My wife like my haircut - she said I looked cool, like a cross between Blake Fielder-Civil and a moor hen. The staff are really friendly GO! Next time I go I am going to ask them to give me a price to open on a Sunday and help me shave a donkey on a number 1, so I can try and make some money renting the donkey out for Hare Krishna picnics during the summer.

And as you may be aware from my former Mufti review, I badgered a friend of mine into visiting them. I booked myself an appointment for Saturday with very high expectations, and they were met gallantly. Mufti is cool, there's no denying it. It's in the Northern Quarter for starters, it's run by guys, the music is unbelievably mellow and lovely and it's simple, clean and relaxing. They had me at the film magazines by the sofa. You might not be able to pick a hairdo from them but you can read through which films should have been TV shows. Agreed, journalists! Empire Records should SO have been a series, as should Watchmen. Ahem, where was I. Now I've ill-advisedly grown it long again and its natural wave and supposed 'thinness but lots of it' have got the better of me. I think he could tell from the clobber that I'm something of a vintage junkie, and my resulting style reflected that. A snip, a tweak, some conversations about Alex (he knew him very vaguely), advice on hair products and a confirmation that my hair is indeed thick (take THAT, Headmasters) and that short layers are fooling me into thinking my hair's manageable later, I looked in the mirror and was greeted with a silky head of waves worthy of a 40s movie star. My hair was very pleased and I've been somewhat of a regular since. Once there was too many students and I ended up getting my haircut by a teacher, so essentially got a hundred pound haircut. My friend went in for a hair cut here and came out looking so great! It looked worth 50-60 pounds and she merely paid a £15! Toni and Guy Academy is as great as any other and the staff is very friendly. You just have to sign a contract stating that a trainee will be doing your hair and then it's all a joy ride! So if you would like to get your hair done for a small spend, go for the Academies!

A very affable personality, and on the plus side pretty cute to boot, he clearly wants to provide the ultimate 'total' experience in hairdressing. He does a good job at suceeding. When you walk into the salon, you almost feel like you're walking into a lounge bar - there's great music playing, the staff are dressed in their best rags, you're asked if you'd like a drink. I found my stylist to be very attentive. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted so she was there to give advice and show me colour options, but she also allowed me to take my time. After I plumped for lowlight and cut, I had a wonderful wash and massage, almost falling asleep! The cut and colour took around 2 and a half hours altogether (I have a lot of hair) and I was ecstatic with the overall look. It's one of the best haircuts I've had (but that being said, I only go to the hairdresser once in a blue moon). The whole experience was worth the £70 total, the look lasted months.

On Peter St, this large salon caters for hairdressing for both women and men and also offer beauty treatments, spray tans, manicures and pedicures etc.. On both occasions I've been here the staff have been so very polite! And I have always left with my hair looking and feeling amazing. The prices aren't too expensive either, so for the exceptional standard of service you're getting I think it's very reasonable. The owners, Peter and Marcus (spooky eh) are always knocking around and are lovely too!

The staff are very friendly and the salon lookwise is okay, it's not glitzy or gleaming but appears better then scruffy. The staff are all very well presented and very friendly. However at a lot of the better salons staff seem to have their own 'tools' yet here they were communal and a lot of them looked old, worn and very scruffy and in need of a damn good clean, I wasn't too happy about them going near my hair with them brushes to be honest, I swear the bristles were broken and I saw other peoples hair in them! My hair looked okay at the end of the trial run but and it's a big but it was not at all what I wanted. I wanted my hair stripping and dying a light brown and then curled into ringlet type curls however what i got was dark brown and big soft curls. Like I said it did look nice it just wasn't what I wanted and I'm glad that it was only my trial run! On my wedding day they knew to use tongs this time, however I was disappointed that they knew what I wanted they'd worked extensively on my hair about two weeks before so should have known how long it would take and yet they took forever, despite knowing it was my wedding day! There was no urgency and no priority. Eventually my hair was curled and my tiara pinned on and my head was sprayed into an inch of my life with copious amounts of hairspray (my mum who also had her hair done the same time also thought they were rather too enthusiastic with it on her hair too) and I will admit despite being the wrong colour the style was exactly what i wanted and it looked beautiful, so they got there in the end I just didn't appreciate the long road it took to get to that point! So all in all it's a good salon, but I've been to much better. the staff are friendly but I feel if they'd paid attention to what I was saying it would have been right on the trial run and likewise I wouldn't have been so stressed at running late on my wedding day if they'd been more on the ball and focused. When I read how long it took I laughed out loud-so it wasn't just me then!!! Despite arriving almost 3/4 hours early I almost missed getting my make up done as it took over 3 hours to do!!! Both times I've made use of the super cheap standby appointment slots they offer (mainly because I'm super disorganised) which has been a real bargain at £20 for a cut and blow dry and still offers a fantastic service. The staff are all very young and cool but pretty friendly and you get offered a drink on arrival - I had a tea but the lovely girl who washed my hair said to shout if I wanted a glass of wine later too! The girl who cut my hair was great at offering advice at what would suit me best and the products to use but didn't give me the hard sell at the end which I hate. Will definitely return!

The stylist gave me exactly what I wanted done to my hair and then some! It was beautifully styled and at the end I was given some sample product to try. Come on, who doesn't like a good free sample? I was charged £254.50 for a full head of highlights and a toner at the sink. I did not have a hair cut. The toner was pink, which is why they charged me for a colour correction. The fact thats its pink is irrelevant, since you would have a purple toner if your going blonde. I was charged £100 for a colour correction I did not have and I wasn't even happy with the results, which were patchy and uneven. They would not refund me the £100 extra I was charged for services I did not receive. They did not offer to correct my hair, despite going back one day later and telling them I was not happy with the results. In fact they booked me in for another full head of highlights at a cost of £141.50. I have been trying to resolve this issue for months. My appointment was back in June! They continue to insist I was a happy customer, while I continue to insist I was not. I am still not. The define a colour correction as "going from one colour to another in one appointment" and charged me an extra £100 for this. I would not recommend going to this salon.
