I love this place. We've stayed here multiple times--in our RV in one of the RV slots and at other times in the motel--and have always been pleased with everything. We stayed most recently last weekend in room 3 which is a King room. The separate zones in the room are nice--kitchenette for early morning coffee and a bistro table the right size for a laptop--the recliners in the middle of the suite if you want to lean back and put your feet up, and finally the sleeping area with its own TV. Front and back doors are great for taking the dog out, and the back door leads to the water and the wonderful Tiki Bar. Mo, the owner, is so sweet. Whenever we pass her on the property she asks if everything is going OK. As a guest, I always feel like if I need something or have a question that there is someone around to help. The location of course is the star here. Sitting out in the basket chairs, or on the porch swing, or in some of the other conversation and viewing areas so thoughtfully placed and staring at the gorgeous water and sky will cure a lot of ills, believe me. I've visited LowKey Hideaway during good times in my life and during some dark times a few years ago, and the glorious Cedar Key water and skies always soothe. read more

On a whim my husband, our two dogs and I took off for a one overnight road trip to Cedar Key. On the drive there I perused reviews on Yelp to decide where to stay for the night. Low-Key Hideaway was our choice and we were not disappointed. Quaint clean room with kitchenette and back door to lovely yard overlooking the gulf. A Tiki bar is right in the back as well which is perfect for watching the sunset on the deck. We will be back and for more than one night! read more

If you are expecting an rv park with amenities for $100+ a night- this is not it. 2 toilets and 1 shower for the bar and rv park combined, no picnic tables, no fire pits and as for being "pet friendly", there isn't really any place to walk your dog except on the highway. Great view of sunsets is a plus. read more

We haven't stayed in either of the rv spots or the motel but I am here to review the Tiki Bar. This place is a locals favorite with kind of a "Cheers" atmosphere where you'll get a loud welcome as you walk in. Nowadays it's open every night from about 4pm to 9 or 10 depending on the crowd and the weather. Improvements have been made - if you can call doors and windows an improvement! Oh and there is a nice wood burning stove for those chilly winter nights when the weather stops by. And along with some nice craft beers they also now have a full liquor license so there is absolutely no excuse not to stop by! Cindy and Pat will make you feel as if you're a long lost friend and encourage you to sit down and make yourself at home, so why not?! Just an FYI, this is not a No-Smoking establishment and with those new windows and doors it can sometimes be a little painful if you're not a smoker... read more

You can easily walk to town for meals and sightseeing., but this stop is truly about relaxing and getting away from it all. We just spent a long weekend with 3 other couples at the Low-Key Hideaway, taking up the four rooms that share the back porch. We had an outstanding time! Frank and Mo are not running a five star hotel, but they have nice, clean, well-appointed rooms,the grounds are eclectic old Florida. The Tiki bar was nice, the scenery great, but Frank and Mo seal the experience. They run a good business, but are as down to earth as can be. Every interaction with them was like they had been part of our group of friends for years. Not in an intrusive or awkward way, but because they are genuinely nice people. I've stayed in much pricier places, but don't recall having the experience of watching the sunset on the Gulf of Mexico, while having a beer with the owner who was playing a Warren Zevon album he thought we would like. I cannot recommend the Low-Key Hideaway enough! read more

