I only have good things to say about Dr. Luba Foltz. I can't begin to sing the praises of Dr. Luba Foltz. When I met her and immediately she made me feel comfortable. Her calm nature makes it easier for me to talk to her. We talked about my problem and opted for surgery before my wedding. She said next year she will deliver my baby. That sounded great since I like consistency. I met her after the post op. She said I was recovering beautifully. I told her we plan to have a wedding. She told me I will be a beautiful bride. It can take a bit of time to get on her calendar, but once you see her she remembers you and spends time answering all of your questions. I seriously don't have the right words for Dr Foltz, she is hands down the best Dr I've ever had. She delivered my first son and was just the type of coach I needed in the delivery room. She's kind, smart and all about making sure you understand what she's doing and why. I so appreciate that. Dr. Foltz has also helped me get through a miscarriage and complete molar pregnancy. These were dark days for my family and we had so many questions. Dr Foltz and her nurse Cindy, were there every step of the way. I would literally get personal calls from Dr Foltz or Cindy just to check in and make sure I was doing OK. With the molar pregnancy I was at the lab doing test 2 times a week for 8weeks. It can be agonizing waiting for results, but Dr Foltz and Cindy would usually get me test results in 24-48 hours to ease my mind. I can't tell you how much this meant to my husband and I helped decrease stress. Dr Foltz cares...like for real. Plus she is super nice and cool and feels like a friend. I cannot say enough wonderful things about having Luba as my doctor! My husband and I found Luba by looking through yelp reviews when we found out I was pregnant. Right off the bat it seemed like a great fit. We really enjoyed her demeanor. She seems like equal parts doctor and friend. She is very knowledgeable and put me at ease whenever I brought up any of my concerns. We never felt rushed in any of our appointments. We talked about the type of birth I wanted to have. Luba was great at giving us advice while still being very supportive of what we wanted. We explained that we wanted to have a natural unmedicated birth, and she did everything she could to make sure things went smoothly. Considering all the patients she sees, she never forgot anything we told her from month to month. She made a note of our birth plan in my chart and made sure that we had a nurse who was experienced in unmedicated births. Even when we had told her that we wanted to have a water birth, and were going to look in to giving birth at a birth center instead of with her at Swedish First Hill, she was very supportive of our decision, and again gave her advice very unobtrusively. (That obviously didn't end up happening in the end) The day we gave birth, she also delivered 7 other babies, but made quite the effort to make sure she was there for our birth. During labor, she did a fantastic job of talking me through things and getting me through the final pushes. Luba is the type of doctor who stopped by after her shift ended before heading home to check in on us and make sure we were all doing ok. I can't picture another doctor I would rather have to deliver our baby and any other babies we may have in the future. I liked her so much, that I now have her as my GYN after seeing my previous doctor for 5 years. I can't say enough nice things about Luba and her staff. I'm hesitant to write this review because I fear that Dr. Foltz will become impossible to schedule with for my friends and family. But, I have to give credit where credit is due. Dr. Foltz is absolutely top notch and I could not be happier that she was my doctor for the pregnancy and birth of my first child. I have never seen a healthcare provider that was not directly recommended by a family member or close friend. But after a bad experience at another office, I scheduled with her based on previous reviews. I am so happy I did! She is professional, kind, and caring in a very "real" way. You don't get the sense that she reads your chart right before walking in the room and then pretends to know and care for you. She is genuine. And very good at what she does. She delivered my first child and I could not be more grateful that she did. Dr. Foltz stayed long after she was off work to be there for me. I have never heard of a doctor doing this before! I contacted the Seattle OBGYN group in 2006 to schedule an annual exam. Dr. Foltz was just beginning her practice there and was the only doctor with availability. She was very professional, very friendly and made me feel as comfortable as a woman can feel during an annual exam. Three years later, I made the choice to have my first baby with a midwife at home - I worried a bit about what Dr. Foltz would say (it felt like "breaking up" with my gyno), but she wished me the best of luck and asked me to bring the baby during my