A complete headache from start to finish. Avoid Routes. We will never rent from Routes again. Despite there being no line when we arrived at their off-airport location, the pickup process took an eternity. There was an endless mountain of paperwork (some on paper and some digital) and upsell offers, and more than half the time, we were just standing there with no idea what we were actually waiting for. It took just as long for the car to finally be brought out to us. When we finally got the vehicle, it only had 1/4 tank of gas. While they only required us to return it with the same amount, starting a trip on empty is incredibly inconvenient, especially if you have a long drive ahead. To make matters worse, the car was FILTHY. I have never seen a dirtier rental car. The exterior was bad, but the interior was gross. The rearview mirror was so caked in grime that it actively blocked the driver's view--wiping it with a simple tissue brought up a disgusting amount of dirt. Even worse, we found used chewing gum left behind in the rear passenger side storage pocket, which ended up getting stuck to a drink my sister placed there. Absolutely disgusting. Returning the car was fast, but equally frustrating. At pickup, a staff member did a quick video walkthrough to document pre-existing scratches and assured us we wouldn't be responsible. Because it was dark, I was skeptical of her video quality and thankfully took a ton of my own photos. Sure enough, at return, a different staff member asked us about those exact scratches and demanded proof that we didn't cause it. When I brought up the employee video, it was completely ignored. If I hadn't taken my own photos, we would have been wrongfully charged. All in all, a terrible experience. I have no idea how this place has high ratings on Expedia (8.1 out of 10, where I rented through) and Google Reviews (4.6 stars). Save yourself the stress and rent elsewhere. read more
I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I work at the airport and get asked all the time which car rental companies I suggest -- and I can promise you I will make sure no one who asks me ever comes here. What should have been a simple "pick up, sign, and go" turned into a 3-hour nightmare: The first car they gave us had no oil, forcing us to U-turn and bring it back after barely driving down the street. When we brought it up, the front desk agent casually said, "Maybe they forgot to check." Are these cars not supposed to be serviced and safety-certified before being rented out? After waiting in line again, we discovered we were wrongly charged for insurance, even though we had a transferable policy. We then spent over an hour going back and forth between our insurance company and the front agent, who somehow "misunderstood" and thought our insurance policy number was the date. We were told the charge was refunded and would "show up in 3 business days." Six days later, guess what? Still no refund. The second car wasn't any better: no windshield washer fluid, a low tire, and no spare tire in case of emergencies. The next day, we got an email about an extra charge for taking the car out of province -- a so-called "policy" that was apparently on a handwritten sign taped to their wall. When we returned the car after six days, we had to wait another 45 minutes just to speak to someone about our missing refund. Everything about this place screams unprofessional and unsafe: Poorly maintained vehicles Hidden fees Untrained staff Zero attention to customer safety The only positive thing I can say? The place smelled good. At least we spent three hours of our lives in a space that didn't smell like garbage. Save yourself the stress -- rent anywhere else read more

Too good to be true... Please keep this in mind. Multiple hidden fees that you do not see when you book online. I had to cancel the deal because of that on the booked date. read more

REGRET, REGRET, REGRET. Booked car. Desk Agent refused my top flight AAA insurance and did not give me car. Charged me anyway, even after saying they would not. Refused to provide refund even after travelocity/ Expedia contacted them in my behalf and I also co text them directly. Told my family about this - who love in area and they let me know ROUTES are notorious crooks.... BE WARNED. I wish I knew better before I booked. Out hundreds and had to make other transportation arrangements. (Not to mention huge hassle to get to offsite shady looking location). Contacted Travelocity from which booking was made and Routes and both point fingers back at each other with no resolution. read more

