We were spot/stalking and ended up finding a nice Catalina goat and excellent Angora goat. The boys were able to make their shots and we left extremely happy campers. The ranch itself is in great shape and the wildlife appeared in very good health. If you're considering Plaska Lodge do it... you won't be disappointed.

Keep in mind, that other than 2 boys, they are all very experienced bird hunters, and the boys are pretty darn gird bird hunters. My husband and I used to tear them up in Lubbock on our own prior to the outfitters monopolizing the territory. Yesterday morning: Crane Hunt - Guide could not figure out how to get on the property and once he did, did not know where to set up. Setup was completed late. They were also set up in layout blinds which was not communicated prior - not that big a deal - but communication is key. Three birds total between 9 hunters. Birds all around, but the guide was unable to bring them in - thought they were supposed to be experienced guides? Also, guide did not clean the birds. Yesterday afternoon: Dove hunt - 3 birds total. No birds around This morning: Same 9 hunters - five birds total. A-frame blind. Same as yesterday, guide could not call them in. Guide did clean the birds. They are posting all over social media how they are tearing them up and to book your hunt - don't bother. Yes, we realize that no hunt is guaranteed, however, we have used other outfitters out there that at least looked like they knew what they were doing and we tagged out or got close to tagging out most days. With one of them even offering to take us in the afternoon because the morning was pitiful. This was the worst one yet.

Food and lodging was good...the hunting was horrible. Went for hogs and never saw a single one. The…read moreowner didn't try very hard to put us on hogs...never checked a trail cam while we were there, didn't corn roads, didn't seem to know a single thing about where, when, and how the hogs acted on his property. He only owns 400 acres (had I known that I would not have booked) and is surrounded by 200,000 acres that doesn't get hunted. Why on earth would the hogs come on his small ranch and get shot at when they have 200,000 acres to roam free on. Save yourself the time and money...go somewhere else. The owner did try to make our stay fun by shooting some pheasants, but overall I was very disappointed.

They totally ripped us off on a hunt last…read moreyear to the point where we took them to court and won a civil suit against them with the Justice of the Peace of precincts 3 and 4 in Hedley, TX in front of a jury trial with the honorable Pat White. You can check with the court for the record of this suit as we have yet to collect from this con artist, as he and his scumbag nephew Seth haven't paid us our monetary compensation that the court awarded us. We are currently seeking additional legal counsel to make this collection. He will take you to properties he doesn't have permission to hunt on and show you fake "game camera" pictures of deer in areas he has not scouted nor has permission to hunt. Dickie and his nephew Seth are crooks of the highest order and the local court as well as the honorable Pat White with a jury of their peers also agree. If you don't want to get scammed, you best avoid this business. They are complete con artists as can be shown through the court records and deserve to be shut down.
