What a great spot in Sydney. You can take a nice, short ferry ride from Circular Quay to get there. There's something for everyone, including the kids. Unlike the US, the food prices here, while a bit higher than areas outside, are not the high gouging prices you see in the US. You can buy an unlimited ride pass (which is a bit pricey), or you can buy single rides for certain rides. Most rides require a pass which is a downside if you want to try certain rides. We rode the ferris wheel which was a lot of fun and gave us some great sites of Sydney Harbour. We loved that the lines aren't long at all, certainly not by US theme park standards. If you have time, swing by to try a ride or two or three and some theme park food. read more

Everyone was also dressed up in their costumes, sorry again for missing all of my great pictures. We did not go in as it was a sold out event. But it was cool to hang out and watch and talk to all the party people here. Approximately 27 rides. 4 rollercoasters. 8 thrill rides. 10 family rides. 8 Coney Island attractions. 2 sideshow games. Went to the NYE event, felt like a huge cash grab. Poorly organized, oversold tickets at different levels. Pier was full by 10PM for fireworks viewing while VIP areas to watch were empty but you weren't allowed in there unless you'd bought a $500 ticket. Ferris wheel was closed. Limited food vendors open. My review is only based on a walk-through and my experience at other amusement parks in general. We did not ride the rides nor buy any food/drink. A great way to spend an hour or two watching folks play difficult carney games, and scream their lungs out on various terrifying rides. Having seen amusement parks & fair attractions, Luna Park seems clean & well kept up. Rides are smooth, not rickety & carneys aren't overly aggressive. And the view of the waterfront can't be beat. I absolutely could not resist vising this iconic place! And honestly the front entrance totally reminds me of Attach on Titan and I just had to get a picture of it :D We came here on Valentines day and honestly I was surprised that it wasn't crazy crowded (I guess everyone was in school or at work). I really liked how they have photographs of the park all the way back from 1935, which I though was really cool to see how much its changed and developed. BONUS: It's FREE to come down and walk in just to check it out. However, we did end up giving in and buying the unlimited ride pass ($54 AUD/each). The rides are on the smaller side, no huge roller coasters or anything. They have carnival style games, a couple food vendors and a gift shop that was fun to look through. For transportation you have a few options on how to get here: ferry, train, bus or car. We decided to catch the train, it was super fast and easy. Overall, we had a lot of fun here. If you grew up watching the Mary-Kate and Ashley movie Our Lips are Sealed, you'll immediately know of this theme park in Sydney, Australia. We went one night to check it out and had a fun time riding the rides. They aren't the best, but the shining moment was when we rode the ferris wheel and it froze at the top while fireworks started going off in the Sydney Harbor. That timing was super wild and magical. Other than that, this place is mostly for kids and the rides seemed a little rickety. read more

'Ello chaps! Luna Park is a small amusement park located on the northern shore of Sydney Harbor. It's easily accessibly by boat or train, located the opposite side of the harbor as the was Sydney Opera House and "the rocks". Luna Park has been open since October 1935 and has several dozen amusement rides including small roller coasters. The park is FREE to enter and walk around, although you have to pay based upon the number of rides. Price also depends on height restrictions since the taller you are the more rides you can actually go on. This makes pricing much more affordable for families. This is a fantastic park to take a stroll through and enjoy a few hours of fun family time. There are a few gift shops and small little full service and quick service dining options. That with its location make sit a wonderful spot to check out for visitors and locals alike. It's not Disney World, but that's also part of its charm. Overall I give Luna Park in Sydney five stars out of five. read more

We could see the face of Luna Park from our hotel room in the Rocks in Sydney and decided to see if it was possible to walk there. It was actually a nice walk, crossing the Harbour Bridge (at road level) and then under the bridge to the entrance. Admission to the amusement park is free so we wandered around watching kids enjoy the rides. We picked up a sandwich for lunch at one of the food counters in the park and were surprised that the price was very reasonable. As our visit was just before Christmas there was a Picture with Santa set up. Poor Santa, it was warm and he had to fan himself to keep cool. read more

