My wife and I are experienced divers and were looking for a private scuba charter for our 2019 family vacation in Key Largo. With 2 adult daughters, one a non-diver and one a newly certified diver, and a 12-year-old son wanting to become certified, we needed more than the status-quo, billboard advertising, mega-dive shop cattle boat that seem to be on every corner in Key Largo. A month ahead of our trip, Lucky Fish Scuba started the process of getting my son certified by setting him up with the online PADI open water certification coursework. The day after we arrived, Captain and Dive Instructor Glenn took my son to the pool to complete the pool-time training requirements. The next day Captain Glenn and his First Mate, Divemaster, and wife Jill welcomed us aboard their beautiful new boat to kick-off our Key Largo diving adventure. Dive Instructor Glenn is amazing with new divers! Over our two days of diving, he provided my son the intimate attention, patience, and professionalism for his certification dives that any parent would expect. Glenn also went above and beyond for our daughter who was previously certified in Virginia but had a bad experience with her novice Divemaster. Glenn invited her to come along with he and my son, so he could review and refresh her skills to make her feel confident with diving. It didn't take long for her to feel right at home under the surface and to relax and enjoy the beauty of the reefs. While Dive Instructor Glenn was working with my son and daughter, my wife and I dove with Divemaster Jill until we all eventually met up and explored the reefs together for a true family dive experience! They were great at pointing out all kinds of sea creatures that only a trained eye could spot. We dove at our pace and our timeline and never felt rushed to surface. After each dive, we were treated to a freshwater rinse-off and then to snacks and refreshing beverages. Glenn and Jill genuinely made us feel like family. On one dive at the Christ of the Abyss, Jill took our non-diver daughter snorkeling, so she could see the reef and statue from above and watch us below. This proved to be such an amazing experience for my daughter, who had never wanted to put a mask and snorkel on, that we ended up spending a third day with Lucky Fish Scuba just to do a family snorkel over a shallow reef. My family and I recently took a trip to the Keys and were looking for a private charter that would be willing to combine both snorkeling and diving on the same trip. Additionally, open to hosting three children (under the age of 10). Jill and Capt. Glenn at Lucky Fish Scuba were absolutely fantastic. We were originally scheduled for a Tuesday. Jill and Capt. Glenn proactively kept an eye on the weather forecasts and recommended we move our trip to Monday. So glad we did as the weather was perfect on Monday. This really speaks to the level of service they provide. We first stopped at the Grecian Rocks for snorkeling so the kids could get in the water right away. The location was perfect and we saw a ton of sea life. Capt Glenn took each of my kids around individually for a tour. It says a lot about Lucky Fish's care/engagement when a child who typically gets nervous/scared a lot was totally comfortable and happy in the water with them. They were so great with the kids the whole trip. Our next stop was for a dive at the Elbow Reef near the anchor chain/City of Washington wreck. I'm a newer OW diver (under 10 dives) so we chose a fairly shallow dive at around 30 feet. This was great as it gave us about an hour of bottom time. Capt Glenn led the way and the dive could not have been smoother. It's been the best dive I've been on since getting certified. So much to see! While I was diving, Jill stayed aboard the boat with the rest of my family. My oldest had a great time jumping off the boat and swimming at this stop. Jill was so accommodating and made our time on the boat so enjoyable. After the trip was over they sent us some great video clips of our trip that they took on their GoPro. We can't say enough Lucky Fish Scuba. We will never dive with anyone else in the Keys and no other outfit anywhere has come close. We first dove with Jill and Glenn a few times in July 2020. It was our first trip to the Keys. They are amazing. We had never had a dive experience where we felt safe, cared for, not rushed. They are lovely people and fantastic dive masters. The dive spots were lovely but honestly the experience with Lucky Fish would have made up for not perfect diving! They chose perfect spots for the conditions to maximize our experience. They communicated with us before the dives to discuss timing and what we would need. Unlike other dive groups, they actually cared that we would have a wonderful experience. The diving was wonderful. They were kind and gracious and fun! Their boat is immaculate and incredibly comfortable. The boat ride was almost as much fun as the diving. They brought some snacks, had some towels on board and they even have a clean and fancy toilet on board! We really could not have had a better experience. It was so good, we planned our holiday trip back to the Keys and waited to book a VRBO around when Jill and Glenn were available. We planned our entire trip around diving with them. It turned out the weather was going to be problematic for 2 of the 3 days we booked with Lucky Fish to dive, so they reached out to us and we did 3 tanks on the only good day. Again, the diving and experience was wonderful. We saw other big dive boats out in 3-4 foot seas when Glenn knew we would not have had a positive experience. We felt so bad for those divers when the seas were too rough and the visibility was very poor. We are grateful to Lucky Fish and they set the standard foe diving. We would pay a little more to be safe and happy with them and will never again go on a big dive boat. Thanks again for a magical experience. read more

