He seemed eager for the job at first, but then didn't show up at all without any call or notice. Days later, he claimed his daughter was in the ER and finally showed up. As a remote landlord, I made it clear payment would be made only after the job was completed - especially given his flakiness so far. Instead of working, he called me incessantly about payment. When I told him to leave if he wasn't willing to work first, he suddenly claimed to have done "half the job" and sent obviously AI-generated photos as proof (AI is good, but not at magically creating real completed work). He also sent empty threats " I will leave all this ivy in the driveway" if I didn't pay him immediately and claimed he didn't have a camera on his phone for a video call to prove that he actually did the work.