Check-in was easy as we did it through Expedia. We picked up the car-it had minimal scratches to front and back bumper/fender which they documented via cell phone so you don't get a paper with it outlined for you as proof. The car had very little gas in it and we were told we could bring it back empty as well - we didn't. We arrived at 7 am - we were told that's when they open. They don't open until 8. We joined a small group of others (that were told the same) to wait. As I was calling the help number to see what we should do, my mother spoke to someone dressed as security who said we could leave the keys with him and just uber to the airport. That isn't what the customer service help line NOR the agent we spoke to when we picked up the car said to do so we opted out. Instead I looked for a drop box as the help line said. No drop box so we decided we'd leave to drop off our bags and check-in for our international flight and come back at 8 when they open so we could give keys to the proper person, be present for the final car check, and get our receipt. During that time the same security guard in the parking lot, too lazy to get out of his car, kept honking at us to come over to him. I yelled out twice "we're fine. Thank you." As I got back in the vehicle preparing to leave he walks over and angrily beats on the window yelling "you got a problem?? roll down the window. I told you to give me the keys and just uber." I tell you no one is more lucky than a fool because there was nothing stopping me from just backing the car out and hitting him. It's dark. This idiot is an unknown physically male (presenting) person walking up aggressively to two women in a parking lot demanding they hand him the keys to the vehicle. He thought wearing a walmart sweater that said Security on it was the same as a super suit. I repeatedly said no. we made different plans. He just kept repeating the same thing - and so did I - and finally he said "this is private property so get out" I reminded him HE was the one holding us up we were already leaving until he wanted to have a confrontation. We went on to the airport. Three things were made clear in that one monent. 1.) While all human presenting beings are deuterostomes (meaning we form our a$$hole first), he's proof not all progress past that initial stage. Despite appearances to the contrary, he's still one -shame on him and whatever raised him. 2.) He is living on plan G of his life and mad about it. 3.) We will never rent from this company again. Any company that employs aggressive morons that try to call women over to their car OR walk up to them and harass them under the guise of "safety" is not a company anyone should do business with. Stay far away. read more

Don't rent from Routes. I rented a car at Pearson, getting to their location required some sleuthing, but figured it out. They were nice at the rental office. They told me I would be charged if I took the car out of the province without notifying them, fine I had no intention of leaving the province. Within days of renting the car they sent me an email with a map saying I had left the province and would be charged $388 cdn. I emailed back I had not left the province, they repeated their policy. Where the map came from I have no idea, was there a tracking device on the car. Well if there was it wasn't tracking the car I rented. I feel like Routes gets you in with a low price and then makes up the difference with this kind of scam. When I returned home I disputed the charge on my VISA and explained using other transactions on my card (Like Gas stations) where I had driven and that there were not enough kilometers on the car to allow me to also have driven to Quebec. Amazingly the charge was not reversed when to me the evidence was obvious. I never could get a VISA representative to call me and tell me why. read more

I booked with unlimited mileage and paid for insurance online, but I was charged for extra miles and had to pay for insurance again or I wouldn't get the car. The customer service was terrible. I traveled from another province, and my flight was delayed by 13 hours. The first thing I wanted was to pick up the car and relax to make my trip worthwhile. Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience with Routes Car Rental (via Uber Rentals) I booked a car through Uber Rentals, which partnered with Routes Car Rental, and had one of the most frustrating customer experiences I've ever had. When I arrived to pick up my car, Routes refused to release it because I have an Ontario G2 driver's license instead of a full G. This was completely unexpected because Uber's booking process never mentioned that a full G license was required. I went through every step of the reservation -- entered my license info, confirmed payment -- and there was no warning or disclosure about this restriction. What makes this worse is that earlier this year Routes rented me a car under the same G2 license with no problem at all. So either their policy suddenly changed or it's being enforced inconsistently. Either way, I showed up prepared, with all documents, and was denied the car through no fault of my own. I contacted Uber support immediately, and they said Routes told them I "didn't provide a valid license," which is simply false -- my G2 is valid and accepted by Ontario law for driving rental vehicles. Despite this, both Uber and Routes refused to issue a refund. In short, I was charged for a service I never received, because of poor communication, misleading information, and unprofessional handling by both companies. If you plan to rent from Routes -- especially through Uber Rentals -- double-check every small policy detail, because neither company will take responsibility when their lack of transparency leaves you stranded. Would not recommend. read more

