Anyway, I had new reason to praise the libe this week. I had an editing job that, unlike most others, required AP style--and the job was due today. Luckily, the Norristown Library had the three most recent copies of the AP Stylebook. Unluckily, we're in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and most libraries take several days to make books available for curbside pickup, which would be too late for my project due date in two days. So I called the Norristown Library reference desk, explained that it was an emergency, and the librarian immediately found the book and made it available for me--in 15 minutes! Props to the reference librarian working the morning of 08-12-2020; she was professional and personable.

It's also nice that the books on hold are in a separate section where you can go look for it yourself rather than having to get in line to ask a librarian to locate it. There's also free wi-fi, of course, and lots of new books every time I go in. I almost always end up picking something out to read, though I don't always end up reading it. In addition to books and movies and such, museum passes are available at the library! Probably not terribly common knowledge for the most part, but this library makes it well-known by putting all of the museum passes up front. The downside of this is that the ones I'm interested in are often out. They also don't do reservations for it, so that part can be rough. Besides that, though, I'm a fan of this location and will continue to go check out their new offerings!

We especially liked the walking track around the large field hugging woods in parts. There was an icy patch down near a creek, but if you were careful to walk around on the grassy area, it didn't present itself as too much of a hazzard. If I lived in the area, it probably would be my favorite park for getting my steps in on a regular basis. The restrooms were closed for the season when we visited in late December.

If you want to come here to get work done on your laptop, seating with nearby outlets is limited, and there are no quiet spots in here, so you'll need high tolerance from library banter coming from the kid area, front desk, and the section where they are playing mahjong and other such games. There's a chess board, unfinished jigsaw puzzles, and comfy old style furniture around. Basically, this place is more geared towards a community center type of place for socializing rather than a "heads-down", getting work done type of place.

My STRONGEST my strongest advice is to read read read and be sure you have the documents that are needed for your type of transaction. I advised this due to personal experience.,lol. Generally speaking, allow several hours. Don't try to squeeze an appointment in before work or at lunchtime. Yes there may be times when it's not busy, but you don't wanna take that chance. And finally, when you get up to the desk inside the door be the first person to say good morning or good afternoon or anything pleasant to the person behind the desk. After the initial check-in after I received my number, I had to see an agent to review my application that I filled out after checking in at the front.
