I have mixed reviews for this clinic. I first went to Dr Hirsch, and after a year and 5 procedures I discovered he was dealing with the wrong area of my back. I had tried to tell him about my pain, but he arrogantly said I didn't need to tell him - he could tell by looking at my MRI. He obviously couldn't read the MRI. If I. could, I'd give him a zero rating. I went to. a neurosurgeon who told me the area that was causing the pain and he sent me to Shirah Yazdani at the institute. My initial visit was fine and everyone was friendly enough. However, as some other people have stated here, their follow up care is TERRIBLE. Good luck getting a callback no matter how many voicemails you leave. I've been trying to get in touch with any human being from this office for over a month now to no avail. I have left at least 4 voicemails and still have yet to be called back. Their voicemail states "calls will be returned by the end of the business day, if not, please call back tomorrow" so you're stuck in an endless cycle of leaving voicemails and receiving nothing in return. There's not really anywhere else to go in Lubbock for spinal care otherwise I would ditch this place in a heartbeat! Billing department can't track payments. Treatment was not effective. Staff did not listen to my concerns.

They will get you in pretty easily initially but once you're a patient they're not going to help you. I've called in so much pain trying to get help and they tell me they can't see me for 10+ days. They won't call you in any meds unless you come in and be seen (a week or more after your pain starts). You're better off just going to the ER for help because that's what I have to do EVERY SINGLE TIME I am in pain. They have never helped me when I called. Ever. Trust all of the bad reviews of this place. I was sent here for pain management 2 years ago and all I have received from them is lidocaine patches and excuses on why they can't see me or help me when I'm having to crawl on my hands and knees to get around. I've called twice in two years desperate and begging for relief from my pain and they have done nothing and the nurses are the most rude I have encountered. They'll just fire you as a patient if you speak up about the poor treatment you receive. Not to mention the only time I actually saw the doctor was at the surgery center when he came in for less than a minute to talk to me before they took me back. Dr. Yazdani is great! This is a very busy doctor's office, I went in not knowing what to expect. Dr. Yazdani had a great bedside manner, and made me feel very comfortable. Very thorough, and I did not feel rushed, despite being a fit in, in a VERY busy office. He felt my issue was actually coming from my shoulder and not my spine and ordered x-rays. I had the x-rays done the next day and the doctor called me himself literally within less than an hour with results and was ordering an MRI. When my insurance denied the second shoulder, he was on top of it and got it approved. I did end up having tears in tendons on both shoulders. He referred me to a shoulder specialist here in Lubbock who I am in treatment with now. I have been a patient at LSI for 3+ years due to 2 back surgeries, nerve damage, and re-occurring herniated discs and have never been treated so poorly by a set of nursing staff in my life. I do not recommend this office and caution those being sent there that they will be met with rude, impatient, and irritable nurses that don't actually care about individual patients. They lump everyone into a generalized group of people that they think don't actually need medical help. When trying to talk to the doctor or office manager about poor nursing staff they blame the patient somehow?! I'm happy to say I've found a better doctors office that doesn't just throw pills at a situation but actually go above and beyond to try to create care plan paths for their patients. read more

The most arrogant individual that I've dealt with professionally. His highly defective personality coupled with people in severe pain is a disaster waiting to happen. I'm quite surprised there is only one ding on his medical license. I encourage others to read the disciplinary actions taken in the report by the Texas Medical Board. My situation in the report is eerily similar to what happened to this poor patient in the discipline report by the medical board. Also, his nurse barked orders like a junk yard dog to others before a procedure. Miserable nurses usually mean an unhappy work environment. I stuck up for this poor overweight women in obvious pain that was being talked down to like she was an juvenile delinquent in trouble. She was a person in pain that truly needed kind and compassionate bedside manner across the board. I lost complete trust with this dr and refuse to put my health in his hands ever again. I immediately called my insurance company to fire him altogether. This is a small city where everyone knows everyone; We are not only patients, we are also customers. Word is getting out quickly now. The doctor did not listen to me when I explained where my pain was. He just kept insisting it was "referred" pain and the shot in my back would be the best course of action. A lot of money later, I still have debilitating pain in my hip/tail bone. The shot did not work. On my follow up appointment, I told the PA that and she just shrugged. The nurse is not friendly and had a "who farted" look on her face each time I was there. Also,my appointment was at 10:30 am I waited until 12:09 to be called in. I timed it and I was in the exam room for 6 minutes before I was ushered out and told to call to schedule another shot in my back. They billed $238. They should have paid me for the work I missed sitting in their lobby for a 6 minute visit and still no pain resolution. Don't waste your time or money. read more

