I buy all my appliances at Lowe's. I've been a customer since I moved to NC in 1997. I have NEVER had a bad experience....until today, 29 July 2026. The "customer service" was....well, there WAS no customer service. Went into the Goldsboro store on Betkeley on July 20 to buy a new cook-stove. I've shopped at this store - and purchased appliances- here before. Bought a fridge, a freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer in the past 4 years there. I NEVER EVER imagined I'd experience issues, let alone the appalling treatment we received from Lowe's staff. We found exactly what we wanted - a GE 5-burner gas stove. A very nice store associate rang us up, scheduled delivery and said we would get it Wednesday! We were thrilled to get it so fast because we're disabled and can't afford to keep eating out. Wednesday arrives. We eagerly await our delivery......and wait......and wait.....and wait. At 5 pm I call the store. Their AI bot system assures me I'll get my stove today. Uh, obviously NOT. I call back, and spend several aggravating minutes convincing their bot that I need a real person. Finally it says it will route me to a customer service rep. A person answers, curtly says "will you hold" and slams me on hold without waiting for an answer. I wait on hold.....and wait.....and hang up at the 31 minute, 43 second mark (my mobile timed it). I try SEVEN MORE TIMES and am either slapped on hold, or their bot disconnects me. Finally my text message beeps. It says my order has been scheduled for delivery on Tuesday, July 28, between 9 am and 1 pm. There is no explanation for the delay or why my stove never arrived. I try to call again the next day. After getting switched around again, I finally get a warm body in the appliance dept. fortunately it's the same nice lady who sold me the stove, and she remembers. She says maybe the stove was out of stock. Why did nobody call me? "I don't know." I'm annoyed, but okay, at least it's coming. Tuesday, July 28. 1 pm arrives, and no stove. My roommate says he'll wait for the delivery while I take a nap. Maybe they are running late. i wake up at 4 pm - still nothing! I call Lowe's, and each time someone answers, slams me on hold and it rings again. This happens FOUR TIMES before I get a live person. He works in Lawn & Garden and can't help me. I am angry now and ask for a manager. He sends me to "Brian." "Brian" looks up my order (pay attention because that's important) and says the delivery may be late. Give it til 7. At 7 pm, nothing. We go to the store. The sales associate, who seems bored, looks up my order, shrugs, says it was cancelled and a refund is being issued. WHAT??? She doesn't know why. Why weren't we called? She says they did call and spoke to "Lauren" I don't even know anybody named Lauren! She says maybe we weren't home (we were). Then she says they emailed us (no they didnt) Was the stove discontinued? Why was my order cancelled? "I don't know" is every answer. I ask for a manager. We wait 6 minutes (that's after I got bored enough to time then). "Brian" arrives. He remembers talking to me but says "yes, and I told you to call if it didn't arrive" (implication: you should've called instead of coming in) How rude. He goes through the same bored "I dunno, I dunno, I dunno" as the girl. I tell him this is terrible customer svc, and he says "I haven't done anything to you, ma'am." (ARE YOU KIDDING ME??) I say he hasn't done anything FOR me, either. He says he doesn't know what else he can do because my order was cancelled. Why? "I don't know." (obviously doesn't care, either) Can we have a different model stove. HIS ANSWER; "If you buy it." (WHAT??! I HAVE ALREADY PAID LOWE'S EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!) Brian acts bored and annoyed, as if our presence pollutes his day. We demand a refund, and he smugly says it will be refunded to our charge card "in 4 to 7 days" That is almost another week. In the meantime we have no stove, and no money to buy another one! We're on disability and $800 is over half my monthly check alone. I go online to Lowe's Help and connect to "Renielyn" who is very kind and apologizes for the lousy (non-existent) customer service. She says my stove was supposed to be delivered but the delivery guys couldn't find it in the warehouse to load on their truck. (SO WHY WASN'T I CALLED?) She confirms my address and phone number are correct. Renielyn can deliver my order on August 4. I just want something to cook on! No earlier date is available. I ask for a text confirmation that she promises to send, but I still haven't received. I'm not confident I'll get my order but have no other option. I hav never, ever been treated so badly by Lowe's. I can't believe a customer who spent almost a thousand dollars that day means nothing to them. read more