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally address a series of unacceptable experiences and suspected fraudulent practices encountered during my interaction with Routes Car Rental at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) on September 27, 2025. This letter outlines the issues faced, the financial impact, and my demands for resolution. Background and Initial Agreement Prior to my arrival, I provided Routes Car Rental's UK head office with my credit card insurance certificate, which was reviewed and approved as sufficient to meet the insurance requirements for the rental vehicle. This approval was a prerequisite for my rental agreement, and I proceeded with the booking through a British intermediary company, Wisecars, under the assumption that all terms were clear and agreed upon. Issues Encountered at the Rental Location Upon arriving at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport on September 27, 2025, I discovered that the Routes Car Rental pick-up location was not situated at the airport as implied but required a shuttle transfer. The lack of clear signage or instructions forced me to rely on assistance from other car rental agencies to locate the shuttle, causing unnecessary delay and inconvenience. At the rental location, I was informed by a staff member, identified with a black scarf, that a refundable deposit of 16,000 MAD was required to cover potential vehicle damage, with documentation to be provided for any insurance claims. However, the staff member claimed that my credit card, which had been pre-approved by Routes' UK office, was declined after multiple attempts to process the deposit. I immediately contacted my bank, RBC Canada, which confirmed that no transaction for 7,000 MAD (the second part of the split deposit) was received or declined. The staff member then proposed an alternative non-refundable daily deductible payment in lieu of the refundable deposit, which I found unacceptable given the prior approval of my card and the refundable nature of the deposit. When I offered an alternative credit card to complete the transaction, the staff member insisted that only the original card could be used, further complicating the process. This restriction appears arbitrary and unjustified. After splitting the deposit into two payments (9,000 MAD and 7,000 MAD), the first payment was processed successfully, but the second was allegedly declined, despite my bank's confirmation that no such transaction was attempted. I contacted Wisecars, who advised me to obtain the Merchant Category Code (MCC) to verify the absence of declined transactions. They indicated that, upon confirmation, they would refund the rental fee, allowing me to seek an alternative rental provider. I also spoke with an individual identified as the business owner, Ms. Khalili (name unconfirmed), who offered no viable solutions to resolve the issue. During this time, other customers were processed without apparent issues, suggesting that the problem was specific to my transaction and raising concerns about targeted mishandling. Unprofessional Conduct and Suspected Fraud After two hours of unproductive discussions, I was coerced into paying a non-refundable fee of 880 MAD (approximately 150 CAD) for a 12-day rental period using a different credit card, as the only means to secure a vehicle. This fee was presented as the sole option, leaving me with no practical alternative after significant delays. Additionally, during the interaction, staff requested that I leave the premises due to their lunch break, which I refused, as it was highly unprofessional and dismissive of my situation as a customer. The lack of proficiency in English, even among senior staff, and the overall disregard for customer service were evident throughout the interaction. More concerningly, I strongly suspect that the second transaction for 7,000 MAD was never attempted, as confirmed by my bank, and that this was a deliberate tactic to extract the non-refundable 880 MAD fee. This suspicion is reinforced by the fact that Routes Car Rental operates under multiple brands at this location, including Rental 2, NextCar, Priceless, and others, which may obscure accountability and facilitate questionable practices. I also spoke with RBC VISA card - 1 800 769 2512 - on Sep 10 2025, at 8: 34 AM and Lumi told me that on Sep 27th there were no approaches on my credit card which was declined. This proofs the scam at the car rental level. Requested Remedies Given the deceptive practices, unprofessional conduct, and financial loss incurred, I request the following: A full refund of the 880 MAD (approximately 150 CAD) non-refundable fee, as it was imposed under duress and following a potentially fraudulent transaction process. read more

Picked up the car with an empty tank and was told that we can return it empty! Keep in mind that the tank was so empty that we barely made it to the gas station. Drop off is in the back of the building with no entrance to the office. So you have to drop off your car and walk around the building with all your luggages, car seat etc which can be hard specially with the current weather conditions. Also, this location is offsite, you need to walk to a train station, take the train, and then a shuttle might pick you up at that station to bring you to the office which is a total hassle specially if you have luggage or a small child with you. We took an uber and saved ourselves the headache. read more

WARNING: Avoid Routes Car Rental! I booked a car rental through Routes Car Rental, prepaid in full, only to be charged an additional $2,490 USD at pickup. I was told this charge was a refundable deposit, but after returning the car undamaged, I found it had been kept as a nonrefundable "Third Party Liability" insurance I never agreed to. The TPL fee was never disclosed on the Routes website It was never explained as nonrefundable The company even threatened me with a €1,000 penalty for disputing the charge with my credit card When I contacted Routes, they denied wrongdoing and pointed to "terms" that did not exist at the time of booking. read more