next appointment. Unfortunately, I had a TERRIBLE experience with my midwife. Her bedside manner during and after delivery was awful and she was extremely critical of things that felt very natural as a new mother (e.g. "Don't pat your baby's back - they don't need that" and "I can't believe you put blankets in her crib - that's how babies die of SIDS."). I fired my midwife and scheduled all my postpartum checkups with Dr. Foltz, during which I broke down crying in the exam room because birth with my midwife had been such a traumatic experience. She listened, gave me a hug and simply said, "Well... Don't worry. You'll have your next baby here with me." And I did. I'm a huge advocate for natural, home birth but Dr. Foltz has made it impossible for me to imagine giving birth under anyone else's care. Three babies and five years later, she remembers all their names, their birth stories, chats with me about childcare and life as a working mom. My wife has been seeing Dr. Foltz as her primary OB/GYN since we moved to Seattle and we found out we were pregnant. Being a husband and dad, my insights into what makes a good OB/GYN are based on what my wife tells me and the quality of care we feel we are getting and in this case I can say that we could not be happier with Dr. Foltz and her practice. I had the pleasure of having Dr Foltz as my Dr for my first pregnancy. She was recommended to me by a few coworkers and I am so glad that I listened to them! Throughout the whole pregnancy I received excellent care. I had high blood pressure for the second half of my pregnancy and experienced some complications in the last month. Dr Foltz and her team ensured that I felt confident and involved in the process to create a care plan. Her Medical Assistant Cindy was especially caring and helpful. I ended up having a c-section to deliver my baby boy. While in the past I had heard mixed opinions about c-sections, it was definitely the right choice for me and my baby. Dr Foltz performed the c-section and did an excellent job. I am now almost 4 months out and have not experienced any compilations. Simply put: Dr. Foltz is an amazing health care provider. I found Seattle OB/GYN halfway through my first pregnancy when my other practice shut down. I feel so fortunate for that twist of fate as I couldn't have found a better doctor than Dr. Foltz. I used to hate going to any doctor...and I actually look forward to my appointments with Luba! She is somehow almost always on time, but never rushes me. She takes time for my questions, but helps me consider other questions. This is the first time in my life that I've had an appointment with a doctor where the nurse, upon leaving the examination room to get the doctor after the preliminary questions, has told me to keep my clothes on for a few minutes because the doctor likes to meet people in their own clothes. Dr. Foltz was really friendly and great, and I liked that she wanted to see me as a real person, rather than just another lady in a hospital smock. It's never particularly pleasant to visit your gynecologist, but having a good one is important, and I really liked her, because I felt as though she didn't have an agenda other than taking good care of me and being really sweet. I have had doctors that made me feel awkward if I had questions for them (and they were just bad doctors) but not her! I was recommended to her by one of my coworkers, and I'm so glad I took an appointment with her and didn't choose another doctor. I have seen Dr. Foltz for 11 years, since I was 16. She is without a doubt the best doctor I've ever had. She is warm, friendly, funny, non-judgmental, and extremely knowledgeable without being condescending (a hard balance to strike). I moved to Portland 6 years ago and tried in vain to find a doctor even half as good. I was unsuccessful and thus have been traveling back to Seattle each year for my annual exams. And it is 3000% worth it. The staff at Dr. Foltz's office are wonderful and her assistant Cindy is fantastic as well. Every time I have had a concern or question it is taken care of quickly and with great thoughtfulness and skill. I hesitate to write a glowing review for Dr. Foltz, simply b/c I want to keep her a well known secret and keep her appointment availabilty reasonable, however I must give her the proper shout-out. I couldn't recommend Dr. Foltz any more highly than I do. I actually originally called Seattle ObGyn to try and see a different doctor when I needed a new Ob several years ago. That doctor wasn't taking new patients, and they asked if I would take Dr. Foltz instead. Honestly, I was disappointed at the time, but needed a doctor, so I went with her. I'm so glad I did! Luba is amazing. She is warm, professional, highly intelligent, capable, calm, accessible, answers all questions, gives you plenty of time, and really cares about her patients. She's also a mom, which gave her good perspective on what my experience was. As an example of how she does business - when