The manager on duty Brian was rude n rushed me off infringe my right of freedom of speech. Refused to return a lawnmower I just got that clearly was used and rusted n busted wouldn't even start and no one would help me pick a difference mower . He got mad at me because I said return it or I'll call the law he mouthed off at me said leave and ripped me off on $1600 he should be fired or delt with by suspension and public apology to me and family. Wouldn't advise coming unless you are very familiar with what you need and don't need anything that's locked up. Store has plenty of inventory but seemingly no one around to assist you. Ran into several other customers who voiced the same issue. Finally found a large group of employees hanging out at the back of the store and when I asked one for assistance he acted like he had never heard of a stud finder. Later on while trying to get something out of a locked cage I had to go to the front of the store, find the singular employee around and ask her to call someone over to the aisle I was on. Fifteen minutes later and no one had come. Kind of ridiculous. read more

Was there to buy three rooms of carpet. Three workers walked by the help desk never acknowledged we were there. One worker finally came by, we told him what we needed he said I will be right back. We waited 30 minutes never saw him again. Before leaving we asked to speak with the manager. We explained what happened and the big sale they lost. He could have cared less. Never said he was sorry, never offered to help us. They just don't give a damn at the Goldsboro store. The store in Kinston and Smithfield are great. They hire dumbass at the Goldsboro location. Purchased a washer and Dryer; Dryer was delivered severely damaged and refused. No one ever contacted me to arrange a replacement. Tried calling my local store and after spending an hour to get through to someone, they picked up the phone and set it down beside them. Called Customer Care several times with no luck. After 3 days I ordered another dryer and paid for it - Upon delivery the replacement dryer was damaged too. I do not recommend purchasing anything at Lowes. After 25 years of doing business with Lowes, I've lowered my credit line and intend on closing my account entirely. Very disappointed in the quality of service and the major inconvenience. read more

I was in town visiting my mother in law and she needed a few small jobs done at her house so I ran up to Lowes to get a few items. There was one register open and it had 9 people in line. So i reluctantly went to self checkout. I rang up my own stuff couldn't figure out how to get the veteran discount. I got Marilyn to come over and I asked her. She said I couldn't get it without a Lowe's card. This is simply not true unless it is a NC thing. I am in the system and have gotten the discount in Richmond And Roanoke Va and in Lewisburg WV without a Lowe's card. Their installation service for appliances is a joke. We bought a new dishwasher on June 28th. They delivered it two days later, on the 30th. Then we had to wait THREE WEEKS for the installer to do an "assessment" (that we had to pay $35 for). Dude was here less than 10 minutes. Lowe's was supposed to call to set up the actual install, but after more than 48 hours, I hadn't heard a peep. Meanwhile, I'm stuck with a dishwasher with one usable rack. So I go up to Lowe's. Even though I had expressed my frustration with the "assessment" guy and he promised he would flag our install for priority, Lowe's hadn't received anything. So the Lowe's employee starts entering stuff in the computer, then retrieves the paperwork. I start looking at it and they wanted an additional $200+ for the install! And I had to pay it before they would even schedule anything! At this point, I was done. Told the employee helping me that I wanted the haul off fee refunded and I'd get my own installer. The employee did me one better. She refunded the haul off fee ($40) and the "assessment" fee ($35). It's really disappointing that 1) Lowe's is charging a fee just to have someone come look at your install like you don't have sense enough to measure your space before spending money on an appliance, and 2) that they've locked themselves into one installer who isn't available in a timely fashion. The last time I purchased an appliance from Lowe's, the install was a flat fee of $99 and the installer came the day after I purchased the appliance. The fact that Lowe's is now charging more than $200 is ridiculous. I won't be using their installation services again. read more

Once again, this Lowe's has poor customer service. Due to social distancing, customers are asked to wait in line at least 6 feet apart. That puts the customer, waiting to be checked out, standing equal distance away from two registers. One register has a customer, so you would think the other register would be the go to...nope. The employee working that register never looked up from his phone. He was too busy texting and scrolling. After about 2 or 3 minutes, the lady from self checkout came up to me and said she would check me out. Even she was mad at the texting employee. Please shut this store down. read more

