Beware of this body shop. Took my car there today just for an estimate and felt like something was off. Looked at my estimate sheet and noticed the email address at the top for the appraiser had a Lyons auto body domain. Looks like Lyons has renamed themselves to attempt to get around the bad rap they have. They even repainted the building to cover up any traces of Lyons on the building. The shop is still at the same spot at 1020 Burnhamthorpe Rd. W. (just past Erindale Station) and the staff are still the same scam artists that were working there before. I will never come back on this garage ! Took almost 2 months to have my vehicle back and the problem was just panel got rip off, fuses was rip off and programming a key. I called other dealership and they say that it is impossible not to get parts for more than a month because they Have everything to give to any garages that who request. I was towed by Lyons after a recent accident. John Lyons has not responded to any calls or emails from my insurance or myself so we can get the vehicle released and taken to the shop where will it repaired. It has been almost 2 weeks. As of now a civil litigation has been started by my insurance company. I was told I can go sign a release but in fact what they want me to do is sign a form so they can repair my vehicle. There any multiple reports that this is their normal business practice. They hold cars so they can get more money from the insuance firms. AVOID THIS BUSINESS AT ALL COSTS!!!!!! BEWARE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. My insurance company warned me not to go with Lyon's and I gave this company the benefit of the doubt as the tow driver, Karam who moved my vehicle to the collision reporting center then to their yard was courteous. BIGGEST MISTAKE. I found damages in my vehicle interior and along the driver-side door. It was clear that they had issues accessing my vehicle so they attempted to pry it open. There is no shred of care or diligence with handling their client's property. Furthermore, if they had issues with accessing a customer's vehicle wouldn't it be common sense to contact the customer? Also, they held my vehicle hostage for a week even after I signed a Release form. My insurance company and their preferred tow vendor had attempted to contact them multiple times. They will dodge any and all communications to bill the insurance company more. If you like incurring damages, loss in time, money, and enjoy stress proceed with Lyon's. Tow truck brought my car here after an accident. I was told I couldn't have it moved to a different shop (I live over an hour away) took way to long to "fix" and the first time they tried delivering it to me parts under the hood weren't hooked up or completely missing. The rear view mirror was hanging by a wire. Took them another couple of weeks to "fix" it again and found out later the sunroof leaked from that point on. Worst place to deal with ever. Stay away. They rob you without a gun.. my vehicle was taken by them because I wasn't present due to be away from the country, when someone hit my parked car on a street, and because they have a contract with the Peel Police they towed my vehicle to their yard, and once they do that it is a nightmare to get it back, and how long stays in there, your bill will be astronomically high. They will try anything to keep your vehicle as long as they can. Beside they are very rude..Paid to $85.00 x 12 days + $400 tow + taxes $1,604.60...$400.00 towing charge for 6.9 km 10 mns drive...And tried to get me asking if I was going with the insurance. I told her yes, but not with them. End up removing my vehicle from that scaming place for $1,604.60 dollars. I had business with these assh@#$s years ago and I can tell that they are a SCAM! DO NOT give them your ride whatever you do, whatever they say. Understand that they cannot force you to give them your car, and furthermore, they cannot take your car without your permission. If they try to intimidate you (and that is one of the games they play), DO NOT give in to that! Tell them that you called your own Tow Service, or that you are a CAA Member (which I would strongly recommend as I am), and DO NOT let them put your car on the hoist. The moment they take it, you owe them $150 dollars, and then they will tell you that it is another $50 dollars a day for storage. And when you want your car back, you are going to have to pay for all of that. Furthermore, if you drive by the building on Burnhamthorpe, you will notice scratch marks all over the side of the building. That is because they drag cars along the side to create more damage, so that when the adjuster comes from your Insurance Company, there is a higher payout to them. This is the SCAM that they are!!!!! Several years ago, I was rear-ended on Burnhamthorpe Road near Square One mall. A tow truck arrived and the driver told me I should get it towed. It was a minor scratch, and the tow was totally unnecessary. But I was naive and didn't know any better and was sweet-talked into getting it towed. The tow truck driver took it to Lyon's Auto Body. When I was in the office reception area, the owner came out and said these exact words "it's a total job", which I understood to mean the car is totaled and un-driveable. This was simply