I was trying to make a decision about whether or not to get an epidural, she explained the procedure and its impact, and answered all of my questions, but didn't try to influence my decision either way. She let me make my own decision - I really appreciated the way she handled it. I've never looked forward to a doctor's appointment - and certainly not an appointment with an ob/gyn - but I really did always look forward to seeing Luba! Seeing her for an appointment was like hanging out with a super smart and knowledgeable friend. She is just delightful. She delivered both of my kids, and there's no one I would have rather had helping us with that incredible moment. I really can't say enough great things about Dr. Foltz, I actually found her via her Yelp reviews and I've never been happier with a healthcare provider. She provided all of my prenatal care and was compassionate, calm and always took the time to sit down and talk with me. She never never never appears rushed, even if it's a day she's on call. Her sense of calm (even when things aren't going well) is very reassuring. I felt that she did a wonderful job talking me and my husband through all of our options when we realized things were not going to go according to our master plan. This was my first baby and she made me feel comfortable, answered all my questions, and was supportive of my decisions.My son was predicted to be a very big baby and at 41 weeks I wasn't dilating. So after weighing my options I decided to have a c-section. It was a hard decision because I had planned to have a vaginal birth but in the end with how big he was I was glad I made that choice. Dr. Foltz came in on her day off to deliver my son and that meant so much to me and my husband. During the delivery she made me feel very relaxed and had a calming effect. Finding an OB that is skilled and professional is easy as there are many great ones in the field, one of which being Dr. Foltz. What is more challenging is to find one that treats you not only as a doctor but as a pillar of support through every step of you care, just as one of your closest friends would. This quality is what makes Dr. Foltz stand out among the rest. Being a transplant to WA I was nervous to find a great OB but was pleased when I was directed towards Luba's care. It was when I became pregnant with my first child, however that I realized what a gem of a doctor I had been given. Having lost a family member to diabetes and I was terrified when I developed Gestational Diabetes. Dr. Foltz made it her priority during my appointment to ease all my fears, dry my tears, and show me how we could keep it under control with diet, exercise, and mostly a belief that I would get through this; that meant the world to me being in such a distraught state. I saw Dr. Foltz with my second pregnancy because I heard great success stories of going to her for a VBAC, as my first birth was a C-section. I was at first apprehensive because I wanted a natural drug free birth, and I thought I would have the best results of having a nuatural VBAC with a midwife. I met with a few midwifes before deciding to continue care with Dr. Foltz, and decided that I was most comfertable with her over anyone else. And after speeking with Dr. Foltz about my birth plan, I felt like she was on board with it. She actually kept encouraging me thru out my pregnancy and really made me feel like I could do it! I also appreciated the fact that she had a successfull VBAC herself. She was really amazing about everything, and always respected my plans, even giving me helpfull hints for success. She never once made me feel like a needed a repeat C-section, or questioned my ability to have a vaginal birth. Dr. Foltz was present at the birth, and she was amazing! She kept encouraging me towards my goal, and respected my birth plan 100%. I was able to eat during labor, I didnt have an I.V. only a heploc, I was able to labor in the tub even after my water broke, and she even let me go 34 hours after my water broke instead of the typical 24, with exellent monitering of coarse. I was able to have a successfull VBAC because of her! I am so glad I went with her. Even my Doula who doesnt typically like Docters really loved Dr. Foltz, she even recomends her now to her clients seeking a good VBAC Docter. I will keep going to her for my care even though I live in Camano Island, she is totally worth the drive! Love her! read more

Luba Foltz has been my doctor for over 4 years now and has seen me through both of my pregnancies to deliver 2 healthy kids! She is an exceptional doctor and I highly recommend her. She took the time to get to know me and answer my questions. I never felt rushed with her. I am 40 years old and have been to many OB's in my life and she is by far my favorite for many reasons: her bedside manner, sense of humor, professionalism, patience, willingness to take her time, ease my worries/concerns, and stay on top of all the necessary tests and procedures at each visit.