Thank you Lucky Fish Scuba for such a wonderful family vacation! We were looking to experience a dive vacation that was not with a Large group of people or went to the same dive sites day after day. Lucky Fish was exactly what we were looking for on our trip! We were able to set up ahead of time to get our son certified on this trip as well. They worked with us where he was able to do the class work online and then did the pool and open water when we arrived in Key Largo. This way the whole family was able to dive together! Dive Instructor Glenn was wonderful with our son and made this process so smooth. Glenn and Jill were very patient with our novice divers and took the time to make sure they were safe and the dive gear was connected and on correctly. Not only did they take their time to make sure we were all ready for the water, they would tell us about each dive location and what to expect to see in the water. They took us to places that were not crowded and felt like we had the ocean to ourselves. After each dive they had snacks and drinks to rehydrate. We just had the privilege of chartering their services and let me tell you they exceeded expectations.. Right off the bat when I started communicating with them I noticed how professional and responsive they were to emails and phone calls. Glenn and Jill are an awesome team and know how to run a business. When we met at the pier they were ready to roll and took care of us from start to finish. They treated us right. Glenn is an excellent instructor as well as a great Captain, he knows the area well and goes above and beyond to make sure you get the most for your money. Even tho you might pay a few dollars more going with him (not much more tho) it would definitely be worth it to get treated so well and get a personalized experience. It is the best way to go versus a cattle boat where everything is rush rush rush.. This outfit is laid back, very safety oriented, new boat and just awesome.. If you're looking for a first class experience with a lot of personal attention then this is for you. Definitely NOT a cattle barge operation. They'll contact you ahead of time to help design the right experience for you. You'll arrive at a small private marina & have an easy time getting to the boat. The boat is a beautiful 29 foot WorldCat which means it's fast (more time on-site & less time in transit); it's stable (it's a catamaran); it's clean - a legit bathroom with working toilet & running water & a BIG EASY DIVE LADDER!!! Glenn & Jill maintain their equipment perfectly so it's safe and they'll have an extra if you forgot anything. We've been out with them many times and refer friends & clients. This is the dive operation to go with if you want a first class experience. Glenn & Jill have dived all over the world and someone guides you so you can relax and just enjoy the experience. My family and I spent 3 days with LuckyFish - Glenn and Jill. My son and his friend completed their open water certification dives with Glenn while I - and inexperienced dived tagged along. All was very professional, well planned and fun. My daughter and her husband joined us the later two days - they are very experienced divers. Given the range of ability, each person recieved individualized and personalized attention and usually anticipated each person's needs before the next dive. My brother and I recently had the pleasure of booking another dive trip with Glenn. He was my Advanced Open Water instructor and we had such a good experience that my brothers and I wouldn't consider booking a dive trip with anyone but him. I prefer to charter a boat when diving in the Keys instead of going on the cattle dive boats. One of the main reasons is that we get to pick exactly where to dive and when we want to leave. Another HUGE benefit is that if the spot we chose is crowded from all of the dive shop boats we can hit another spot. I give Lucky Fish Scuba my highest recommendation. Their boat is brand new, comfortable and well set up for diving. Capt. Glenn is personable and knows the area very well. I also recommend him for getting dive certified. Lucky Fish is the best way to see the Key's underwater. Capitan Glenn and Jill were incredible hosts and guides providing clear focus on the quality of the diving experience over the quantity of divers they can churn through. Having a private diving experience for you and your group is by far the best way to see below the surface and allowed for maximum flexibility for timing and dive site selection. Glenn and I dove together on both dives and he was a terrific dive master and guide. The cost is more than reasonably for such an exclusive experience in comparison to the other dive operations in the area where you are packed on with up to dozens of other divers. I will be booking again with Lucky Fish on my next visit to the Keys and would recommend to any diver looking to visit the area. read more

Captain glen took us out on the boat on New Year's Eve of 2020 and it was amazing! It's always a good trip with him! He took us to many different spots down in Key largo, one was the toilet seat pass and that was pretty cool to see what everyone hung up. He also took us to an amazing little hole in the wall restaurant which had amazing food and their menu had about everything! He took us to this Everglades sand bar which was beautiful crystal water and was fun to walk around in because it was only knee high!! Lastly, he took us through the Mangroves and it was gorgeous! The story how they are grown is pretty awesome! Overall we had a great trip with him and took our kids this time! Not enough words can describe how amazing our trip with Lucky Fish was! Jill and Glenn were outstanding and had everything thought out in advance! Snorkeling in the mangroves to fresh hot water being poured over you to warm you up after the cold water in the winter was perfect! Mangrove tour was exceptional, the sunset on the bay on a tiny private island was everything we asked for! If you have an idea of how you want to dive, snorkel, enjoy the mangroves, just have a boat ride around the everglades or a weird request. Our family recently visited the Keys and we were looking for a smaller dive group experience. We were referred to Luck Fish by another dive shop so we called up and spoke with Glenn and got our 2 day adventure booked. We had a wonderful afternoon diving and snorkeling with Jill and Glenn. They arranged a very special trip for 4, combining snorkeling and scuba. The personal attention was exceptional. Jill was a terrific snorkeling buddy, finding lots of hidden fish, including a very large barracuda hiding under a rock. We ended the day watching a mother Osprey feeding her chick.
