I've been dealing with them for years, and now bring my older kid along to help - she actually loves coming, cause its kind of a treasure hunt, and has learned a lot about taking care of her own car from start to finish, cheap. The 12 YO boy is pretty jealous, but he'll be allowed in when he's 16. Selection and prices are as good as you could expect, and they will be helpful on the phone if you do your research and don't waste their time. I'm always sure to thank them for their help, because them allowing customers in is a privilege to us. I hope these guys are around for another 30 years at least.

We were with another St. Albans propane company for close to 20 years. The service with their…read morelatest change of ownership became deplorable. I'm talking about things like taking almost a month to deliver propane in January and then being told that we'd have to pay an emergency delivery fee even though they kept saying they'd deliver next week and then not show up. We were getting nervous at that point because they did let our neighbor, a couple on automatic delivery, run out while they were away. Thankfully their son caught it before the pipes froze. The company's rate of $4.59 a gallon for usage of 300 gallons a year was also an issue with us. We check state reports on average rates throughout the area and when asked why their rates were so high, we were told that other companies have hidden catches. Then, the final straw came when I paid the bill and had proof that the payment cleared my bank account, they kept saying that we hadn't paid and threatened to send us to collection and charged us late fees on top of it. I sent them a copy of the statement that showed the payment was submitted electronically to them and it still took another two weeks to get the situation cleared up. Clearly, their billing department is unorganized. All of these situations made it clear that despite supporting this company for nearly 20 years, it was time to cut ties. Seeing their BBB.org rating plummet to an F also helped solidify that they weren't really working hard to improve things. We started shopping around going with the different companies - Amerigas/Liberty, Bournes, and Rowley. In each case, we simply felt Liberty was there for the customer and not their wallet. After another neighbor switched to Amerigas/Liberty and told us they loved it, we filled out the applications and made the switch There has been one minor glitch that involved us not being told that we had to pay for set-up. I'd asked about fees mentioned in the contract and was told there were no fees. When we were comparing rates, two other area companies told us the first hour of labor is free for set-up, so we assumed that was standard practice in this area. We got our bill and found a charge for set-up. After asking why we hadn't been told, the company quickly acknowledged that we should have and deducted that charge from our account. It took a matter of minutes, I'm not kidding either, it was about five minutes in all to get an answer, something that's refreshing in today's world. Customer service is clearly important to Liberty, and we certainly appreciate being treated like we matter. I would definitely recommend Liberty Propane! We're hooked up and extremely happy. We received our first shipment of propane within one business day of calling to order it, something that hasn't happened in years. Plus, getting a bill for just over $200 instead of the $450 we were paying to get 100 gallons is simply refreshing. If you're still with the company that I haven't mentioned, but many of their customers will know exactly who I'm talking about, make the switch. It's really worth it!

This was an out-of-state delivery (to Connecticut). We were impressed by the professionalism at every step of the way. We didn't want to be surprised by "unexpected" additional costs when our furniture was delivered. Heidi's quote was higher than competitors but seemed much more reasonable compared with past moves. In the end, the final cost was a little lower than the estimate. More than fair cost for the value of the work done. Well done, Heidi! Justin, Matt, and Brad showed up promptly on the scheduled day to pack us. Polite, responsible -- and efficient! They packed boxes and protected the furniture well. They finished early enough to start loading the truck that day and came back the following day to finish loading. They arrived earlier than expected in Connecticut the following morning and unloaded very quickly. Furniture was positioned and reassembled as we wanted and boxes were placed in the correct locations. Amazing work! Nothing was lost. Nothing was broken. Despite the careful protection, there were minor scuff marks on a couple of pieces, but nothing worth trying to repair. On time, under budget, and in good order. It doesn't get better than that. During that time, Top Notch Roofing caused our home to flood, causing the bedroom ceiling to collapse and requiring full insulation and ceiling replacement. The living room developed two additional leaks due to their shoddy work, which meant more ceiling repairs and repainting the entire open-concept space. Our front yard was left destroyed after equipment and materials sat there for over 90 days. It wasn't just a mess; the material sat there for an entire summer; killing our lawn in the process. The crew was inconsistent at best; often no-shows, with little to no cleanup when they did come. When asked, they said they were from "Lowell"; which we assumed was local (Lowell, VT), but it turned out they were commuting from Lowell, MA. To our house in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Gabe and Drew built porch stairs that weren't up to code. When Dave, the owner, finally came to assess their work, he made them tear it out and rebuild it, but not before we were treated to the comedy gold that was Drew jumping up and down on the steps in an attempt to prove they were "fine." Dave also made everybody clean up the front yard, which took close to two hours between four people (Drew, Gabe, Jessica, Dave). Despite claiming on their website to be "fully insured," we learned that their insurance only covers subcontractors, not their own crew. So any work performed by Gabe or Drew or supervised by them isn't covered. Their own insurance company assessed $86,000 in damages to our home, and those are just the parts they acknowledged.
