I genuinely never do this, but I feel really disappointed by my visit and need to share Dr. Ramin's unprofessional and and discriminatory behavior toward me. I am a 34 year old, sexually active gay man who gets regular STD screenings and work up every 90 days for ongoing medication called Prep (pre-exposure prophylaxis) which prevents the spread and transmission of HIV. My insurance just switched so my 90 days was coming up and I needed to refill my prescription. Additionally, I was having some minor symptoms that coincided with a recent sexual experience related to my backside. When I requested specific STD testing for these symptoms, just in case, Dr. Ramin seemed confused as to why I would have sexual symptoms in my backside. I had to explain that I engage in anal sex, which felt embarrassing and obvious. He then dismissed my concerns without offering another explanation and launches into a lecture on promiscuity, citing prep as an excuse for unsafe behavior. He told me a tangential story about a woman getting pregnant from a one night stand which felt odd and out of nowhere, and used the phrase "just because you have a parachute doesn't mean you should jump out of a plane" and continued to reference my behavior as overly promiscuous. Finally, and most egregiously, he did not give me a rectal swab which is standard practice in every prep panel I've ever taken (been getting tested every 3 months for 6 years - blood sample, urine sample, throat and rectal swabs are all standard). I left with continued symptoms and had to go to the free clinic to get a rectal swab, still uncertain if I had an STD or another explanation. This whole experience made me feel shamed, discriminated against, and was entirely unhelpful for very basic care. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Dr. Ramin. read more

I found him on Humana approved Dr.'s web page and was delighted to discover that we went to the same college in Detroit (Wayne State). I went to this doctor about 6 months ago with my ppo health care plan. As a general physician I usually pay a copay of $45 per visit. Specialist a little bit more. At the time of the visit I spent maybe 15min talking to this doctor. I paid $45 copay at that time and 6months later found out my 15min visit was billed for $300 dollars and I still needed to pay $68. This is not a doctor's office but a scam facility. My health insurance and proper authorities will be informed of this cruel and unethical fraud billing your office has done. read more

I found Dr. Ramin to be rude and unprofessional with his patients. I came in for a potential case of strep throat. When I came, the office felt kind of chaotic. The doctor was running back and forth between patient rooms and the phone. The staff was nice, but they lacked a lot of hospitality. No one who came into my room knew my name or had even looked at the paperwork I filled out. They took my height and weight but neglected to take my temperature. While waiting in my room, nurses came in and out (some without knocking) to grab items from the room, and didn't even acknowledge my presence when doing so. The same nurse later took a blood sample, and struggled for quite a bit of time to find my vein. When Dr. Ramin finally came in (about 40 minutes later), he too did not know my name or why I was there - obviously he hadn't even spoken to the nurse who took my vitals. He then checked my throat, and within 10 seconds of looking at it, quickly backed off a few steps, exclaiming, "That's disgusting." He proceeded to refer to my condition as "gross" multiple times. His bedside manner was so bad that when he left the room, he wished me luck while shaking his head as if I was a lost cause. During the exam he also seemed scattered, asking me to repeat myself multiple times concerning my allergies to medication. I definitely do not trust Dr. Ramin to treat me in the future, nor do I want to sustain his rude comments ever again. read more

By far the worst experience I have ever had with a PCP. I was not seen until 1 hour past my appt time. I went to Dr Ramin after being hospitalized for a serious medical condition and I was having other medical issues. He did not even exam me with the exception of listening to my heart. He never addressed my other issues. He just sat at his computer taking notes. I asked for a blood draw. He told me he couldn't draw my blood, I would have to go to a lab. I asked if he would refill my medications until I could get the auth and appt with a specialist. He declined and said if he could only treat me for colds and flu's and things like that! SERIOUSLY??? I received a call a week later with a verbal auth for one specialist, but not the other one I needed. I waited another week and no call, so I called and was told they had not received it. I explained that I was running out of medications and it was urgent, suddenly she was able to find it and told me it had been denied as not covered. I asked for a copy and when I received it, it had not been "denied" it stated, "carve out benefits" which means another medical group managed that portion of my benefits. How do I know that, but they do not??? The pharmacy has told me that if I stop taking my medications, there could be severe side effects, but Dr. Ramins office refuses to fill my RX. Please Do not visit Un-Dr. David Ramin. I recently visited his offices on my wife's request that he may be a good doctor a caring professional. After My visit I noticed a few things wrong with this scenario. First his staff is very incompetent and young in the business not knowing when to say just a moment or I will be right with or even Good Morning or Afternoon, instead they will continue to answer the phone while you stand there looking dumb, after which they will just say have a seat as if you don't know to do that already. David as I call him because no Dr. acts like him, comes in whenever he wants and he probably just tell the girls at the front desk "Send in the next meat" He doesn't have any type of goo personality meaning "Hey good Morning so and so how can I help?" So the last time I went into his offices I had to get blood work done at an offsite location for what I do not know however David forgot to order a test concerning my main reason for my visit and just told me awhh just come back in make an appointment and we could restart the testing process over again, like I didn't have anything else to do in Life! After calling four other times to his offices without a call back concerning my results. You have to literally threaten his staff about a follow up call back, And God forbid if you have a serious medical emergency who knows how that plays out I know not for the good of a playing patient. And with all the problems we have as people paying and or affording medical care this Dr. isn't worth your time effort or $$ to visit him in his incompetent office incompetent staff. I was recommended to Dr. Ramin by another doctor & need to see someone ASAP after suffering few days of big breathing discomfort. After a early morning phone call to his office I was able to see the Dr, same day in the afternoon. Doctor Ramin was very kind, attentive & sharp on the diagnostic. He recommended to have a "breathing treatment " same day. His nurse set everything up & after 15 minutes or so I felt an extremely relieve. Doctor Ramin checked on me during the treatment & made sure to check on me one final time before I left. I really appreciate his care, specially being so busy that day, he made sure to give proper attention. When I was about to leave, the ladies on the front desk handled everything else needed.