Can't sleep clowns will eat me. Can't close my eyes, the clowns will eat me. This is the stuff of children's nightmares, I can't believe this is a kids amusement park. If you're looking for Pennywise from Stephen King's IT, you will find him here. When we came this place was virtually empty with a ton of empty midway games, no children adults around, and creepy clowns dancing in a circle. Thank goodness we took martial arts when we were young because we felt that these clowns would turn on us at any time, and we would turn up missing. This would be a great set for a horror movie! The rollercoaters here aren't worth the money to ride them, neither are all the other small rides. The food here is expensive, and of course it's carnival food, except for that one restaurant in the middle. Unless you want to be creeped out, skip this park. read more

Luna park is feel-good fun. It feels old-school, but in a good way. You're not going to find massive roller coasters, but you'll find nostalgia and smiles in the spinny rides, free-fall rides, and herky-jerk rides. This place is good for people of all ages. Kids would love the various rides and carnival games. Adults can enjoy it as well - it would be a great date spot. The location could not be better. It is right on the harbour, almost under the harbour bridge. This makes for perfect photo opportunities, especially on the ferris wheel. In today's social media world, you'll find a new profile picture in no time. My one complaint is the price. It will cost you almost $100 for two people to get unlimited rides. While this is not ridiculous for an amusement park, it's a bit high for a place that has more old-school rides than actual roller coasters. read more

Family outing for halloscream. it was a horrible waste of money! Ok so they charge premium $ for a night out. They promise new rides but when you get there, theres only one new ride operational - the tiny small roller coaster. Also, no one knows when new rides will open or why they are closed. When we got on the tango ride it broke down whilst we were on it. We waited to get off because the lap bar wouldn't open. Later in the night they tried to operate it again, and again we gave it a go to have it break down on us AGAIN!!! The entertainment is awful - the singer is not the best as she doesn't quite hit the notes, the back up singers are barely passable - as though they haven't practiced well together - it's totally average entertainment. Came here for a Movember Gala. This place is pretty cool. Its not a huge theme park but its got some cool rides - Ferris Wheel, a driving circular ride that goes forwards and backwards, another spinning ride to make you sick and a fun house with cool slides, fun mirrors and other obstacle type courses. read more

Luna Park is a great place to go, even just for the novelty of having a photo in front of the huge clown face at the entrance, as it is so well known. From a photographer's perspective, it's even better, as entry is FREE (you have to pay for individual rides once you get in if you want to go on any, or you can purchase an unlimited rides pass for $35.) This is good value, as individually the rides are a rip-off, with some of them being $10 per ride. But, the lines are long, and unfortunately the wait isn't really worth it in the end. I guess I expected a lot more. Growing up and visiting the old Wonderland theme park that used to be open out in Western Sydney, but now, considering Luna Park is pretty much all we have left in the way of theme parks, it is a bit of a let down, so unless you're just going there to add a bit of adventure to an otherwise dull day, or if you're a photographer it's an awesome place to go to get photos of the vintage style rides and signs and games, but otherwise, unless you have kids who will be much more appreciative of the novelty, it's a slight waste of time and a fair waste of money. One thing I do like about Luna Park is the commitment to customer satisfaction that the management team has. So if you have any questions or concerns, they will actually make themselves available to talk to you in person or on the phone to rectify the matter. Its historic, its been there forever, and its iconic. However I cannot understand why anyone other than little kids would actually want to go here (or parents taking kids). The rides are quite pricey for what they are. But somehow you are just drawn to this place. The location is amazing. It is right on the Harbour and you have amazing views of the CBD from here. If you're going for a stroll down memory lane, why not flashback to the days when you used to eat fairy floss for dinner, laugh maniacally at Coney Island and close your eyes and pray that some guy wouldn't be sick upside-down in the Ranger. Luna Park is not the kind of place that you spend each weekend or even every other weekend, but there comes a time every three or four years when you actually look forward to that shiver up your spine walking though that freaky clown's mouth. When it comes to thrill rides, old Sydney has been left wanting. When Wonderland closed down in 2004, all we had was Luna Park, Jamberoo (if that even counts), oh and that new Ferris wheel up near Darling Harbour. There aren't that many of them at Luna Park - the flying saucer, dodgems, tango train, ranger, and that crazy wild mouse ride - are favourites that come to mind. You can buy a Lunacy ticket for around $40 online which covers unlimited rides after 6pm Fridays and Saturdays. However, the really good thing is it's a two-for-one offer (that's only $20 pp folks). So head over to Luna Park for that familiar adrenaline rush, and be quick about it, who knows when they'll try to close it down...again. read more

