I have swooped down on Hawker St Cafe a couple of times for breakfast with friends and have never been disappointed. Breakfast comes in make-your-own or pick from a few menu item form. So far my highly recommended dish is the Zucchini and Corn Fritters with crème fraîche, avocado and a salsa and rocket salad. For $15 you get 2 large, fluffy and tasty fritters on a bed of salad that gives your mouth a little zing in the morning. A smooth bonsoy coffee left me with liquid-envy when I realised I could have ordered it in mug size instead of standard, but I have learned my lesson. The inside is simple and the place doesn't try too hard, it just is genuinely cool. A student share-house kind of feel, everyone seems to be a local or a regular and the outdoor tin shed and grapevine patio just amplifies the laid back vibe of the place.

Queen Street Café is a great demonstration of a fun creative team. The café itself is very decently sized. Lots of space inside and out. A big long communal table as well if you want to dine alone. During the weekends it does get quite busy, so be sure to get there early. The staff here are friendly and attentive. They are on the look out for when you are ready to order. I think looking back at previous reviews, they are getting better when it comes to service. I ordered the gnocchi with roasted seasonal veg. Lovely pan fried brussel sprouts, roasted pumpkin, spinach, and mushrooms. Best of all, the gnocchi was soooo sooo soft and buttery. Wow, it's been a long time since I have had gnocchi like this. Well done chef! So much flavour in this dish as well. What better to go with a veggie gnocchi than a carrot, orange, and ginger juice. It so so tasty and fresh. I don't personally want to have kids charging around in a cafe on the one hand, and in between tables and chairs on the side of a reasonably busy road on the other hand. I don't care how trendy it is and I certainly don't care how many young up and coming professionals are discussing the better stocks to buy since the global financial crisis at brunch; if they have children they should be watching them, especially if they insist on sitting outside next to a reasonably busy street. There is a level train crossing at one end of the block here and that means there are regular periods when several cars will be banked up and suddenly driving through. Half a dozen times I saw kids nearly get toppled by traffic while I was sitting here. I was most alarmed. There's such a great children's playground down the road, all fenced in and beautiful - up here in cafe la la land the adult were so engrossed in the food and conversation they just ignored a few kids who were evidently still in play mode. I have decided the place gets enough custom without me talking about the lovely furniture or the strictly word of mouth policy that the owners have - no business card, no brochure, no website... just word of mouth; well, the word of mouth at my mid morning soiree was "Watch out!" Seriously, I'd rather eat somewhere else and leave all the swank alone.

It is very casual here and although open on two sides it does not feel too exposed. The temperature on a cold day is perfect. The staff are very friendly and polite always. It is great also to have a newspaper to browse while eating. Although inside a shopping centre the view provided by the florists on one side and the most attractive fruit and vegetable stall compensate for that. It is a perfect stop before tackling the weekly shopping at the close by supermarket. Close by also are a bakery,news agency and bottle shop. And of course there is more than adequate parking as with any shopping centre.

Well, it just goes to show how wrong I could be--I had a delightful coffee and cake episode--so good, I'll go back next time I am in the area. I entered the cafe dining area. There were a few people having coffees-that was a good sign. I was greeted promptly as I looked at the cake display. The passion fruit cheesecake looked yummy, so I ordered that and a 3-shot latte (their mugs were big, but not my usual 4-shot worthy size). I grabbed a table and a few minutes later the server brought me my coffee and cake. The platter had a few blueberries and a syrup swatch and some whipped cream. Looked great-see my photo. And the latte was excellent. I later discovered that they had a coffee and cake special 8 am-to-late for $6.50. What a deal. If you are in the area, try this place out. We were on our way to find Three Card Trick.. much to our disappointment it was closed but we noticed that Bond & Lane was open and figured "Well, we're here, why not!" The sign just had the words "Loveon Cafe" and an arrow pointing left (turn left down Victoria St when coming from the City). I was intrigued, but it earned the cafe a new customer. This is marketing at its simplest and most effective. Getting to Loveon Cafe is easy. Being off the main drag means parking is simple, plenty of street side parks. Walking towards the cafe, you are welcomed by a row of neat, small potted plants and the outdoor tables. Inside, the cafe is big, open and spacious. Small tables, big tables and benches. Sit where'd you like, grab today's paper. There is a fresh juice bar, a selection of sweets at the order table, cold drinks in the fridge, and lots of tasty menu items cooked from the kitchen. Sitting outside is lovely as its real quiet. You can sip coffee, chat and read the paper in the sun on the outdoor tables. A few cars driving around, but thats it. The owners of Loveon Cafe are Bangladeshi and once you examine the menu, you can start to see the influences come through. I chose to try Bagla'r Promise from the breakfast menu. Its a small potato curry, some dhaal and two poached eggs on top served with chapati. I was pleasantly surprised to try something really different for breakfast. It tasted great, was a decent size, the poached eggs were spot on and it went well with my coffee too. The lunch menu looks like great value too with lots of options to choose from. I didn't try the fresh juice, but that is definitely on my list for next time. The service was great, the staff are really friendly. Although the cafe probably needs a fly screen on the entrance doors. If you're looking to check out a new cafe for breakfast or lunch, you can't go past this little hidden gem in Adelaide's inner western suburbs. Check it out.

There is a mothers sectons where there is ample space for prams and mothers to sit and have coffee, there are about 20 seats available outiside and about another 20 inside. When i sat down, i was given a water which contained many citrus fruits, herbs, apples and pears. its the little thing for me i like, but, it makes the water taste amazing. When i recieved the latte i noticed something about the spoon, it was a special looking promotional spoon for the Thebarton Bowling Club. When i questioned it they said that organisations  donate the spoons as per request of owner. When the salmon arrived, i was served it and the waiter then proceeded to grate the pepper on top of the meal, again its the little things. The salmon was on top of a piece of rye bread with spinach and pouched eggs with a minty, peppery sauce in the spinach. Adelaide is, in general, not cut out for types like me, with comparatively few cafes offering all day breakfast. Uncle Albert's is a local cafe that serves hot breakfast till 4:30 - which is pretty much its main appeal to me. Plonked in the of Norwood Mall (just near Coles), there's very little in terms of atmosphere to pull the crowd to Albert's - but a crowd there generally is. It's partly because of the outdoor area, which is quite big as well as being undercover, and good for people watching if that's your bag. The other part of it is all-day breakfasts for a pretty great price. We're talking the old reliable: bacon, eggs, toast and tomato with a coffee for $14. Yup. Ron Swanson would approve of the bacon levels in their big breakfast, and so do I. They also have a pretty decent selection of lunch, brunch options - but I can't speak for them at all. I can't look past my 2pm bacon.

Luke warm eggs and ham, poached eggs not runny, 'Turkish Bread' hard as a rock. Don't get sucked in by location and walk 10 mins around the corner for much better alternatives.
