One of the best decisions we made around my 5/16/15 wedding was finding LJ of Lux & Jasper as our wedding planner/day-of coordinator. Throughout the year plus of planning, she kept us calm, focused and answered every single frantic email and question we had. We're a bit of an uptight group so there were lots : ) LJ was a HUGE help as we sorted out our vision and what we wanted -- and then followed through flawlessly on bringing that vision to life. She has an incredible eye for design and was instrumental in creating a beautiful setting that matched our vision at both the ceremony and the reception. One of my favorite things about LJ is that she always shared her opinion when asked, and when she disagreed or thought another option may be better than the direction we were headed, she'd respectfully share her point of view and get us back on track -- but I always felt like she respected what we wanted and supported it. All the vendors she recommended were AMAZING. She was straightforward with cost and how vendors stacked up against the competition. Even though she had relationships with many people in the industry, I always felt like she had our best interest in mind and represented us incredibly accurately and well. We paid extra for her to serve as point person for several shuttle buses. This was well worth it in that LJ created and delivered the complicated schedule as well as communicated with the drivers on the big day. What a load off! LJ provided a range of suggestions to make sure we understood our options (for example, for the Groom's Cake she suggested everything from an elaborate cake from a local artisanal bakery to Safeway and everything in between!), but when we just wanted her to handle something and not be weighed down by choices, she executed things flawlessly (such as delivering our welcome bags all over the Monterey Peninsula the day before the wedding!). On the day of, we had nothing to worry about -- everything that was within her control turned out flawlessly. She also navigated tricky situations with our on-site venue contact, who was a bit challenging to work with, and did a great job at managing her to make sure we had the day we envisioned. I was constantly impressed by her positive and calming attitude, grounding presence, creative vision and her ability to manage complex and emotionally charged situations. She was patient and understanding when we had last-minute changes and always snapped into action when we needed her to. I would definitely recommend LJ as a wedding planner/day-of coordinator! LJ is an absolute gem! I hired her exactly one month out from our wedding to be our day of coordinator and she went FAR above and beyond that role. She has worked a bunch of weddings and has a relationship with our venue (Sequoia Retreat Center) which is a enormous property and we were hosting an entire weekend wedding. As we were getting closer to the weekend, I realized that we really needed someone to help us manage the flow of things and help us literally pull the whole thing off. I can't stress this enough- we would have been lost without LJ. We had multiple phone calls over the month including an almost 2 hour call where LJ walked me through every possible scenario, timeline, and seating/catering plan. In the week before, she was in touch via text almost every day just to ask if there was anything at all on my mind or stressing me out. Once the weekend arrived, LJ was literally everywhere at once, I don't know how she did it. She offered for us to give her phone number out to our guests in case they got lost or missed the shuttle, she walked us through the rehearsal from beginning to end, she provided simple decorations, like a sign for our guestbook, frames for our signs and photos and a basket for the cards, she set everything up from tables and centerpieces to the favors, she helped the groomsmen pin their boutonnieres on, she had some signs printed for us, she returned some rentals from our dessert table, all in addition to the regular day of coordination with all of our vendors. We were able to 100% enjoy every second of our weekend thank to LJ. She ensured that we had NOTHING to stress or worry about. LJ is incredibly organized, creative, and has a wonderfully mellow and calming vibe. She anticipated every turn and bump that could come up and was ahead of it. She was the last vendor we hired but in the end, she was the most important person for the weekend. We could not have done it without her. read more

Look no further! Book LJ now :) My husband and I got married on 5/18/19 at the Sequoia Retreat Center, and we truly can't imagine our wedding without LJ's help. She was DEFINITELY the best investment we made throughout our wedding process, and went so above and beyond our expectations. We ended up doing a full wedding weekend for our guests, and LJ helped us with the entire weekend from the Friday welcome dinner until the Sunday post-wedding brunch (and everything in between!). Her extreme knowledge with our venue and relationship with the staff there is invaluable. During the actual wedding, we had a super unexpected storm that put much of our planning and organization at risk. It felt in the moment like everything had to be changed and we were running out of time, but LJ dove into execution mode and did whatever it took to make the day go off without a hitch. We ended up fully relying on LJ to make many new decisions about the wedding that had to be made in this new vision with a day full of rain, and she executed perfectly. Amid all the chaos of unexpected weather, it was a huge relief knowing that we could fully trust LJ to cover all the bases. One of LJ's unique strengths compared to other planners is her amazing creativity and ability to create magic. There were MANY points throughout our wedding where people would compliment us on staging that was setup across the venue, or small touches that we had no part in; it was all LJ. Her creativity was extremely helpful and saved us so much time from spending too much effort in worrying about design aspects of the weekend, and the end result was miles better than we ever could have dreamt up. It would take too long to list all of the many amazing things LJ did for us that went above and beyond. Just to mention a few, she single handedly put on our Sunday brunch for almost 100 people, including buying all of the food and drinks, fully decorating and staging tables, and coordinating the whole morning. She helped us find our amazing vendor team (we feel so lucky to have landed with each and every one of them) and managed much of the communication and coordination between them (a difficult task when all of the plans change because of the weather). She added so many special touches throughout the entire weekend that our guests loved and appreciated, such as beautifully decorated nooks to relax in and a super cute smores stand. She also took the lead on creating magical succulent boxes for our welcome dinner centerpieces when we decided we didn't have budget to rent them from our florist. Our wedding truly wouldn't have been the magical weekend that it was without LJ's help, especially with the craziness that the last minute weather changes caused. It's too bad I plan to get married only once; I already miss working with LJ to bring my wedding vision to life. LJ is a consummate collaborator with great ideas that come from years of experience, and excellent, personalized recommendations for vendors. I really