Hi there, I felt the need to post a stellar review again after reading a 1 star review on here. Lucky Soul has always provided amazing tattoos, and a clean and super welcoming environment. I have been a client for yearssss and I have had the pleasure of being tattooed by many artists there. You are never "Pawned" on a lesser artist. Everyone that works there is Stellar. Jim and Tracey want nothing but the best for their clients. I appreciate that they are willing to let their other artists take on clientele if they can't be fit into their own schedules. They would never force anyone to get a tattoo with someone else, only offer the choice. No matter who you go to there, you will come out with an amazing piece of art. In fact, I'm going again on Wednesday. I will only go to Lucky Soul and I told my kids they can get tattoos but they have to be done there. read more

I wanted Tracy to work on me. I understand that she has a waiting list and I was willing to wait. In the meantime, the tattoo parlor kept trying to pawn me off lesser artists and "walk-in" artists. I felt insulted and told them I don't want them to tattoo me anymore. I'd rather go without the tattoo than be tattooed by someone I don't trust. PS I got a tattoo from Lucky Soul tattoo 11 years ago and they did not operate the way they operate now. Their customer service and frankly respect for their customers has gone down the toilet. PSS 11 years ago when I requested an "in demand artist", I had no problem getting an appointment and I was NEVER pawned off on another artist. This place has such "good" artists (in that they CLAIM they're such good artists) that they think they can treat the customer like cr*p and that we will keep coming back for more. Disgusting. Disreputable. This is NOT how you do business!!! read more

We did walk in 25 year anniversary tattoos with mikki bedol at Lucky Soul and could not be happier with how our typewriter font script lines up perfectly on our arms and how spot on the lettering is. I would recommend mikki in a hot minute for any type of script you want done. He was personable and exacting which is great for someone inking you permanently for life. I don't usually write reviews but the one star review below is so unfair I also wanted to post a different perspective from someone who actually gets tattooed there, unlike that person. I have also received emails when booking as she described. No one is "pawning" anyone off (and there are no "lesser" artists that work there), they are simply trying to provide good customer service. It's an offer to see another artist who may have an opening sooner to get you in quicker instead of remaining on a wait list. If you really want to see that one artist, a simple "no thanks I will wait" will do, there's no need to take to every review website on the internet to try to damage the reputation of a small business who did nothing wrong. They *never* bully you into seeing someone else or refuse, it's just an offer to try to help you not wait as long. I've been going here for years and seeing Tracey for years and the way they treat clients is better than any other shop I've seen. Even with scheduling issues and going back and forth with emails, they've always been so helpful. They're great people and super talented artists! I got a neck tattoo from Mikki last month. It's the first tat I've gotten in about ten years and being a neck tattoo I wanted to make sure that the job was done right, of course. I made the design but I need just the right person to make it happen... Mikki was the perfect choice! He's a skilled and experiencedl tattoo artist with a light touch and he took the time to make sure that everything was just as it should be, before starting the work. Preparation is everything! I was honored to be with my friend as he got his first tattoo by Chad at LST. The tattoo looks great, Chad is awesome, and it was an overall really awesome experience overall. We were lucky to have found Chad. The more we got to know him, the more we realized how good of a fit he was for my friend's tattoo! One of his interests is in Nordic designs, which was what my friend was looking for, and Chad even created custom artwork that makes the tattoo even more personal and special. He helped guide my friend with this important decision without rushing him or any pressure. We appreciated his candor throughout the process. It was easy to go back and forth with designs and modifications - in person as well as over email. Chad was kind, warm, and very talented. It was chill chatting with him during the ~1.5 hour tattoo process. It was interesting hearing about his life and his passions, making the tattooing a breeze! We felt the connection. I wanted a tattoo of a bee on my arm for personal reasons (for my Mom) I didn't want cartoon, or anything that looked angry....just a small bee under my dad's signature. Uriah was like a mind reader. I walked out. This place is like a dentist office. I've gotten onto international flights with less hassle. You wait and wait and wait. Artist comes out with "his version" of my design. I'm not fully tattooed, but I have my fair share and I am somewhat of a tattoo snob. I know what I want and like and Tracy Rose (proprietor) gave me exactly what I need. She took her time designing, altering, color scheming, placement and then tattooing. She is easy to talk to about ideas and is very open to incorporating your vision with traditional tattoo look. Her other tattooers seem to be cut from the same cloth and the shop is very cool and pumps some old school rock. Everyone here are friendly, professional and have their own unique aesthetic. They only hire and put highly skilled and acclaimed artists on the needle here. I know why clients come from great distance to get their tattoo here and they certainly delivered today. I highly recommend checking out their social media and making an appointment or if you are local just walk in. I will be back for my next piece and others to follow. I have to hand it to Stewart, dude deserves a real gold star. I had a 6 year old tattoo. Solid black. Seriously. Solid. Black. And it needed to be covered up. Desperately. I hadn't sought professional advise until stopping into Lucky Soul one afternoon, after reading incredible reviews and doing some soul searching myself...Did I really wanna go through with this? Is someone going to be able succeed the impossible? I walked in and was kindly greeted by a receptionist. Immediately, I had really great vibes about the atmosphere, the eclectic artwork covering the walls, and of course the sheer cleanliness of the place. Jim was busy with another client but took a minute to survey the black disasterpiece. To my horror, he also looked pretty horrified. He confirmed what I'd been dreading: The piece was going to be a REALLY difficult task. He handed me over to Stewart, who approached with a friendly disposition and asked me for my cover up ideas. As I said, I hadn't had previous professional input and my only idea wasn't going to work. I left feeling kinda down but still scheduled to meet again after mulling over more ideas. So three weeks, two consultations later and with very with open-minds, we'd come up with some themes and objects: art nouveau, scientific art, Ernst Haeckel, black orchid. All the while Stewart made me feel confident that he could make it work. I came in for session one and he showed me the final drawing. I was elated, relieved, and so ready. It's been a little over a month since my final session and the piece has healed perfectly. The colors are vibrant, the design is fitting to my form, and the black disaster has been reclaimed with life and beauty. I couldn't have hoped for a better coverup. I was pretty open to Stewart's ideas because he displayed a lot of confidence, incredible talent, and seemed to share my excitement. He proved to be a wonderfully multifaceted and creative artist. I am no longer bashful about taking off my shirt because he has helped make me more comfortable in my new skin and SO PROUD OF THE ARTWORK ON MY SIDE!!! I have to give Stewert full credit because I believe I gave him the most difficult canvas to work with. He worked so hard to make it something new, which took a lot of creativity, dedication, patience and, I'll say it again, talent. I know, I've gushed over Stewart because, well, he was the man who came to my rescue. However, everyone in the shop was kind, outgoing, extremely talented and very professional. Take some time to look at their work and don't be afraid of their input. It's valuable information and they know what they are talking about. 2013 they have been awarded Best Tattoo Studio in new haven by the New Haven Advocate. Undoubtably, they deserve it. With a comfortable atmosphere, a critical but non-judgmental opinion, wild imaginations, and more talent in their pinkies than most individuals, you can be sure -no matter the artist you see- that you will leave with phenomenal artwork to be proud of for life.
