However, before I decided to stop by I checked the online site and saw all of the artwork and information/advice that was provided. This helped me out a lot before going into the studio. I particularly admire TJ's Japanese style vibes. So when I got to the studio I met with the one and only TJ, and wow as an artist/owner my first impression of TJ was that he seemed very humble and open. He helped me figure out what I wanted and where I wanted my tattoo which took a couple of minutes. After my deposit he began the sketch and when it finished I got even more excited since it looked so nice. I went in for a total of 10 hours or so and there was never a second that I felt uncomfortable. The store manager Lucious was there and gave me lots of advice, he was also hella lit. TJ also makes sure you're ready and comfortable before he begins his amazing artwork and while he's doing it. The place is also very clean and organized, love the new renovations. In the end I am super happy and stoked about this first tattoo. TJ is an amazing artist and deserves more recognition for sure. If you're ever in need of unbelievable tattoo artwork and fun experiences I really recommend this place.

If you don't wanna do it just say no. Anyway he quoted me 400 for the tattoo. It took him 45 mins and he still charged me 400. When I asked why he's charging so much when it only took 45 mins he defended his price because apparently the line work was worth it. Oh please give me a break lmao. There was no shading no color just line work for a word on my forearm for 45 minutes and he still charged 400. I'm not the type to make a scene so I payed and left but this guy is a scumbag.

I went to this location with a friend and because of doing research and seeing that they do great work and have won awards. Looking back in hind sight, most of the work done on their Instagram was from the owner Ricky (he is the best artist at the shop it seems). I would not recommend people of color with brown skin tones to come here . My artist was Lan and I realize now that he is good with black and grey pieces, but not colored pieces, especially for brown POC. I also would not recommend Lan for pieces that are customized and need an artist's input. He is good with pieces that are exactly as it is. He is not good when it comes to working with the customer to enhance a piece. I got my tattoo done in early May of 2019. I wanted a customized piece of the national bird and flowers of my home country. I specifically requested for the tattoo to be on my stomach to cover up a birthmark and scar. However it didn't completely cover my scar so he added a blue background. I paid $450 for my piece and also tipped so it came up to $520. When my tattoo was healing I noticed that parts of it spread through the skin. After a few months, I reached out to him for my free touch up. The session was 20 minutes, he added black lining into the piece and tried to cover up the smudging with ink that he thought would match my skin tone. I tipped him $50 just for his time and because I believe it's important to tip a service. However a few months later again, I had issues with my piece because the cover up he did was darker than my skin tone. I reached out to him about it and he said to comeback and he'll try again to match my skin. I told him I would rather him cover it up with butterflies. In December I went in for him to fix the issue, and during this day I felt super uncomfortable. The other times I came to the place, I was with someone and also there were not many men there. Today there were four guys there, and ever time I got up to look at my piece, all of them kept looking at me and my stomach and so I felt uncomfortable. Also, Lan already chose the design for the butterfly and everything without even discussing it with me. I didn't want to make a big fuss because I appreciated him offering to do it for free, but looking back, I should have spoken up for myself. He chose butterflies that were not detailed and just colored. I had to ask him to put in black lining. I felt super uncomfortable because I was surrounded by men and also because I didn't feel like being the annoying customer to an artist. But later that night I realized that he only put antennas on one of the three butterflies. I felt like the cover up was half-assed and made my tattoo look worse. I reached out to him on Instagram and he said he would add the attenas and only charge me tip. At first I said okay, but he keeps making mistakes, and he should not force a customer to pay tip for a mistake he has to fix. When I told him why I didn't say much about my dissatisfaction at the shop and wanted a better resolution, he left me on "seen." I waited some time for my tattoo to heal and for him to respond, but he has not. Therefore, I am writing this bad review. Screen shots of our Instagram convo are attached. I will be going to another location to get my piece fixed. I will not ever return here again because of the mistakes, and how Lan handled the situation.

The pricing is decent as well, 150/hr plus 18-20% tip isn't bad if you're paying for what you're getting, much better than settling for some underground place that'll give me a fading tattoo, blurry and/or hepatitis. Ricky is also the most skilled artist I've ever seen, he was doing a woman's sleeve when I was coming in and it was detailed as hell, and it must have taken a while. I enjoyed my time at 7 train tattoo and my piece came out gorgeous. Will be back at the shop soon!
