo had a stroke. And we had to say goodbye to Oreo today. I so appreciate the way Dr. Belbey and Trista helped up say goodbye to Oreo. I've had to put to sleep 2 other cats.....this was the best experience of the 3. Thank you, Dr. Belbey and Trista!

As a veterinarian they provide adequate care. Because they must schedule their route for the day…read moreand the week, you can't be squeezed in the schedule. So if your pet has a sudden illness you must find another vet. If that pets illness takes a turn for the worse and you need to euthanize, they will tell you take your pet somewhere else. In our experience we never got to speak directly with the vet. Only through the vet tech, so getting answers to questions took multiple calls.

We had new patient checkups on both and I recently had a follow up for the old man. Dr. Lisa is a gentle soul with him ( and probably every animal ) and wants to do everything in her power to make him comfortable. However, she is not one to over prescribe nor to order every test available. Such a conservative approach is very welcome. And she actually listens to me as a dog mom and takes my wants ( and budget!) into consideration.

From physicals to dentals to every question in between - I am so glad to have someone who is as knowledgable and skilled as she is caring. We recently had to put our elderly cat to sleep and Dr. Hoy and the entire staff of MAH did such an amazing job throughout it all. Dr. Hoy took the time to discuss our cat's health and I so appreciate that. She answered all of our questions patiently and gave us time/space to process everything. I don't think anyone can really prepare for the grief that comes from the loss of a pet. I had never had to navigate this before, but MAH did a great, great job. It's hard to put it in words, but I am forever thankful for their care. I now recommend MAH to all my colleagues new to the area. So glad to find such an excellent medical home for our fur babies.

He spends a significant amount of time with us during each visit and has been available via text and phone calls after hours and even during the weekend. I arrive 10 minutes early for my appointment, as they suggest, and I've waited 25 minutes just to be called back to a room. Then I wait between the tech and the doctor for another 15-20 minutes. I appreciate how straight forward they have always been with me about the dos/donts of vaccines and medications. They aren't using fear tactics to pump your pet with the most expensive medicines available. I am switching to another vet and one of the vet techs at Ridge, Kiersten, gave me a call in regard to a chewy prescription I requested (less than 24 hours ago) and some helpful advice. She gave me everything I needed to move over to the new vet along with some recommendations on what my pets will need. When Dr. Gates left it was still good because Dr. French was still there and everything you know you could call and they would fit you in. Now that they've been taken over by some people in California they don't take emergency pets in. They don't try to fit you in. They do seem to be a little condescending a couple of the vets. There are really, really good. We really like them. Dr. French is gonna be retiring soon. He only does surgery. We've decided that to get better care for our three animals we have to go to another vet people who still use Ridge might have a better experience, but after taking my dogs there for over 35 years to get treated like you can't fit us in because some company that's out in California says you can't do that. That's a bunch of BS. Good luck to anybody who wants to use Ridge or still use his Ridge they might be better for you.
