I've seen Lynn on and off for many years. In the 1990's all I could seem to catch were Perch and Northern Pikes. All of my friends are pulling out 10lb Walleyes and I'm catching bait. Dr. Stormon has a small office in the second floor of a small retail plaza in the Manlius area. You enter from the side entrance of the building ascending a staircase before entering a small waiting room, filled with several chairs, a few lamps, and two or so tables. The tables typically have copies of Time magazine. She welcomes you into the office at the time of the scheduled visit, typically lasting 50 minutes in my experience, during which she takes you into a separate room. The other room has a tan brown couch, a few chairs and lamps, a bookcase to the left when facing Dr. Stormon and a desk beyond that abutting the opposite wall. Her bookcase has several books on the subject of psychotherapy. Dr. Stormon typically sits facing you during her sessions. She asked questions about whatever it is your talking about, comments on the subject matter, and occasionally takes notes while seated in a large chair in front on you. Her sessions are fairly passive and low key. In my case she charged $175 dollars per session, each last about 50 minutes, give or take a minute or two, and happening at a frequency of at least once weekly aside from when either of us had a schedule conflict. She accepts no insurances. In general I would say my experience with Dr. Stormon was poor. She has a clear agenda and refuses to take an active part in the therapy sessions. In looking back over my time with her, which was extensive, I felt little was accomplished by spending the exhaustive time I spent, seeing her. You simply don't always get what you pay for. What I would encourage individuals to do in evaluating perspective therapists would be to evaluate whether they have a specific issue or problem, and further, whether that problem has a concrete goal (ie resolution of anxiety, depression, improved relationship with another individual, etc.). If the answer if yes, then Dr. Stormon is not the person for you. The converse, unfortunately, is also not true. She is to inhibited to help with a more playful, exploratory or imaginative therapy. Put another way, she has an agenda, which, regardless of the circumstances, she prefers to employ. I recommend saving yourself the time and money, and find a therapist that fits your needs. Its terribly frustrating suffering from a mental illness, doubly so when you devote such resource into its management, with so little return. I'm writing this review, not as a retaliatory gesture, or because I felt she was mean spirited, ill-willed, or scheming in her behavior but because she is just bad at doing what she does-at least in my experience. In retrospect I regret utilizing her services, and, it would seem, perpetuating, the unpleasantness of my situation. I therefore strongly urges individuals to approach this clinician with caution and look for care elsewhere. read more