Absolute scam! They forced us to buy insurance and additional driver fee again totaling to about $900 at the counter when it was already paid to Economy Bookings. When I booked this car, I was promised to pay only about $1,200. With the additional charge, the car rental was about $2000 for 12 days. They refused to give us the car if we didn't buy the additional insurance. We are tourists and were stranded if we don't get the car as our accomodation was one hour away from the site outside the city. They said Economy Bookings would refund the money; however, Economy Bookings refused stating no accident claims were made. I will never book a car through them again and will advise everyone I know to be aware of this scam! Why would Routes Car Rental partner with Economy Bookings if they don't accept their insurance? Is it to make money on both sides using the loop holes in contract to double charge on insurance and other fees per customer? This is such an unethical company. When we were at the counter, the line up was very long. Customers were angry and confused on why their insurances were not accepted when they booked it through the third party broker that they partnered with. The setting was chaotic and loud. It took us 1.5 hours to get the car. I know a couple that took 4 hours to get their car as their first car was not available. The second car was not cleaned as it had a bottle of urine. The whole experience is absolutely ridiculous! read more

My wife had a reservation. When she got from Vancouver to Mississagua she was told do to 'operation breakdown' they didn't have a car for her. This created a very stressful situation for her. They didn't offer her any assistance of any kind, such as calling sister agencies to find her a car or paying the extra $600 it cost her to go with a different company. Avoid like the plague! I returned my prepaid rental car at the Dorval location and I was told that there were no additional charges. I then received an emailed receipt showing that no additional charges were due. When I got home, I saw that the additional amount of CDN$174.91 had been charged to my credit card after the car was returned. When I questioned the charge, I was told that there was in fact no additional charge, and I was told to send proof. When I first sent documentation of the charge, I was told it was not received. When I sent proof of the charge a second time, Routes still insisted that there was no additional charge. I am currently in the process of disputing the charge through my credit card company. DELETED REVIEW: guys, I just posted yesterday my honest review of the terrible customer service and how he made us have to prove by either speaking to our car insurance agent or by showing him our entire car policy. Somehow it got deleted within 24 hours. I told the guy multiple times I'd take the liability of 30k should something happen to the car, and if I was "wrong" about my insurance covering rental cars but he wouldn't accept it. He just kept on with his sarcasm and being condescending to me and my mom likely because we were two women renting a car. Interestingly my review has disappeared so im going to keep posting it so people are aware to NOT COME HERE. Spend the few extra bucks, and have a convenient guest service with a rep who actually believes his customers and doesn't give them a hard time and make them stand there for one hour trying to get ahold of their car insurance on the phone because he doesn't trust our word for it. On online booking companies such as Expedia Etc. they have fairly good rates and advertise unlimited kilometers. However, when you get there, (or when you return the car...) they tell you that it's only 200 km's, and that unlimited does not apply to local Quebec customers. Another thing they do, they ask you for a 2nd piece of ID with an address. Since most ID's you have to not have an address, they suggest you to login to your Bank or CC account, show them the statement, take a screenshot and email it to them... When I called Expedia to complain about the KM's, they told me that I should have read all the rules and regulations before confirming the booking and I would have seen that it does not apply to Quebec. read more

