Today was supposed to be a fun, exciting, and lighthearted day with my bridal party. Instead, I left the store in tears.
Our associate, Gayle, was assisting my bridal group. From the beginning, she seemed frazzled and never once asked who the bride was. I explained my vision for my bridesmaid dresses and provided her with the notes from my previous visit, including my bridesmaids' sizes and the dresses we had discussed about a month ago. Despite having that information, she seemed to struggle with locating dresses and finding options that matched what I was looking for.
One of my bridesmaids could tell that I was becoming frustrated, so she went onto the floor to help find dresses and speed up the process. Gayle then snapped at her and told her that she should not be going onto the floor to bring dresses back. My bridesmaid tried to explain the specific dress I was looking for, but Gayle was unable to locate it and then asked my bridesmaid to go back onto the floor to find it--after just telling her not to do so.
Eventually, I found four of the bridesmaid dresses myself. For the final dress, I wanted a mellow green color that I had seen on another dress. At that point, one of the managers, Venus, came over. Rather than offering a helpful suggestion or assisting us with finding the color I was envisioning, she told me that I should take the swatches and find the green I wanted myself. She then threw the swatches onto the floor and said, "Like this."
I was completely taken aback by her attitude and behavior. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable remaining in the store, so I asked to speak with another manager.
The other manager was kind and apologized for my experience, but when I asked for the supervisor's contact information or a customer service number where I could formally make a complaint, I was told that she could not provide either.
I left feeling extremely disappointed and embarrassed. This was supposed to be one of the most exciting parts of preparing for my wedding, and instead I spent the day frustrated and crying.
I understand that retail can be stressful and that mistakes happen, but the way my bridal party and I were treated was unacceptable. I came into David's Bridal expecting help, professionalism, and an enjoyable experience. Instead, I felt dismissed and uncomfortable throughout the appointment.
Based on this experience, I will not be returning to David's Bridal. I sincerely hope management takes the time to address what happened so that other brides and their bridal parties do not leave an experience that should be special feeling the way I did today.
