What a positive experience....for several reasons…read more Being a traveler, and not having a local dentist, it was great to have connected with and be seen by Dr. Sherriff. As it turned out, I required dental attention during the Christmas-New Year's holiday, when most dentists are on vacation (most don't return to work until mid-January). I was referred to Dr. Sherriff by another dentist who was already on vacation, yet knew Dr. Sherriff also operated an after-hours practice. I called up the office, and left my name and number on their voice messaging system. Within an hour, Rebecca, the Principal Nurse and Administration Manager returned my call and made an appointment for me for that afternoon. Dr. Sherriff was very patient and allowed me to explain the nature of my concern. He conducted an examination and took an x-ray of the affected area. There was never any pressure to speed through the examination and he was most professional throughout. In my earlier telephone conversation, I alerted Rebecca of the prescribed oral rinse that I used. To her credit, by the time I visted the Dentist, she had already researched the brand and its active ingredients for disclosure to the dentist. All in all, I would heartedly return for additional dental services, and would recommend this office to anyone.

I had a bridge made and fitted in Alpers Dental in 2013. It was not made clear to me by the staff…read moreback then that the bridge was put in on a soft glue, so I assumed it was permanent. It cost me a lot of money. I am a retired carpenter and have no family. I spent all my mother's inheritance on that treatment. Two and a half years later the bridge fell out. I went back to Alpers and they took my bridge telling me they would clean off the old glue and put it back in with a permanent glue. The bridge looked fine to me and wasn't damaged. Four days later they told me my bridge was useless and refused to give it back to me, saying they are holding onto it. After I insisted, they handed me back what they called my old bridge which was all broken. Alpers then referred me onto a partner dentist for a new very expensive treatment. I will strongly suggest do not visit Alpers Dental. They just do if for their business. Not for your care.

I came here because I recently had a cleaning somewhere else, and shortly after, I started having…read moreexcruciating pain in my back upper molar. My dentist was Dr. Prakash Bhula and Nikki was his assistant. I already had a crown on the tooth that was aching, but no root canal. And, I had went back to the place that provided the horrible and aggressive cleaning, and they indicated I would need my tooth extracted-GROSS! I told this info to Dr. Bhula. I also let him know that I have unfortunately a lazy, almost-lock jaw. Knowing this, he moved quickly. He was able to locate all three canals after drilling through my crown. He drilled one all the way to the root, another halfway, and the 3rd partially-but far enough to inject antibiotic into the canals. Because I can only open my mouth a small amount when in the dentist chair, Dr. Bhula was unable to drill the remaining two completely, and referred me to a specialist. Although I still have more work to be done, I am very satisfied on what Dr. Bhula could accomplish. I'm a problem patient and he couldn't have tried harder and been nicer about it all. I would recommend anyone to see this man for any teeth issues. He's quick, efficient, and amazingly very skilled even with numbing me up! :) Thank you, Dr. Bhula! Cheers!

For the most part people don't like going to the dentist and probably because of the association of the two words, dentist and pain. At the very least if you're going to be experiencing pain you'll have nice surroundings here. The first time I came was for whitening. I am fortunate to not have any fillings or holes and had been wanting to give whitening a go. Unfortunately I was one of those people who experienced sensitivity and the treatment was painful (add to that the fact I had to watch the movie Boy one and a half times). My teeth did go a few shades lighter and the service I received was very professional and friendly. The great thing about Ponsonby Dentist is that they will give you a 20% discount if you book and pay online. I would say the television screens were a bonus too but that really depends what is playing.