I tried to return some laminate flooring which was a stock item. Lowes has a policy that they won't take anything back after 90 days this policy os only posted at the return desk. I was 3 days past the 90 days and they refused to take it back. A manager named Carl said he couldn't override. Evidently Lowes corporate does not give managers any discretion. (S)Lowes review Lifelong resident of Wayne County, I travel to many other areas in as well out of state and (S)Lowes in Goldsboro,NC is terrible. Suppose there just isnt a very good pool of employees to choose from in Wayne County.Been this way through many manager changes for decades now and the downhill slide continues to this day. It has nothing to do with the Wilson, NC, Kinston, Nc or Smithfield, NC stores or even the coastal Lowes stores. This is JUST (S)Lowes in Goldsboro they stink more than any other (S)Lowes I have visited ANYWHERE. Inventory is always lacking compared to neighboring (S)Lowes stores, customer service skills are non existent. There is a reason why this particular (S)Lowes store customer approval rating remains in the 70s% rather than 90s%. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE AT THIS STORE.Not worth the hassle to visit this store anymore as management doesnt care and real customers who are contractors local go to Goldsboro Builders, BDC, Baker Pipe, True Value, Crawford Furniture and Appliance etc to receive assistance and helpful service. I have to say that Kristy (not sure if that's the correct spelling) in Delivery went 100% above and beyond to make my experience positive. She made the difference between me never again shopping at any Lowe's and instead kept me as a grateful customer. Her response to our issue made up for the unacceptable "Customer Service" my husband experienced in the Kinston, NC Lowe's. Going forward, even though I live 3 miles from the Kinston store and 31 from the Goldsboro one, guess which store I will take my hard earned money to? Went to the Goldsboro n.c store to buy a mower I saw online. Didn't see one on display so went in for assistance. Young lady at customer service desk paged someone in seasonal dept. Never saw any one, couldn't get the young ladies attention so gave up and left. Tried to order online but delivery was scheduled at the start but once I paid showed "pickup " available date. I went into Lowes in Goldsboro, NC, to buy some lawn care needs, they were advertising one product and you will be getting another product free. I stopped one associate and he was in a hurry, no help. Secondly, I went to customer service to get someone page to come to lawn, finally an associate comes up and state that they were out of the free item. I explained to him to take the sign down until the free item is in, otherwise you are false advertising, take it down until you get the item. Then a manager shows up and hears me explain my perspective, again and again but nothing. They both looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. I used the example that if a person came into this store to buy this based on pictures, i.e. like an elderly person that could not read and then they proceed to the register to check out that it would be very embarrassing to them, just take the sign down or have an alternate product as a replacement. I called corporate customer service with same comments and all I wanted for a manager to call me and have a one on one dialogue about this. I will drive now to a Home Depot which is 1.5 hours away just to buy similar products. I will recommend to my friends, church members, co-workers, etc.to shop elsewhere. read more

I will have to see if prices are as low as the prices where I used to live in Wake Forest. I've lived in the Goldsboro area for 10 years and watched this Lowe's go down hill. Today was by far the worst experience at this store that I've ever had. The toxic company culture in this store is evident. Today, I listened a Lowe's employee cut a customer off who was asking for help and reply, "I just do returns". We asked for help with the location of a product and not only could the Lowe's rep not help, she never came back with someone who could, but I heard her dispatch someone to an aisle next to me. I moved aisles and waited for 5 mins before I gave up. At Check out the Lowe's rep didn't great us, didn't talk at all and didn't look at us. She rang up our items and told us the total. That was it. Bought a new lawn mower today...not because we wanted to but because we had a to...the short little man in the lawnmower department was lazy and had no desire or intention to help us. We didn't want the floor model but he was not going to go to the back and get another mower. We waited in line at customer service and they were just a lazy and the lawnmower man. Cutting in line, not saying excuse me, not going around the customers. Paying attention to each other rather than the growing line in front of them. Dennis I. About 4 years ago I received a Lowes gift card for Christmas. I used it to buy a 1/4 inch drive ratchet with an offset handle so you don't scrape your knuckles. Well it quit working. I can take things apart but the ratchet does not work so I can put them back together. I took it back to Lowes last year and was told they did not carry that model at that time, and could not give me a replacement. He even told me he thought it had been discontinued. I went to Lowes tonight and they told me they could not help me I would have to contact Kobalt myself. I went home and got on Kobalt's web site. I found it has not been discontinued. I went back to Lowes with the Item number and Model number. They had someone check and it is still a good number but they do not stock it. I ask "could you order one in and call me when it comes in so I can exchange it?' Their answer No you still have to go to Kobalt yourself. When I asked about the warranty I was informed "The warranty is with Kobalt not Lowe's". This place consistently deserves a 1 star review, but I don't go out of my way to leave reviews anywhere unless I've experienced something exceptionally bad or good. Yesterday, I came for liquid Sevin and epoxy (in a furniture application type amount). I left empty-handed. Not sure why Lowe's wouldn't carry 2 part epoxy in an 8oz and up size, but they don't, so congrats on furthering the demise of brick and mortar as I just ordered it online. I picked up the Sevin, but there were about THIRTY people in line and ONE self check-out operating, so I put it down and left. In an effort to divulge all information, there was a fire truck at the garden center when I left, but there wasn't a frenzy of activity. I'm also doubtful that every associate capable of running a register was a first responder; this is easily corroborated by the fact that they NEVER have registers open. You have to work harder than that to get my money. read more

