She then assigned the case to a lackluster colleague in her office. On multiple occasions I voiced my concerns about the preparedness for the hearings. I was assured and reassured the firm was prepared. Leslie refused to handle a tangential issue related to my family law case and required another Contract. With no choice, I complied and provided another retainer, on top of the initial retainer. Then I was billed increments of 0.25 hours for 2, 5, 4, 2, 2, and 2 SENTENCES of responses back to me that totaled about 2.5 hours for a total of 17 non-legal sentences. One of these bills was even for an e-mail claimed to have been sent but was not. And yet another bill was for an issue totally out-of-scope for either Contract. Then I was billed TWICE for one event. needless to say, the budget was easily blown through and all the funds were depleted. This is where is got interesting. FINALLY Leslie decided to participate in my case, but not by being involved in my case, rather only in chasing ME for more money . Leslie asked for more money, avoided meeting with me to discuss the billing discrepancies despite at least 2 written requests, and summarily filed a Motion to Withdraw prior to her own written deadline that she didn't have the courtesy to call and tell me about, rather she sent me a Certified Mail. Then it got a little WORSE. During the hearing for the Motion to Withdraw, which was a hearing to also hear a substantive issue, Leslie opted to have the judge rule on her Motion to Withdraw BEFORE the substantive motion. That left me holding the proverbial "legal bag" alone, 'pro se', unprepared. Be careful here. As my Texas Granddad would say, I think Leslie "got a little too big for her britches". Her only involvement was chasing dollars instead of being a client advocate and participating in a case that SHE interviewed for and accepted, knowing my entire personal situation. I would NOT recommend her or her practice.

She screamed at me and spit in my face, and I returned that favor. On the next day, we both made a report to the Dallas Police Department. I did not know that my neighbor also lied and reported that I had backed over her with my truck. I was arrested four months later for felony assault with a vehicle. I quickly found a prominent criminal defense attorney to represent me. He had a stellar reputation, along with a stellar fee of $500 per hour. We met twice during the next six weeks and I wrote two checks totaling $3,000 to him. After six weeks, this attorney had 'no progress' to report to me, except that the Dallas County district attorney would not return his emails. This was not acceptable to me and we terminated our agreement mutually. I met Mr. Lochry on a Saturday morning for breakfast and we signed a retainer agreement. Two days later, on Monday, Mr. Lochry was in the district attorney's office downtown to request that my case be dismissed because the plaintiff, my neighbor, had passed away from natural causes four months earlier. The DA declined. One week later, Mr. Lochry requested an examining trial, to review the evidence held by the district attorney. In late February, 2025, my case was heard and the DA for Dallas County could produce no evidence or witnesses to support the false allegations against me. The DA presented a case that was fraught with oversight and mistakes. The detective who investigated the case had never seen me, nor talked to me, BUT, he lied in court and said that he had. Mr. Lochry demonstrated to the judge that this was a simple case of "he said, she said". The judge advised the DA to tell his superiors to reject my case, and I was released from my bail the next day. Mr. Lochry explained to me that it had been "a botched investigation" by the Dallas Police Department. Throughout my legal ordeal, Tom Lochry was calm, reassuring and acted professionally. In court, I sensed that the judge respected and appreciated Mr. Lochry's courtesy and calm delivery. I believe that Mr. Lochry's fees were reasonable and I can recommend his legal expertise and services without reservation. William

Tom spent the time necessary to research and uncover the evidence and data that was pertinent to the case. Admittedly I was reluctant to pay for Mr. Lockry's services on behalf of my son; maybe this was a lesson for him? It turned out to be a great learning experience for me and how the justice system works (or doesn't work). I'm thankful for doing the right thing so that my son was taught a lesson, but that it was also a fair punishment. If we tried to go it alone the outcome would have been terrible for the prosecutors and police are not always right; note, we support our police and the tough jobs they have. I am proud to say my son is back in school and getting straight A's. If it wasn't for Mr. Lockry my son's future would have been in jeopardy and altered as he would have been unable to start school and or remain in his apartment or worse with no vision for the future.