appreciated her can-do, positive attitude and attention to detail. Before the wedding, I met with LJ several times to discuss the plan and my rather elaborate vision. LJ listened to my ideas, then made them better, and then brought them to life. She responds quickly to emails and texts, and keeps very organized notes in google documents/spreadsheets/slides. All of her vendor recommendations (florist, sound equipment rental, alcohol delivery) were completely on-point and blew me away. The day-of the wedding is when LJ went into superhero mode. She was somehow everywhere all at once, making sure everything was perfect. Afterward, many of the guests commented on how smoothly all the transitions went. My mother, who can be hard to please, and was a little suspicious of the need for a wedding coordinator at the beginning of planning, was beyond impressed with LJ. I have no idea how LJ accomplished everything from set-up to clean-up as seamlessly as she did on the day of my wedding -- it's almost inhuman. I agree with all the reviews here. LJ is amazing, and I don't even know if I could do justice with my review for her. Words will not be enough to express my gratitude. LJ helped with my own Baby Shower planning and design.It was a big event with around 100 invitees. As much as I wanted the event to be perfect, I was quite conscious of our budget. My friends offered to help, but it is extremely hard for me to delegate work. So I started making calls and picked a venue. I researched to find the best baker in town. By this time, I was already feeling overwhelmed. I had a vision in mind, but had no idea how to achieve it without someone's help. Working with an event designer meant spending a lot of money towards planning. But the task of doing it all by myself seemed daunting, and I decided to give it a try. I made several calls and met one of the designers. All I wanted for the shower was to have a cohesive theme, without being too ostentatious, or having too much of a baby shower theme. But somehow, when I met the designer, I felt I was being sold on the idea of how the party should be, rather than what I desired. Still, the lady convinced me that it was doable in my budget. When I got a quote, it was outrageous and did not even make sense based on our discussion. I felt I wasn't even heard and it was very disappointing. I wanted to give up on the idea of hiring someone. But then, I came across LJ's page. With all the positive reviews that I read, I decided to give her a call. From the get-go, LJ was very receptive. She listened to me, and understood exactly what I was looking for. I knew right then that I wanted to work with her. The more I talked to her, the more I felt at ease. Initially, I would share my ideas. But soon I realized I could let go and have her plan the whole thing. She coordinated with the event manager at the restaurant. And she also coordinated with the baker and conveyed the theme, design and color ideas. She took care of everything, while being extremely budget conscious for me. The event was flawless. I was completely blown away by how well it was all put together. More importantly, I realized that anything I mentioned to LJ about my vision was brought to reality. All her handwork and presence during the event meant that I could relax and enjoy. All the guests raved about the event. It was perfect. LJ is such a wonderful person, and it was a pleasure working with her. I wish she was there to help me with my wedding as well. Anyway, I tell her jokingly that she has to now help me with my daughter's wedding when my daughter grows up, and with all the events in between. I wish I didn't feel compelled to give this, but unfortunately I think she earned it. I threw my wife a surprise 25th anniversary celebration/vowel renewal. I decided it was to hard to plan on my own, so I hired LJ to head up the project. At first she was very pleasant, and provided an enormous amount of assistance with initial planning, and emailing out invitations. Up until the last week before the event I thought things were magnificent. The week of the event, LJ went on a short vacation, and was completely unavailable. I'm sure the vacation was needed, however would have been nice to tell your client that you couldn't be reached just days before my big day. My event was definitely unique, since it was surprise and left very little opportunity for rehearsal. However, I provided a clear script to follow, and even conducted a mini-rehearsal. On game day, she was late to the event. Instead of providing a team as she stated she would, she used my guests to set-up chairs. Not good service! After the event I was provided a copy of her bill, which included items that I had not previously been given prices for verbally or in writing. Her contract states; "that any purchases made would be agreed upon in advance and in writing..." This did not happen! I still paid the bill, since I would have used these items anyway. When I raised my concerns, and asked her to relook her charges she decided to not accept any responsibility, even stated I went Rogue on her since I decided to change some of the original plans. Not sure how I can go Rogue on my own event! It is so unfortunate that this event ended in this fashion. Just the smallest amount of customer courtesy and communication could have made this such a pleasant experience. If professionalism is not a concern of yours, then maybe she's right for you! read more

We provided the food (paella) for a large wedding that LJ coordinated. From our experience in working with wedding coordinators we see that the wedding parties needs take priority over the vendors needs which is understandable. With LJ we were pleasantly surprised. Every bit of our communication during the planning phase was always immediate and with no drama. During the wedding we observed a very relaxed and stress free coordination and day of execution that is hard to come by with planners. I can't even begin to explain how amazing LJ is to work with she is a wedding expert.. She made planing a wedding feel so easy and stress free. An we had a large wedding of 300 people that was over night so that says a lot too not feel stressed. We had the wedding in a beautiful location up in the Santa Cruz mountains and she went above and beyond driving all the way up to the wedding venue on multiple occasions with me and my husband to help us plan. We hired LJ as our coordinator for our wedding and she was absolutely amazing!! Everything went so smoothly and perfectly and we got so many compliments on our wedding. Laura did an absolutely amazing job helping plan and execute our wedding this summer. She was amazing to work with, always calm and up beat, and super friendly. We had a fairly large (190 people) outdoor wedding at my parents house and she coordinated the set up, delivery and clean up of everything with all of our vendors. She made sure that every last detail was absolutely perfect and stayed for several hours after the wedding was over to clean and organize everything so our families didn't have to deal with a mess in the morning. On your wedding day you want everything to be perfect and as stress free as possible and Laura made it possible for us- we couldn't have done it without her! Looking back through some of the wedding photos later I noticed so many little touches that Laura had taken care of that I hadn't even known about but that made such a difference in the overall feel and ambience of the wedding.
