The work done here is nothing short of excellent. "Lucky Dog Tattoos" is my "forever shop". I will NEVER go anywhere else. Yana is amazing. The shop itself is uniquely decorated and immaculate. Every piece of art on the wall has a story. Yana takes the time to design masterpieces that will live on you forever so be sure to make your appointment ahead of time as walk-ins are not accepted. She is priced within reason and is the standard going rate. Trust me, I looked around before I settled and fell in love with her work. I couldn't believe what other shops in Queens were trying to charge with sub-par work, at that. If I have any questions, she takes the time to answer them thoroughly. When seeking out a tattoo artist, you must trust them entirely and I wholeheartedly do her. I have referred countless friends whom also feel the same exact way. So I just got my first tattoo from here. Yana did it. I made an appointment on a Sunday with her and next thing I know is I'm getting my tat the next day, since someone canceled theirs. Usually there's a two-day cancellation policy, but not in my case, so there is no backing out! Anyway, Yana was very accommodating, really nice. The place is clean and bright from the inside. I couldn't say anything bad about Lucky Dog, really. I'm already thinking about my next tattoo... And definitely coming back here. read more

Lucky Dog Tattoos should probably add an additional sign for smug attitudes. Or maybe they don't because they're free? What's not free was the tiny photocopy of my potential tattoo. Whoever the man at the front desk was should probably take some lessons in customer service if he'd like to continue in the hole in the wall located in another hole in the wall area of Queens. you'd think customer service would be a fine point at a neighborhood place like this but apparently Lucky Dog didn't ge the memo. I would have possibly came back to get my tattoo done there but after this (first) experience, i'll pass and be happy to give my money (yes, even if its more) to another establishment. Pretension is never favorable, but if the artwork is subpar at best? Get real. read more

Went here because a few family members have used them. Yana is amazing! I got three kind of Small simple tattoos but they are very meaningful and came out beautiful. I'm going back soon for a cover up of another tattoo which she is really great at. I was referred to Yana at Lucky Dog Tattoo by a friend. After seeing her tattoo I fell in love with it and began to follow the shop on Instagram. After some time of liking what I saw I sent Yana a message and later went in for consultation to discuss placement, colors and ideas. I waited years to get a memorial tattoo in honor of my father and wanted to make sure everything was as perfect as possible and I couldn't be more excited. Long story short I couldn't be more disappointed. The thickness of the lines, the colors and overall tattoo is absolutely horrible. The stencil looks so much better than what I ended up with. I was told to let it heal to get the fulness of the tattoo. I specifically consulted with Yana to see which would work better; water colors VS shading, and if we went with the water colors, what colors are good on my skin tone. As a artist I should be able to trust your judgement and expertise. What I have now looks like a mess that color spilled on. After speaking to her and sending photos, she offered a touch up but what I have is beyond a touch up. I need a cover up read more

There aren't enough good things I can say about Lucky Dog..Yana and Nick are both extremely professional, honest, and talented..The shop is clean and provides a comfortable atmosphere..Yana is an outstanding artist and tattooer..Both Nick and Yana are extremely helpful and will not do any work unless you are completely satisfied or if they believe it will not work out the way you want it to..My husband and I have gotten a few tattoos each done here and will never go any place else..we have also recommended Yana and Lucky Dog to many friends who now will never go anywhere else either! I came in hoping to get my lip pierced and upon being measured, the man at the front of the shop found they didn't have the proper size to accommodate my lip and eventual swelling. He did have a small ring, but said it wouldn't be the right thing to do and continued to inform me on what size I should be looking for and what to expect. This man straight up had a 5 minute conversation with me KNOWING I wasn't going to get pierced there. I have NO idea what these other reviews are talking about in terms of attitude because he was the nicest man and really settled my nerves. A friend and I dropped in today to get our helixes pierced. The shop doesn't carry the size I want (for a simple post) so I decided to get another piercing I've been wanting, the conch. Nick, who did the piercings, was incredibly helpful and flexible. We talked about our options and what to expect for at least 20-30 minutes, which I think made us feel both at ease as it was our first time getting "grownup" piercings, and we definitely felt he took our concerns seriously. He was very concerned about cleanliness and changed his gloves multiple times. The piercing itself was efficient and over quickly; we were both satisfied with results (he marked our ears with Sharpies beforehand to make sure we got what we wanted). I also love the vibe of the store. One heads-up, though- you can only use a credit card for purchases of at least $150. read more

My lucky dog experience was fine. Everyone was always polite on the phone even when we called several times. I had come in 2 times to review the sketches with my artist yana who always takes only a moment to speak with clients who walk in, always checking if it is ok with the person being currently tattooed first. She was always open to ideas an never pushy about her own ideas but provided suggestions when it came to changing sizes and styles. Several of us were being tattooed back to back which yana did quickly and skillfully, never rushing or taking anything but a bathroom break (doesn't smoke as far as i saw) despite the large amount of work to be done. The time spent there is relaxing, her work is discrete, and of course clean . There's no tv to distract from the work. Lastly the price was fair. read more

Lucky Dog is amazing! Yana did 2 tattoos for me and they are exactly what I wanted, I have been tattooed in many places around the country and Lucky Dog was the most relaxing, fun place. Yan listens to what you want and does an amazing job, my Pirate skull tattoo she did the coloring exactly as I wanted, even mixing the colors to get the proper color, she had the sane vision of my tattoo that I did. These guys are great. I found them by admiring another woman's tattoos, which Yana did beautifully. Yana and Nick both know their stuff. I had a 6-hour amateur tattoo in another shop in NJ. I never finished it because I could not bear the pain. They both assured me the process would be totally different, and it was!! Yana finished made the old tattoo a beautiful one! My daughter had a tattoo done during the summer. Although it was nice, the colors faded alittle bit. We went back to have a touch-up and they couldn't have been nicer. Nick ( I hope I have his name right) who originally did her tattoo set up an appointment for her. He spent about an hour going over the colors. The result was awesome. He would not take any payment because he said he felt bad that she wasn't totally satisfied. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking to have a tattoo. Yana is an amazing, original artist, who stands head and shoulders above the rest of the tattoo scene. I found her several years ago, when I needed someone to do a coverup on a thirty-year-old tattoo. She spent time with me, discussed my options, and created a gorgeous tattoo that gets constant compliments. It's been my lifelong dream to get "tatted" up, but in my profession I was concerned about reactions (I've since come to realize that I was needlessly concerned), so when I retired two years ago, I began fulfilling my dream. Yana is the only artist I allow near me. I now have nine tattoos, and every single one is a beautiful work of art. Last year my son decided to get a tattoo with Yana, and now he's up to five. If you go anywhere else but Lucky Dog, you're making a big mistake. She only takes appointments, but she's worth the wait, especially for something that's going to be on your body for the rest of your life!
