I came with a group that had booked Lux for a wedding later that day. There were 4 barber and about 15 of us in total. Hailey was the barber that cut my hair and did my beard trim and it turned out great. I told her off the bat that I've been going to the same barber for about 10 years and have no clue what to ask for. I showed her a pic of myself after I got a haircut and she went straight to work. I've known Stephen for quite a while now, he was at another prominent shop in the city years ago before he opened Luxe. He's the most consistent barber I've ever been to, in my 35 year life. Every...Single...Time he cuts my hair the fade is perfect, the line up is perfect, and the top is perfect and exactly the way I want it. I will say the hair cut is half the experience, the other half is Steve. He will talk to you about everything you like, sports, cars, clothes, motorcycles, donuts, you name it he's into it..eeeven remote controlled cars.. I was just passing through town hoping to find a decent barber shop to trim my hair and beard, after reading reviews Lux looked like the winner, with Stephen the owner being the most reviewed beard master. He was unavailable and I was apprehensive to let anyone have a shot at my ginger wizard beard. Yet, Liz had an opening at 2pm and Stephen said she was great, (even without knowing him I trust a well reviewed human). Let me tell you, she was fantastic. A great hair cut, conversation and perfect beard trim. She will talk you through what she's seeing and never do anything you don't 'okay' first. After an extensive search to try and find someone that other reviewers believe does a great job trimming beards, I finally settled on Steve at Lux. There are very few people who write reviews about beard trims in the Burlington area. Most of what I read, frankly, was pretty disappointing and scary. I have a fairly decent beard, not thick and bushy like cavemen sport, but it looks pretty good when it hits a certain length. There are, however, bald spots that are hidden beneath the beard. Guys with beards like mine are loathe to let somebody just start chopping on it, because those bald spots will show through if you get a cut that isn't considerate of them. Several months of beard growth can just disappear with one swoop of a razor. The dilemma for guys like me is: trim it yourself or roll the dice and let somebody else do it. The truth is, when my beard gets to a certain length I can't make it even on both sides. I can't get enough distance from it to look at it to see if it's balanced. So the search began. The only positive reviews that I read about shops in the Burlington area were comments about Steve. So I rolled the dice. Today I received my second beard trim from Steve. He clearly knows what he's doing. he owns his own shop and he takes the time to explain to you exactly what he's doing and what you need to do in order to maintain your beard and to keep your beard soft. I wish I could give them a good review, as I've read so many, but my hair cut was uneven and wasn't remotely anything good. I was a few minutes late and apologized profusely and was told by the barber that he may not be able to finish my haircut. He rushed through the haircut and didn't even even out my sideburns or any part of my hair. Very amateur work for $34, more like a walk in barber shop that should be charging $15 per cut then a premium of $34 with no wash or clean up. One of the worse cuts I've gotten in my life. Other places in the area claim to bring back the old school barber club but LUX actually delivers. Steve and his wife outdid themselves. They turned their dream into a reality and transformed one of Burlington's oldest buildings into a top notch barbershop. Steve, who own the shop, has an appreciation for tradition establishments and services and wants to share that with others. He believes that a barbershop is a place to bring communities together and that's how he makes you feel. Like you belong. The atmosphere is great, everyone goes out of their way to make you feel welcome and you can even have a beer during your haircut. The place looks amazing but what makes is special is that their prices really connect with the neighborhood. I would have paid more and historically I have but this place is about making sure everyone in Burlington can experience the LUX service. Not something other businesses consider. I've been seeing Steve for a while now and have NEVER had a bad haircut. He takes his time and we have great conversations. I highly recommend LUX to anyone looking for a great haircut. read more

Lux is my go to barber shop. I've been with these guys since they opened and won't be going anywhere else. As a bald bearded fellow, my beard is fairly important in how I present myself and I've had some hatchet jobs done to it in the past by other places. Steve keeps everything looking good and actually pays attention to the poor couple hairs I have left on top of my head. From NYC, visiting for a few months and had no clue where to get a decent cut that wasn't from a supercuts. Found Lux on yelp and stopped by earlier this week.