The iconic Luna Park must be the most magical amusement park in the world for good reason. Firstly is the welcome. The huge smiling face that presides over the entrance to the park has been welcoming people into Luna Park for almost 70 years. Get the ferry to Milsons Point and walk through the big welcoming face hanging between two 35-metre models of the Chrysler Building in New York. This is a great place for children, of course. A gondola ride on the Ferris wheel, which takes you 40 metres up, provides a romantic, intimate setting for a date and gives you spectacular views of Sydney. You'll also find some hilarious mirrors which dwarf or elongate you, and always make me chuckle when I look back at photos. Luna Park is more than just a fun park. It's a multi-purpose entertainment and concert venue where you can see shows and concerts in the Big Top or get married in one of the impressive Crystal Palace Venues. I had my work Christmas party at the Blue Room a couple of years ago and it's a great place to host a function. There is plenty of public transport to get you to Luna Park-ferries, trains and buses. Thrillseekers can get tipped upside down on the Rotor, while families should head for the tamer Coney Island building (who remembers the spinning cone-shaped platform? It's free to enter into the park. Two hours of free wifi while you are there. A short walk over the bridge from the city to get there (ok, not completely short but its not a difficult walk) or a quick ferry ride. Yup. Definitely a win-win situation. They have different packages and even an annual pass if you want to get on rides. The rides in the front area of the park are for the larger children, and the rides way in the back are for the little kiddies. All of the typical amusement park type of rides seem to be represented. There is a nice variety of rides and the lines seemed relatively short. There seems to be a great amout of nostalgia visible in the brightly colored decorations and murals around the park. There are all the yummy amusement park food and treat options available. I enjoyed overhearing one boy pretending to be an American as he drowned his burger and fries in ketchup. In the gift shop there are wonderful items that highlight the history of this park. I found it fascinating to see how the large face at the entrance has changed over the years. Each upgrade seemed more haunting and frightening than the previous version. I loved this place and was happy to visit while in Sydney. We took the ferry over from Circular Quay to get there and walked over the bridge back to the city after. read more

Old and antiquated, but perfect for young children. With small crowds during the week, this is an excellent place to take the grandchildren. Our granddaughter did three consecutive rides on the merry-go-round, with lines so short she could just get right back on. Then some lunch and back for three more rides. Food selection is limited, as are the number of attractions. And maybe the only corn dogs on a stick in Australia. The Ferris wheel is fun with great views over the harbor, the park, and the surrounding area. Very limited seating anywhere in the park. read more

You can work out which wristband ticket deal to get once you do a lap in the park to figure out how many rides you might actually ride. Otherwise, it could get pretty pricey. If nothing else, ride the Ferris wheel. The view is cool and its a nice memorable thing to do. We walked to here from the train station because although the ferry is nice, it would have been an extra expense. (Plus, if you're gonna blow money riding a ferry, there's cooler ones to ride.) Let's just get straight to the point. Luna Park is pretty boring. Even for tweens, this place isn't anything special. There aren't that many rides and I was pretty disappointed when I took my niece and nephew who were in town from overseas. When we left to go to dinner after a couple hours we asked if they wanted to go back afterwards and neither of them did. When a 9 and 12 year old don't even want to go back you know it must not be that good. Sure, the view is amazing and MAYBE a season pass would be worth it if you are a teenager or a mum who needs somewhere to let your kids blow off some steam... but the daily prices (even on special) are a bit of a joke for what you get from this place. read more

