The space is airy and…read morewelcoming, the atmosphere feels not only inviting but well lit with natural sunlight and furnished with chic modern decor. Everyone there was very nice and made my friend and I feel right at home. It's on the second floor above the Fresh Corn Grill so it wasn't too hard to find. As we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly pup. We removed our shoes as everyone else had, and entered the main room. There was plenty of tasty breakfast goodies to snack on as folks introduced themselves. The space was clean and smelled of sage which felt rejuvenating. We met the owner, Cory, who invited us to a sound bath session. Some of the folks sitting at the tables let us know to bring tissues... I was not expecting to need them and did not wear waterproof mascara that day, I still grabbed the tissues and went on. The sound bath room was equipped with comfy pillow like seats on the ground. The room had acoustics that transformed me into state where I felt like my seated body was one with the music. As the sounds continued I felt a deep connection with myself that I could not describe, which made me glad I listened and grabbed those tissues. I am thankful for Cory and the staff here, that sound bath was the best thing that's happened to me all year. It was better than any meditation or reiki session out there. I tried Jungian analysis--cool, interesting, even fun, but it didn't help. I tried Transcendental Meditation--I tried pretty much anything I thought might get me out of the hole I was in. Then one day, while walking my dog, I happened to pass the doors of CAST on Doheny and walked in. I was told it was a group therapy program based on CBT--Cognitive Behavioral Therapy--basically learning to recognize the thought and behavior patterns that keep you stuck, and how to change them. My mind immediately went to "The Bob Newhart Show" in the 1970s: sitting on low sofas in a glamorous office discussing our problems. As it turns out, that's not 'exactly' CAST. I spent about my first week there eye-rolling, resisting and generally being skeptical of the whole thing. I told myself, "One week and I'm outta here.") And then I gave in to the program, and it worked. Period. No, I'm not "cured." Mental health, at least for me, is an everyday practice, and I always keep an eye on myself. But after three months of intensive group and one-on-one therapy, I came out of the woods feeling much more like myself again (and more and more as time goes by). The therapists are extraordinary, as is their guidance. For me, especially Sarah, and also Samson. I'm enormously grateful to both of them. So, from a former eye-rolling cynic who is now something of a convert: if you're not doing okay, GO. Surrender a little. Let the program do its thing I'm very glad I did. Highly recommended.

It's a lot of unnecessary back-and-forth to schedule for a loved one with some confusing tech issues during the intake process. The staff was proactive and courteous in the beginning and after paying the bill, they act like they don't care. The doctor is nice enough to address this licensing issue in the beginning of the session and offered a refund to avoid liability as well as follow up by email. As for the billing issue, I wrote to the manager I'm fine with partial refund for the doctor's time. I've followed up with the manager and no email followup at all for at least a couple months now... Please avoid, especially if you are responsible for caring for others. The people working here do not care about patients. It's frustrating when the Dr. is fine but the admin staff is incompetent and ghost on you. It's seriously unprofessional.

His treatments helped and anyone would be lucky to be his patient. I know some current patients feel abandoned, but he didn't just up and leave. He was faced with a very sudden, debilitating illness that left him unable to properly refer patients. I know he intends to come back as soon as he's physically able and I hope all his patients are willing to offer him the same patience and compassion for his illness that he always showed with ours. In the meantime, I opened a group on Facebook for people to try to find appropriate referrals.