untrue. I was again sweet-talked/manipulated into getting a rental car by this shop. My insurance company refused to pay the towing expenses and the car rental bill because it was unnecessary to have it towed to begin with, and the rental car was also unnecessary. They were right. Lyon's Auto Body talked me into getting it to towed to their shop and also to get a rental car. When the insurance wouldn't pay them, Lyon's Auto Body refused to release my car. I paid both bills(the tow and the rental car) myself and got my car. My car never needed to be towed in the first place. It would have saved me several hundred dollars if I just said NO to these people. People are free to take their car to whatever shop they want but I hope this story will make people think twice about taking it to Lyon's Auto Body read more

Our car was towed to this body shop and bcs we have 0 experience with this situation, we were totally trapped by this shop. Our insurance company told us it's not a favorable shop they work with. For the repair, they just keep delaying the process. It took us 2 months to get the car fixed. We kept pushing and they delayed it days after days! I realize that one should do this the other way around but I didn't and, after reading these reviews, I was terrified that I would not get my car back and/or the price would be over that quoted but none of that happened. They did a good job. Part of the job included replacing the windshield and a small part was not stuck back on the windshield property. After having my Range Rover stolen from my driveway it was recovered by the police. It had been in an accident and trashed inside and out. I wanted to see it but was told the police were doing forensic testing. Finally I was told my vehicle had been towed to a compound run by Lyons auto body. I drove there to see the car. Before I could see it I was presented with a blank document and told it was a release order. My insurance company contacted me to say they needed me to sign a release in order to tow my vehicle to a reputable body shop. I said I had signed one. That's when I found out I had signed a blank work order. Lyons Auto Body would not release my car. A writ of seizure has now been obtained by the court and I am now waiting for the sherif in order to have my car removed from the compound. I would never deal with lyons Auto body. DEN OF THIEVES. My Car was stolen and recovered by police and was towed to LYONS Auto Body. July 30, 2021 9AM I gave them the Vehicle Release Slip from Peel Regional Police and was able to see the car again after it was stolen. It had my 20inch rims and tires and my complete set of weathertech mats. Little did I know this was the start of a horrifying ordeal. I then immediately contacted my insurance that the vehicle is ready for pick up. I gave them a few days to sort out the paperworks but when it was almost a week I called my insurance for an update, LYONS is charging exorbitant amount of storage and admins fees to my insurance for the release of my vehicle. So the longer the vehicle is with them, the higher they can charge for all sort of fees. They basically held the car hostage! This dragged on for 2 weeks and finally my insurance was able to pick it up on the morning of Aug 13 2021. I instructed them to drop it off at honda downtown where I was waiting to see the car. Guess what? LYONS stole my rims and tires which cost me $3600 and swapped it with bald tires and dented old rims. They also stole my driver, passenger and trunk weather tech mats. I called LYON right away and spoke to John and explained the situation thinking it might just be a mixed up, he explained they have nothing to do with it ( no surprise there ). I filed a police report for the theft and when the police called LYONS with all my photo evidence , they said there was a mixed up as there was another vehicle with the same color on their impound lot. I was able to recover my rims and tires but not the weather tech mats. DO NOT, I SAY AGAIN, DO NOT engage business with LYONS AUTOBODY. They are a bunch of crooks and thieves. read more

Took my car in to fix some fender and door damage and I was helped by Brian. he gave me a great break down in the quote and gave me a very competitive price compared to other shops. once the car was admitted I asked him to take a look at my front bumper because I remembered I had some damage there too. He worked on my car and made it look better than before. I am super happy with the work. The paint match is excellent, you cant tell the difference and to top everything else off they detailed my car! This place is a fraudulent operation. Do not let them touch your vehicle. See cbc marketplace and ctv for stories on them. They hold your car hostage to charge huge storage fees, will dodge calls from your insurance company and lie about the work they have done. We had a car accident in Dec 2018 and they held onto our car and then did repairs without our consent. There was over 16,000$ worth of damage to the vehicle and a second evaluator of the work they had done estimated that they only complete 5000-6000$ worth of work but claimed they had completed it. Things were glued together and other items such as the heat shield were never even replaced even though they invoiced for it. They did such a poor job and then wouldn't own up to their work that our insurance company had to deem it a write off and is going after them for fraud. read more

