Leslie was highly recommended to me for being relentless. Unfortunately she proved that to me from a not-so-acceptable client perspective. I interviewed Leslie and hired the firm. She then assigned the case to a lackluster colleague in her office. On multiple occasions I voiced my concerns about the preparedness for the hearings. I was assured and reassured the firm was prepared. Leslie refused to handle a tangential issue related to my family law case and required another Contract. With no choice, I complied and provided another retainer, on top of the initial retainer. Then I was billed increments of 0.25 hours for 2, 5, 4, 2, 2, and 2 SENTENCES of responses back to me that totaled about 2.5 hours for a total of 17 non-legal sentences. One of these bills was even for an e-mail claimed to have been sent but was not. And yet another bill was for an issue totally out-of-scope for either Contract. Then I was billed TWICE for one event. needless to say, the budget was easily blown through and all the funds were depleted. This is where is got interesting. FINALLY Leslie decided to participate in my case, but not by being involved in my case, rather only in chasing ME for more money . Leslie asked for more money, avoided meeting with me to discuss the billing discrepancies despite at least 2 written requests, and summarily filed a Motion to Withdraw prior to her own written deadline that she didn't have the courtesy to call and tell me about, rather she sent me a Certified Mail. Then it got a little WORSE. During the hearing for the Motion to Withdraw, which was a hearing to also hear a substantive issue, Leslie opted to have the judge rule on her Motion to Withdraw BEFORE the substantive motion. That left me holding the proverbial "legal bag" alone, 'pro se', unprepared. Be careful here. As my Texas Granddad would say, I think Leslie "got a little too big for her britches". Her only involvement was chasing dollars instead of being a client advocate and participating in a case that SHE interviewed for and accepted, knowing my entire personal situation. I wanted to edit my earlier review to add that bio mom has officially terminated her rights and we will be proceeding with a step parent adoption. I am in awe of everything Ms. Barrows has worked to accomplish for us. She has worked tirelessly to get us to this point. Everything we were told we couldn't do, she has accomplished. The best part for me is what my son told me once the termination was official. He sighed a breathe of relief and said he is so happy he never has to worry about bio mom coming into his life and making it a mess again. It's not what she did just for us. She gave peace to our son and that means the world to us. Thank you again, Leslie. Truly. You're a God send. Original review- Our case was finalized close to a year ago, but I needed to leave a review so others know how incredibly effective and talented this firm is what they do. My husband's insurance allowed for us to have free legal consultations, so we must have met with about 10 attorneys before finding Leslie Barrows. Every attorney we met with for our child custody case told us we could not get sole custody because it would be 50/50, regardless of how much thorough documentation we had to prove that it was not in the best interest of my step son. Leslie, and her team fought so hard for us! This was a case that was transferred from Michigan to begin with, so they helped us get proper jurisdiction in Texas. It was an incredibly stressful time in our lives, but the Barrows firm worked with us every step of the way. They took the time to explain everything to us, and reassured us when we were anxious about the process. They treated us like people, not just another number. I cannot thank them enough. Here we are, a year later, with sole custody, and the mother voluntarily relinquishing her rights. Everything that everyone else told us we couldn't do, they did. When I complained about Barrows incompetence, the opposing attorney came to her defense. That's when you know something is fishy. Barrow's overcharged me, kept me in the dark, and now threatening me to pay her for doing nothing! Her invoices show little to no detail for her costs. Seemed like copy/paste charges. Barrows never kept me in the loop about the case until the day of the hearing. That is unacceptable. Ft. Worth ~ Judge Hennigan will use supervised visitation to punish parents and that is not lawful. Judge Hennigan told all attorney's that he'd never grant 50/50 custody orders and he prefers mothers over fathers. All Ft. Worth attorneys know this. So why would Barrows charge me over $16,000 to fight for equal custody of my kids when she knew I was destined to lose? I could have gotten the same results from a young lawyer for $500! Hennigan will only give out one type of custody order: one parent gets 80% and the other 20% custody no matter how much you pay in attorney fees. I had retained Barrows for almost 8 months and she never told me what was going on. She didn't tell me what was going on until a few minutes before the court hearing! She never prepared me. She never sought evidence to prove my case. She let the other side present all the evidence and then just rolled over when it was our turn to make our case. I lost because Barrows didn't do her job. Now I have to find a way to fix her mistakes. She took advantage of me. Her arguments were weak and basically amounted to nothing. read more

They screwed up everything, refused to acknowledge their screw ups, wouldn't return calls and did it all in the snarkiest tone I've ever encountered from adults. Then they threatened legal action when I wouldn't pay immediately. I've had better customer service from Verizon and AT&T. read more

If I could rate Ms. Barrows with negative stars I would. When first interviewing her for represent me in my contested divorce and custody case I felt we were on the same page and when she reviewed my husband's petition she gave the impression that she would have no problem getting my custody and possession of our home. Based on my husbands work schedule and the fact that I worked from home she kept telling me to stop worrying and trust her. She said "let me do my job". Well I tried that. It didn't work. She continually blew me off when I requested a meeting to discuss my case. She told me we would have a chance to talk during mediation and I felt blind and unprepared for mediation. I was told to arrive at 12p for our 1pm time. She shows up at 1:10 while I sit in the conference room while the mediator is on the zoom screen. Needless to say mediation failed. We went to temporary order hearing in which she fired me after she did nothing to get my husband removed from our house. She said "I'm firing you as a client. You don't trust me and I can't work with you" and stormed off. She said my husband and I were "too broke" to get a divorce yet she had no problem at all keeping the majority of my $7000 retainer. She then refused to explain her decision and wouldn't return my calls. She was rude, unprofessional, tactless and I'm glad I found my current lawyer who is actually doing the job i hired her to do but she failed miserably. read more