Interesting how if you are 15 minutes late you lose your appointment according to placards all over the waiting room yet when the staff is an hour late no big deal. Do not go here. Save your time and money. They do not care about the patient and their pain. I had 3 different procedures done here and the procedures did not work. I tried to make an appointment to get seen to see what my options were since the procedures did not work and I was told by one person in the billing department I could set up payment arrangements on the remaining owed that my insurance did not pay. I then called to make a payment and to make an appointment and they said my account was locked and I could not be seen until I made a payment of 25% or more that was owed on my account balance. I told them I could not afford that at the moment and I was on a payment plan paying for 3 procedures that did not work clearly since I needed to be seen again. Mary Ellen then said she would reach out to Dr. Yazdani and see if he would see me again since I indicated the procedures didn't work and I am on a payment plan. She of course did not call me back so I was persistent and called her back and she indicated that Dr. Yazdani said I had to pay the balance in full in order to be seen at all at Lubbock Spine Institute. I then questioned what happened to the 25% of the balance being paid in order to be seen. Mary Ellen said that Dr. Yazdani overrides their policy and procedures when he feels necessary. There was nothing left for them to do for me if I could not pay the remaining balance in full. So even though you read their policies and procedures and sign them, they can override them at any point. They don't care about the patient or if their services work or not. They want your money and it is clear as day. This has to be retaliation to the patient since I indicated the 3 procedures did not work. read more

I'm a veteran seeking medical attention from Dr. Hirsch and upon a visit was treated very rudely by his receptionist staff. I made reference to the Nurse practitioner about the treatment from the staff. I made a comment on his reviews and was met back with retaliation directly from Dr. Hirsch with denial of treatment and was referred to Texas Health Science Center. This kind of professionalism is not one that I would recommend for any kind of treatment. If he would act on a situation in this manner he would most likely act more harshly in a serious one. I would not recommend dealing with this organization. What amuses me is that he has reserved parking for veterans but once in the door he treats you like dirt. My mom was seeing Dr Hirsch for her back problems. She did everything he wanted to try, including shots in her back. When she was given the next option, she couldn't afford it. She told him she couldn't afford it. His words were so I'm too expensive? She explained again that at the time she couldn't afford it. She asked him when her next appointment would be, he told her he would no longer see her. He prescribes her pain medication for her rheumatoid arthritis, and for her spinal stenosis, but because she couldn't afford a procedure he kicked her to the curb. So basically he could no longer make any money off of her and he decided she wasnt worth his precious time. This is no way to conduct business, and is no way to treat people just because we aren't all doctors and making a doctor salary! read more

Negative stars!! BEWARE: Hirsch has a huge ego and does not like to be questioned. Over the phone, his staff instructed me to ask for a refill when I arrived at the office. When I followed these instructions, Hirsch literally yelled at me in front of other patients and staff, saying I should not have talked about meds with him at that time. He performed an unnecessary medical procedure that increased my pain. He did not listen to my concerns or description of where my pain was located and the severity, and did not perform a physical exam. Instead, he was about to perform an additional procedure that was not what we had discussed in office, and would not have addressed my primary issue. When I paused the pre-op to get clarification about the procedure, his nurse practitioner initially told me rudely they do not make treatment decisions based upon MRIs and the procedure is what we had discussed, then admitted he had made an error. The next day when we were scheduled to review my treatment plan, Hirsch "fired" me as a patient stating our relationship had become adversarial and he could no longer work with me. This action is a habit he seems to have - he has terminated other patients under very similar circumstances and has been sanctioned by the Medical Board. He is the most arrogant doctor I have ever had contact with in my almost 50 years. He threatened to kick my spouse out of the room for not making eye contact with him because she must have been angry (she had not spoken a single word). He falsely stated my medical record showed ongoing problems he had with me; I got a copy of my full record and there is nothing in writing because nothing ever happened.