I was persuaded by an employee of Lyons Auto Body, into removing my original Yelp review however; what was done to me was degrading and needs to be known. Due to the Review Guidelines of Yelp, I will not be disclosing the names of the employees who work at Lyons Auto Body. They will be referred to as: EMPLOYEES, he, she, and they. My car was towed to Lyons Auto Body shop and I went in to sign a release form for my car to be moved to CarStar, which my insurance company works with and recommended. When I went into Lyons Auto Body, I met 'EMPLOYEE B' and he convinced me to sign a form consenting for them to take a look at my car. I contacted my insurance company right away when I left Lyons Auto Body, and they recommended that I have my car released instead of Lyons Auto Body looking at it. I immediately called Lyons Auto Body back and spoke with 'EMPLOYEE B' and I told him to disregard that form I signed. He replied "okay". I also told him to NOT have anyone touch my car and 'EMPLOYEE B' said "okay". I called back shortly and notified the lady at the front desk that I will be bringing in my release form tomorrow, and she agreed it was fine. I brought the release form to them the very next day and left. 9 days later, my car was still sitting at Lyons. I decided to call CarStar, as that is who was supposed to pick up my car. The representative from CarStar told me they were waiting on Lyons to pick up their phone, as CarStar keeps calling and no one ever answers. I called Lyons Auto Body and I asked to speak to someone regarding my release form, which I was told was 'EMPLOYEE J' (owner). I was transferred to his extension but had to leave a voice message. I called Lyons back and asked if 'EMPLOYEE J' was physically in the office and the lady at the front desk said yes. I told her I will be coming in to see him right now. She said okay. When I got there, I told the lady I was there to see 'EMPLOYEE J'. She went to the back to get him and 'EMPLOYEE B' came out instead. He began telling me someone is coming to look at my car on Friday and that my insurance company is to blame. I immediately called my insurance company and they told me that the lady who deals directly with Lyons said they cannot do anything because Lyons has a work order form from me. As aforementioned: I CALLED LYONS AND NOTIFIED 'EMPLOYEE B' TO DISREGARD THAT FORM, AND HE AGREED. I got upset and asked 'EMPLOYEE B' why he did not disregard that form?! He kept going back and forth with no answer, to "It was a part of the process for the people to come look at it". Like I said, I ordered for no one to touch my car and he AGREED. The lady who I had on the phone from my insurance company told me that they should have NOT touched my car as I TOLD them NOT to. 'EMPLOYEE B' removed the hood of my car. 'EMPLOYEE B' became extremely rude and unprofessional, as he was LITERALLY yelling at me, telling me it's my insurance company to blame. He also yelled at me telling me my car was a write off. I got so upset that I began to cry. 'EMPLOYEE B' used these words and said "you're a psychopath". I told him he cannot talk to me that way and that was not good customer service. How does a worker call their customer a psychopath? I was in tears. There was clearly something wrong with what they did. The lady at the front desk came over to me and tried to touch me to guide me outside and talk. I told her do not touch me. I asked her to speak to someone higher than 'EMPLOYEE B' and she said she is higher. I asked her how she is allowing him to speak to me that way. She said she told him to stop. Him stopping doesn't disregard what he did and said to me. 'EMPLOYEE B' then picked up my glasses and car keys and brought them to me and told me I need to leave. I told him to NOT touch my stuff. I then asked 'EMPLOYEE B' and the lady at the front desk to give me the work form back or get rid of it. They gave me a COPY of it. I told them to disregard the original. I am not even sure if they listened. I was on the phone with my insurance company that entire time I was present at Lyons Auto Body. The lady I was speaking to let me know the entire call was recorded. The lady from my insurance company then called Lyons Auto Body and told them to NOT touch my car or the matter will be taken to court. I am grateful for that much, from my insurance company. A few days later, a gentleman who works with my insurance company went to take a look at my car to give me an appraisal of how much it would cost to fix. For my safety, I asked the gentleman with my insurance company to be with me with 'EMPLOYEE J'. We met up with the owner of Lyons Auto Body: 'EMPLOYEE J'. Before going inside, 'EMPLOYEE J' spoke to me in private asking if we could talk alone and I firmly told him NO, the guy from my insurance company WILL be in the room with us. When all 3 of us went into the room, 'EMPLOYEE J' told me he read my review on Yelp and told me that if I removed it, he will release my car. read more