Yes, it's Lowes...on the marquis. Poorly stocked. Poorly trained staff based on numerous bad or wrong recommendations. I require an electric scooter to get around in the store and most of this store's scooters either have loose steering, faulty seat safety switches or just shut off while riding. I would give it half a star if possible. This place always has just half of the stuff I need for my project. For example I was doing some duct work moving a vent and they had the bend or turn piece I needed in another size duct but nothing I could put together that would work for me. This place is just aggravating to shop at. The customer service is worse then a store ran by monkeys throwing poop at you, it is terrible. The workers don't know sh#t about anything except collecting a pay check for holding down the cement floors in the store. I have asked them where stuff is located in the store and they don't know. They don't try to help you either, it's hard to find anyone because it seems like they are hiding. Please stop hiring people that don't care about the customers. The last thing that pissed me off that made yelp them was when I went to buy a storage bin. I was at another store and looked online to compare price to Lowe's and they had the bin on sale so I left that store and ran thinking it was going to be a quick buy in and out. Nope 35 minutes of being brushed off to finally be told they don't know where the bins on sale are in the store. They had the same bin but in another color on the shelf and they would not honor the sale price. The assistant manager Melisa didn't even leave her office to come speak to me face to face. The register lady had to keep calling her on the phone. It's not my problem that they don't know where their products are, their website said they had some available. The assistant manager Melissa said she was aware of the missing product because someone tried to buy them earlier in the week but didn't try to fix the problem. I had my family waiting in the car because this was supposed to be a quick buy but it needed up being another sh#t experience at your useless neighborhood Lowe's. I really dislike this place! This place only got 2 stars because it is lowes and it does have all the normal lowes stuff. The good ends there. Absolute worst customer service I have experienced in a place like this. Its like none of the people working there have any clue as to how to do their job. I got a grill and had them put it togehter and 2 weeks later it still wasn't put together and then they "lost" the grill they put together. Ended up giving me one from the front of the store that had been sitting outside rusting. I just wanted to be done with this store. I will still go there to buy small things but never again do I spend any large amounts of money. I'll drive to greenville before I go back to this lowes for anything major. read more

I went to Lowe's to make a return and when I went into the building there was a sign in front of the customer service that said pick ups so it was very unclear where I was supposed to go to make a return. I stood in one line for about 10 minutes waiting to be helped and when it was my turn she informed me that she didn't know how to do an exchange and that I was in the wrong line. Mind you, I was still at the customer service counter. So I went around to the other side of the counter, same desk, and waited another 10 minutes before it was my turn. The customer service rep, Rhonda, who had a very salty attitude, told me that my refund was out of date. It was only out of date by a few day. The product had never been used or taken out of the package and she said it was the rules. In the middle of our transaction she just walked away - I was simply questioning the policy. Eventually another lady came in completed my transaction. It just felt like pure chaos at the customer service counter and there wasn't even that many people there. Rhonda got very defensive when I was trying to get her identification so that I could make a complaint. When I asked her what her last name or her employee number she was not cooperative. I wish we had a Home Depot in town to make Lowe's employees a little more appreciative of their customers. I will be very careful to try to plan my purchases so that I don't have to go to Lowe's. At the very least, I will go to Wilson. read more

I just moved here from Alabama and I expected the household name Lowe's to have great customer service. I was wrong! I do a lot of wood work and crafting with my daughters so I spend a lot of time and money looking for the right products for the job. Where is the Home Depot? I have never had a bad experience there. I went in looking for a particular time after waking around for about 15 minutes not once was I approached by their people to offer their help. I finally asked 2 associates that were just standing there chatting if they knew where I could find the particular item. The gentleman points in a general direction and said "it's over there" looking at his finger and where I was standing in the store it could have been in any aisle from paint to the garden center. The associate was rude when I asked which isle I could find the item and belted out a number just to get rid of me. Thanks Lowe's and your impeccable customer service. I will be looking elsewhere to get my household items... Missing my Home Depot! read more