If you want old Florida before the Disney rat empire, this is it. Cedar Key is wonderfully undeveloped. No McDonalds or Walgreens or even a chain grocery store. Want to buy something? Go to a local market or restaurant owned by someone who lives there. Need a Walmart? 60 miles round trip. Plenty of music and drinking in Dock St or the Tiki bar at the Low Key Hideaway (LKH). I've stayed at several hotels off Dock St, but none match the kitschy charm of LKH. Five rooms recently remodeled thanks to hurricane Hermione. 4 of the 5 rooms are King bed suites including a microwave, stove top burner and full fridges. Be warned room 1 has a double bed and opens to the front of the hotel on the road. The other 4 open both ways, with the back doors opening to a covered patio only steps to the Tiki bar. The Tiki bar is a converted fish house with the coolest collection of stuff I've ever seen. Shannon (Shamrock) and Sam (Samantha) are fabulously skilled at making drinks. As a bonus Samantha is a talented singer and guitar player. The Tiki enjoys nightly spectacular sunsets that alone are wort visiting LKH. Finally, there is Mo the owner and operator of the property. She is a pistol, will definitely talk to you and will give it to you straight. As I said to someone- if you are shy, just nod at her! Mo and her pal Frank are insistent on certain policies. The big one is NoKids ! The bar is right in SR 24 and I mean maybe 25 feet from the edge of the asphalt, really dangerous for youngsters. Finally, the pier is high and also dangerous for kiddos. This review is of the RV spaces at Low-Key. Warning: Stay away from this place!!! (cuz ya know, we want to come back!) Former full time RVers, Pat & Cindy, run this unique motel, RV Park and Tiki Bar (yes, you read that right.. TIKI BAR!!!). It's really hard to describe this place, and we just didn't believe it until we were there. There are 4 RV slots - all water front. There are 5 motel suites on site... each with color coordinated parking curbs & front porch lights. Seriously. And a Tiki Bar. Oh, and a dock out on the water for amazing sunset views and DOLPHINS!!!! There is so much care and attention that has gone into this place, it's unbelievable. The resort is adult only - absolutely no kids allowed. It is refreshing to see a place take a stand and be a dedicated couple's retreat. And nice that 'adult only' doesn't mean 55+. The RV spots are decent in size and setup so that hook-ups can be reached if you back in or go noise in - a nice touch! (Ok Ok.. gotta find some bad stuff so you'll stay away and we can get in later. ) But really, these are just 'slots' to pull your rig into and not much distinction between spots - we felt little privacy. There are decks, hammocks and chairs along the water front for lounging (wait.. that's a good thing... oh crap, you're calling to book now, right??). Hwy 24 runs right by this location, and there is considerable highway noise - as nothing is blocking it. That car or truck traveling 35mph every 30 minutes is going to drive you crazy !!! Horrrible, horrible.. stay away!!! The other downside is that if there's a lot of folks at the Tiki Bar (open Thur - Sun evening.. but the bartender is whimsical and opens it anytime he can sell a beer), your RV site can feel a bit like a party. OMG.. people! Friendly, awesome, amazing people! They'll want to **talk** with you! You don't want that. Ok.. here we go. This will keep you stay way. The WiFi was not configured to work with our Macs, which was disappointing. Yeah.. that was miserable. You don't want to stay here. We had to resort to using our solid AT&T & Verizon 3G signal to get online. It was pure torture to have have to be online with amazing views like that. All and all, we'll return - if only for the friendly service and unique atmosphere. Ya know... cuz the rest sucks. If you stay away, our spot stays open. But if you do book here.. give Cindy & Pat a hug for us, ok? read more

Wow! My wife picked this place randomly and boy what a find! 5 rooms, a tiki bar and gracious owners (Mo & Frank)! No big box corporations on the Key but great places to eat, socialize and Chill-lax! If we could only pick one RV Park to visit, this would be it. It's a small place (5 motel rooms, 4 RV spots, and the awesome Tiki Bar), but well worth the trip. The owners have created a great place to unwind and enjoy. Guests and locals gather in the evening at the Tiki and everyone makes new friends. It's not a "resort" and you won't find concrete pads and fancy patios, but you'll leave more relaxed than you could have imagined. read more

We also used one of their 3 RV spots to charge our Tesla the first night, and found the hookups new and in perfect working order. The Tiki Bar out back was an awesome hangout, even for the locals. Although this is an old motel, we enjoyed our stay there, and were pleased with the accommodations. We especially appreciated the view over the bay from our street side window. Like I said, this is an old motel and not the kind of rooms that you would want to spend the entire day. There are some things that could've been bruised up a little more. But overall, if you're at a resort and you're not spending your day in the room, it was a great place to stay. Even though it was on the main street there wasn't any traffic noise or anything like that that disturb us in the evening. read more

My review is long over due. My husband Wade and I took the coastal tour on our way back from a family wedding in Tampa back in June. The Low-Key Hideaway was our first stop, thank God we stayed two nights. The place looked eclectic, it is. But it was so much more. This is not your typical stay on the key place. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The rooms are taken care of with love. The sunsets and wild life beautiful. The owners are friendly, outgoing and easy to hang out with. The Tiki bar is well taken care of and put together with love. The personality of the Hideaway will stay with us forever. We are from Chicago and this was the best part of our trip home. We stayed 6 more nights along the Gulf, but nothing was as memorable as our 2 nights at the Hideaway. I highly recommend this place and these awesome owners. Laurah read more