Over 4 years ago, I damaged my car on Christmas Eve 2011 by accidentally hitting a fence. My entire front grill fell off, rendering it undrivable. I called the police to report it. Like a bunch of wild vultures, a Lyons tow truck appeared, and apparently had "just happened to drive by and saw this predicament I was in," and would "offer to tow my car back to Lyons." I declined, as I wanted to opt with CAA (which I had). Suddenly, a woman appeared in another car, identified herself as a manager at Lyons. She had "just happened to be driving home from work and saw this predicament I was in," and "I should definitely take up the offer for the tow back to Lyons." I kept politely declining, and even the cop on the scene quietly mentioned to me to "not trust these vultures." But the Lyons people kept persisting and pressuring me, saying I won't get a tow for hours on Christmas Eve. Having no backbone, I caved in, and let them them tow it to Lyons, which then became the shop to fix my car by default, I suppose. Around a week later the car was fixed and Lyons billed us over $10K for the work. Our insurance company investigated it and discovered that Lyons had done additional damage to the car in order to bill more. The insurance company wasn't gonna pay it, and we sure as hell wasn't going to pay it. I think this investigation and the non-payment thing kept going on for the next while. Fast forward to May 2012 and Lyons threatens us with repossession if the bill wasn't paid for. My dad tells me to start parking the car in our garage just in case (I park it outside all spring and summer), wasn't sure if he was serious but I obliged. As it wasn't our issue, our insurance company told us they would handle the situation. We never heard again from any of the two parties, and naturally it was assumed everything was resolved. Life cruises by and I continue to park in the garage at all times out of habit. Fast forward to the morning of September 23, 2014. I start my day waking up at 5:30am, ready to go to work. I shower, get dressed, and step out into my garage with keys in hand, only to notice my car wasn't in its usual spot. Still a tad groggy, I wondered if I somehow parked on the driveway and forgot about it. I open the garage door and peer outside, and nothing. Slight confusion sets in, and I go back into the house and wake up my parents and ask them if they moved my car for whatever reason. They wake up in confusion and panic, and at that point I thought, "omg wtf my car got stolen." That was a viable thought because I recalled our garage door was open all day the previous day, coupled with the fact that we got new next-door neighbours who were renovating everything; I arrived at the possible conclusion that one of the construction workers somehow was able to hotwire and steal the car sometime during the day before. I called the cops to report a stolen vehicle, and upon giving my vehicle information, they immediately said that the car had been repossessed. Instantly my family and I recall the entire Lyons ordeal that we had forgotten over the past year. Quickly we contact all parties involved and review our house cameras, which confirm that Lyons had snuck onto the property to tow away my car the day before, without any warning whatsoever (as pictured). I don't know much about the legality of the issue, but I'm sure that they were supposed to officially inform us that they were repossessing our car. Either way, that threw a wrench into my day and I had to cancel all my appointments. My wallet and other things were still in my car so we would have to go and retrieve them. Later in the day we go into Lyons to get my wallet and confront them, as they were being pretty vague about everything on the phone. We ask them to show us the repo order or some document to show that they did it under legal means. The guy in charge fed us some excuse that I don't even know, as well as displacing the blame on "head office" who gave out the repo order. That sleezebag continued to talk a lot about something, but I couldn't further process his bullshit, he was so full of it. I retrieved my wallet from my car, did a quick mental check of the state of it, and got out of there before I was tempted to flip his stupid little table in his lobby out of anger. The insurance company and Lyons then talked things out in a face-to-face meeting the next day, and somehow resolved everything. Lyons then hand delivered my car back to my house on a flatbed truck, and even cleaned the entire car. That doesn't even begin to make up for all the criminal business practices that they commit. Lesson learned, I will always close my garage door." One commenter stated: "I used to work for RBC insurance claims. Looks like nothing has changed in almost half a century. The recent horror stories others tell remind me of my experience with Lyons in 1971 or 72. My 1969 GTO got hit by someone coming though a stop sign, and I was unfortunate enough to get towed to Lyons. I don't remember all the details - just that their tow truck showed up and towed my car to their shop, dealing with them was incredibly frustrating, it took a couple months to get my car back, and when I got it back the job was crap, including the use of some Tempest parts that differed from GTO parts. The car was never the same as before the accident. To this day, I feel nothing but anger when I think of Lyons. Sorry to see they are still in business and still ripping off accident victims. read more
