Lots of gnat's in all the garbage can's that would fly out when we'd throw something away. Fountain…read moresoda was really watered down. Unfortunately we were next to some younger kids yelling vulgarities and stacking all their empty beer cans while very young children were around bowling for the first time. The only reason I'm giving a two star is the "Older" lady that reserved our lane & got us shoe's she was nice, sorry if you're reading this I didn't catch your name but you earned the credit

I try to be a good person--a fair, honest, good man. But when businesses act like the one I…read moreencountered today, it pushes me to the edge. I came to this bowling alley with my partner to have a good time, but all we found was frustration and disappointment. Let me explain what happened during our visit to Rand's Bowling Lanes & Lounge. When we walked in, the dim lighting barely concealed how dirty the place was. I went to the counter to pick a lane and rent some bowling shoes. There were four open lanes: 7, 8, 9, and 10. The woman at the counter asked which lane I wanted, and I politely said, "Lane 10." She refused, saying they were saving it for a large group she thought might come in. The lanes weren't even pre-scheduled--she was saving them for no clear reason. I then asked for lanes 9 and 8, but I got the same response. Finally, I requested lane 7, and she said, "Oh, well, I don't know. We might use it, not sure." That made no sense. I'm a paying customer, and I wanted to rent the lane, but she saved it for absolutely no one. My only option was lane 4, which was right next to a loud birthday party filled with kids. I decided not to make a fuss and went with lane 4. Then it was time to pay. She told me the price was $4.50. To confirm, I asked, "Four dollars and fifty cents, right?" She said, "No." Confused, I asked, "What do you mean? Is it $450?" What else could she have meant? She laughed at me like I was stupid and said, "No," still laughing. I pressed her again, and she finally confirmed it was $4.50, which is what I thought all along. I have no idea why she said no the first time or why she laughed--it was rude and unnecessary. Next, she told us we didn't have to pay for the shoes, which seemed like a nice gesture. But as I walked away, she added, "But you can't wear your regular shoes." So now I'm thinking, "What the heck? Why say one thing and then immediately contradict it?" We ended up paying for the shoes after all. When we finally started bowling, the experience was just okay. The bowling balls were greasy, and it was obvious they don't clean them properly. It was gross. Once we finished, we left, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Do not go to this place. This was one of the most terrible experiences I've ever had. The woman at the front counter was rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful. She shouldn't be working there, and frankly, this place should be shut down.

If you're traveling to Duluth for a long weekend and looking to have a experience that you will not…read moreever forget (no matter what experience level). Walking into the curling club you get this classic ballroom vibe that overlooks the club. You walk past the overlook of the lanes and you hit this little bar. Everything about this room makes you feel like you belong to the club and you have curled for years. The tables have signatures from special events held there. There are locals always there ready to talk shop and help spread the love of the game. So at least go a have a beer, grab some food and watch some skips and sweepers! Curling for beginners! I got the best crash course from the great staff/ experienced curlers. I can't express my gratitude of how patient they were on each detail and every step to overall get our team to be able to PLAY a game! They started us off by explaining some rules and etiquette. I have never curled before so this was a first for me. They taught us how to push off from the block. Slide the rocks back and forth. Teach us the lingo and hand signals. How to "curl " the rock and the correct way to sweep. Then after we got the basics out of the way, they taught us how to score. We got to play and it was an absolute blast. I was using mussels I didn't know I had. It's so easy to get into it. We got so competitive. Once we got a rock in the area you were actually supposed to. We were all Jacked. It's was a lot of bonding that we needed and something that I can't wait to do again.
