Here's all the irritatin' s*** about this place: - parking... nobody from the onslaught of Subarus to the ginormous lifted pickup trucks knows how to park between the lines - per usual Walmart fashion, choosing a decently rolling cart is a chore - getting assistance from an employee is less likely than your contracting the plaque - most things my cowboy needs or desires they are out of or in extremely limited supply. Go figure. - loser teenage girls walking around scoffing because "they can't steal something when it's behind the glass." - 9 times out of 10 no one is working the counter in the sporting goods section PROS + lowest prices in town + we love the Asian guy who was working the pharmacy side exit on Father's Day 2023... where is he? Such a nice man.

The employee comes to me after I had started scanning my groceries and said it's 15 items like the sign says. I said sorry I didn't see the sign and said since I've started can I finish she rolled her eyes and shrugged her shoulders then when I got to 15 items it stopped letting me scan until she came over to scan her badge. She could have handled that so differently! If she would have said to me when I was starting"I'm sorry but it will only let you scan 15 items" I would have said ok and went to another checkout. I just counted my items and checked out 2 more times and finished my scanning. There is a really nice grocery store up the street that I will spend my next 300.00 for groceries!

While I wasn't blown away by this smallish place, it was a nice store. Not bizarrely expensive. Here's a few items we bought: - Butter pecan ice cream tub $4.59 - Russet potatoes (3-lbs) $1.99 - Bbq sauce $1.59 The lady who checked us out was friendly and funny. Large, "seedless" watermelons were on sale $4.98 each. They and the rest of the produce looked decent. I was able to slake my thirst that warm afternoon with some good bottles sweet tea out of Amarillo, TX, called Panhandle Pure ($1.09). Western Union is available here. There used to be a lady who would sell her homemade tamales here out of her car. I sure wish she would come back!

I couldn't explain it, I think I had my priorities totally wrong (or right, depending on your perspective), because I packed every last can of beer in the house. Food? Who needed food? As a general note, the little town of Antonito is located somewhere in the middle of nowhere, and Jack's is the best or only grocery store, anywhere. What we discovered: - A decent selection of produce - The occasional organic option, like milk and butter - Friendly and slightly spooky employees - More beer, and other adult drinks, there's a connected liquor store - Hunting and fishing licenses and gear - Firewood, nature's beer buddy - A public restroom (campers, rejoice!) - DVD rentals, because of course - Chile roasting, yes, it was Labor Day weekend Also, there's a "Nite Club" across the street. Someday, I want to spend a nite there.

There are…read morea number of local organic farmers selling produce, and there are some farmers selling pork, beef, and chicken. The selection is good, and the quality is quite good. I do most of my grocery shopping here. I also buy my holiday gifts here. There are a number of crafters and artisans selling knitting, woven goods, ceramics, Native American arts and crafts, and redwood items (boxes, clocks, toys, planters). You can also get, from time to time, canned tuna, smoked tuna, and smoked salmon. The tuna vendor has some of the most delicious tuna I've had. Don't forget the bakeries selling fresh bread and pastries, community services with info, plant nurseries, and Vita Cucina's soups and shortcake. Be sure to sample the pesto (cilantro-almond or traditional basil) from the Dutch Gardener's booth--it's a local favorite. It's a great place to do your shopping, support the community, and see neighbors. It's one of the best things in Crescent City.