You have to bring half the fun when you come here. As an adult, make it fun with jokes and acting more rambunctious than usual. Free to enter the park, so have a look around and enjoy the lights at minimum. Deck Bar is a cool spot and there is a balcony upstairs to drink and enjoy the ferris wheel. There is another bar inside with an outdoor area too - seems like a nice place for parents to hang out while their kids go wild on the rides. Rides are pretty short in height and very mild on the scare factor compared to your average American carnival or theme park, but it makes for a cute random outing with friends or a date night. The bumper cars had me laughing so much my face hurt afterward. The wooden slides inside Coney Island are awesome - one of the most impressive features. The Tango goes surprisingly fast. You can get through the whole theme park within 1.5 - 2 hours. I think it is more fun at night. read more

I went because of the history behind the park. It was a WW2 icon for Americans and other allied visitors to Australia. One can't walk around here without thinking about all the sweet Down Under tail those Yanks must have pulled. I bet that Ferris Wheel has seen more Australian hand parties than you could shake a drunken kangaroo at. The park today is hardly Disney, but it's inexpensive and clean and other than the kid selling ice cream who told me America is full of "Trump idiots" without me asking for his thoughts on politics, it was an enjoyable couple of hours. I played some old school games, rode on one of those spider things, and saw a bunch of mirrors that made me look like I was hung like a sober kangaroo. read more

When I first moved to Sydney, Luna Park was closed. I lived over the bay from it in McMahon's Point and had this glorious view from our loungeroom and yard that consisted of the city, the bridge, the opera house and North Sydney... it was spectacular. The only thing that messed it up was the fact Luna Park was never open. Then low and behold, it started acting as an event space, opening for charity functions and whatnot. And my view was complete. Sometimes. Finally, when Luna Park did open to the public I got to visit. As a kid, I grew up with movies like Big that featured Coney Island and although I've been there now, Luna Park in Sydney will always hold an incredibly magical appeal to me. In the warmer months, when it's still balmy after the sun has gone down, it's just such a special place to wander around (there's no entry fee, yay!) and enjoy the atmosphere. read more

As the only amusement park in Sydney, Luna Park does fairly well. The rides vary from dull to exciting, to suit everyone's tastes and needs. There is even a small bar with pool tables if you ever want to take a break from hurling your organs around inside you while 20 feet in the air. However, it is a one or two-time deal. If you've planned your day well, you'll have sampled all the rides, and all the food within the first trip there. After that, what more is there to do but go home and enjoy the fond memories? You may think that a second trip can only be just as fun as the first one... but going on the same rides again gets really old, really fast. By all means, take a date there, or head on down with a group of friends, but don't waste your time and money by going there multiple times. The setting is incredible and being from Melbourne, it was as expected. Lots of rides and lots of fun. It's really expensive, I was with a 120cm child (green level) and it was $84 to get in! Food is awful but again expected. If you get motion sickness (I do!) don't let the 120cm child talk you into the Rotor ride on the way out. It's been 90 mins and I still feel unwell. Of course 120cm child is fine and was keen to go on it again. Expected. read more

Now that the past is behind them, Luna Bob and Luna Belle still continue the great tradition of entertaining young and old- much like the Coney Island of Australia. Often the nostalgic memory of childhood is often better than the reality. Here at Luna Park, it feels like some of the rides haven't been updated or changed since my youth 30 odd years ago. Entry to do nothing is free Currently June 2017 prices are $52 for an adult all day. And $22 for a little kid unlimited rides all day. I feel my 4 year old boy can get full value out of the $22 but since I am the only parent with him, not really worth it for me. Irrespective of that, the Wild Mouse (roller coaster) was being fixed and it would be a stretch one way or the other to say an adult could truly get $55 worth of 'fun' on the rides. We had a few goes on side show alley and won some tiny fluffy dice (only $15) but that should be expected to be honest. Food was the normal astronomical price for burgers, fries and soft drinks. Actually makes the movies seem cheap. I don't want to hate on Luna Park, 'cos at the end of the day it is a fun place to go. Maybe if they lower their price to $40 I think people would come more often. But at $52 plus all the other crap it's a bit too much. Friday day-afternoon was dead if you like the ghost town feel. You still have to wait to go on the rides as there is only one attendant for the entire kids section, so that sucked. Worth a visit, but expect to spend some serious cash - especially with young kids. read more