I haven't rented a car in several years so it was So the process was pretty painless and I got a new car which drove very well. I returned the car about an hour early (2 hours if you count the grace period). There was an inspection done of the car and the girl told me it looks fine and asked I sign. I did and went home. I opened up my email and they told me that the car was too dirty and that they're charging me 250$ for cleaning. I could have vacuumed it (there was sand from the beach) or even gotten it detailed which would have cost around 100$. I would even have eaten a 125$ charge and shrugged my shoulders and thought that I should have done things differently. That's pretty sneaky which is too bad because I would have gone back. Do not ever rent a car from Routes Car Rental. This is the worst experience I have ever had renting a car. I had arranged to rent a car from Routes through CarFlexi (this was set up on May 9, almost a month ahead of time). The arrangement was that a shuttle from Routes would pick me up at upon my arrival at Calgary airport and take me to their rental agency just outside the airport to pick up the car. I arrived at Calgary airport at around 9:45 PM on June 7 as planned. First of all, the instructions that I received for contacting the car rental shuttle upon my arrival at Calgary airport were wrong. The instructions said to go to bay 6 in the Calgary airport where there was supposed to be a phone which, if I hit "2", would connect me to the Routes shuttle service. So I went to Bay 6 but there was no phone. I noticed that the instructions also provided me with a phone number to call which would connect me directly to the Routes office. I called the number on my cell and got an answering machine that said the Routes office closed at 8 PM!. I left a message stating that I was at the airport and could they please come and pick me up and I gave them my cell number. I then noticed on the pillar at Bay 6 that their was a small paper sign taped to the pillar that said the pick up for the car rental service was now at Bay 20 (I think it was Bay 20 or 21 or 22 - can't remember which one it was). So I walked down to Bay 20 and I found a man (who was on my flight) who was also waiting for the Routes shuttle. This man actually received different instructions from mine. His instructions said nothing about going to bay 6. His instruction simply said to call the Routes office (same number that I was given) and Routes would arrange for a shuttle to pick him up at Bay 20. He had already called (about 20 minutes earlier) and got the same answering machine I did. He also left a message like I did. We waited for almost an hour but no shuttle came and we were not contacted by Routes. We realized that we had better start looking into other options, such as renting a car from another agency, as it was almost 11 PM and we were concerned that the other car rental agencies might be closing at 11. Fortunately, the other car rental agencies in the airport were close by and still open. I rented a car from Thrifty. It cost me more than my Routes rental; however, the service and car were excellent. The next day I waited till around 10:30 AM for Routes to call me and give them a chance to apologize. They didn't call me. So I called Routes and told them what happened. They found my reservation in their system but they did not offer up any explanation as to why they never showed up the previous night. Fortunately, they had not yet charged my credit card (thank goodness) although Carflexi charged me $25 for arranging the rental. Routes offered no apologies. Do not rent from Routes. read more

I rented a car through this employer from 6 to 10 June, 2019. I am a disabled veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces with a service dog who's registered with the province of BC. This rental agency charged me $169.50 for a "pet cleaning fee". I explained the current legislation both in BC and in Ontario that a service dog is most certainly not a "pet". The counter agent acknowledged that my service dog was not a pet, yet stated "we are going to charge you anyways". I walked over to the managers office and asked him to intervene as I had spoke with him when picking up the vehicle. I showed my dogs certification to which he agreed there would be no pet cleaning fee as I have a service dog prior to my accepting the vehicle. During my conversation with the manager, he stated "I'm on the phone, so whatever the desk agent says". I confirmed that he was breaching the law and violating my rights, which he again told me "whatever the desk agent says" and returned to his phone call with the president of routes. After being charged, I emailed routes customer service with a detailed explanation of what transpired, even providing a link to the specific laws they were in breach of. If routes if violating the rights of disabled veterans, after being advised of the law with routes desk agent, toronto manager, and routes customer service still refusing to provide a refund, I would highly advise finding another rental company. I've filed with the Accessibility Ontario Disabilities ACT administrators who will not only ensure I receive a full refund, but require routes staff in Ontario to receive training on the ACT, plus initial fine that starts at 10,000. The fact they emailed me stating they know they're violating my rights, yet refuse to provide a refund, should be a huge concern to most supervisors and senior executives of this employer. I'll also be following up with the BC Securities Division to ensure that routes BC employees have been instructed and trained in their responsibilities when it comes to disabled persons rights. All will cost this employer probably a slight amount over simply doing the right thing and refunding my 169.50. I want all my money back and an apology. After every government agency, both Canadian and American have completed their inspection and investigations. read more

I am actually bit surprised with some of the comments / reviews on Routes Car Rentals. I would actually fully concur with Israel W that attention and the service I had received was absolutely remarkable. I would also endorse Saif Siraji for an absolute professional approach and courtesy, not to me only but the other customers as well during my presence in Routes' offices. Being a regular traveller globally. This was the very first time, I tried a car rental outside the airports. At first the wait for the shuttle was a tedious and getting of a journey of total 22 hours, the last that I needed was that last wait. The shuttle arrived well within the time committed to me (15 mins, but the shuttle was there in 12 mins). Then the long drive to the Routes office appeared never ending. When I arrived at the office, the attitude of each and every staff was very polite and welcoming. The staff who drove the other customers to the offices did not allow anyone to take their luggage off themselves. When I entered the office, the staff was very courteous to every client, including myself. My request was attended by Ms. Tanya Pabla, who started off attending my reservation very politely and requested the required document and information in a very professional order, which I immediately provided. The car that I had reserved was not available, which naturally was not pleasing to me as a customer however I was offered an immediate upgrade without any additional cost. When I dropped off the car, I was immediately attended by Saif Siraji and given that I was off the NY and was bit late for my departure. Said immediately offered me to be dropped of at Terminal 1 instead of the shuttle area. I was literally at the Terminal in 3 minutes. Thank you Saif - I made it to the checkin desk right on time! Overall, I had the car for 4 days and already considering a rental for 3 weeks this coming summer. If the price offered remains competitive, despite the location of the pick up and drop off of the car off from the Airport. I will certainly deal with Routes. If they can only improve or shorten the period of time for customers to wait and get to their offices as soon as possible, I have no doubt that they would be able to knock the competition off remarkably. read more

I recently made a reservation and pre-paid for a Routes car rental through an online travel agency on behalf of my 81-year-old mother. However, upon arriving at the Toronto airport rental location, she was shockingly refused the car simply because of her age. This refusal of service resulted in significant financial loss and inconvenience to her as alternate travel arrangements needed to be made for her stay. Seeking a refund or credit since no service was rendered, I was met with disappointment when Routes declined my request. They told me that since the car was booked through a 3rd party, I should seek a refund from them. The travel agency, however, insists that the ability to refund rests with Routes alone. This unfortunate incident highlights several concerning issues: 1. Lack of Transparent Rental Conditions: The rental conditions outlined in the contract were not adequately disclosed, leaving us unaware of any age-related restrictions. Clear and explicit terms could have avoided this distressing situation. 2. Unjust Age Discrimination: My mother holds a valid driver's license and boasts a clean driving record. The refusal based solely on her age is undoubtedly a case of ageism, which is unfair and discriminatory. 3. Unwarranted Loss of Funds: Routes' refusal to provide a refund despite failing to deliver the rented service is unacceptable. On the day of the incident, there was an abundance of unrented vehicles, meaning that providing a refund would not have resulted in any loss to Routes. In summary, Routes Car Rentals took my money and denied any reimbursement or credit, despite not rendering the service they were contracted for. This experience has left me feeling deeply dissatisfied and taken advantage of. This situation serves as a stark reminder of the importance of fair and transparent business practices and the need to address age discrimination in the service industry. read more

USE OTHER CAR RENTAL COMPANY IF YOU DO NOT WANT HEFTY UNEXPECTED CHARGES, RIDICULOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DIRTY CARS. DO NOT USE ROUTES CAR RENTAL OR NU CAR RENTAL. Was supposed to be charged $115.51 and instead, I was charged $168.31 because of underage fees. I was fine with this. When I went back home and saw my CC statements, they charged an additional $25 fee (without any receipts and explanations). When I asked about what the charges were, they told me it was because of cancelling another reservation within 48 hours. I booked through expedia and expedia has a 6 hours cancellation policy (NOT 48 HOURS). On the day I inquired about the $25, that's the day they charged my credit card another $98, without any explanations, receipts and authorization. I inquired again multiple times on these two charges and they didn't reply my email. The CSR Rep was named Michael. I asked for his last name including a phone number that I can talk to to discuss this matter but wasn't replied. Since then, I've also seen many people complaining about numerous unexpected and unauthorized charges in their CC after they've returned the car, including a ridiculous $50 admin fee for processing tolls (in addition to the tolls itself). Customer Service is terrible and this is how they make money, hoping that people would not bother disputing this. If any of you experienced this, I encourage you to report to Better Business Bureau (BBB) Canada + Consumer Protection Ontario and even Major News Agencies in Canada and get a creditcard chargeback. For me, it's not about the money. It's about how dirty this company earns their money and I need to expose this matter. AGAIN, TO SAVE YOU TROUBLE, DO NOT USE ROUTES CAR RENTAL OR NU CAR RENTAL! THEY'RE THE SAME COMPANY. read more

I rented a vehicle through Orbitz on May 25th from your Atlanta GA location, and when I arrived to pick up the Jeep I rented on Friday, June 12th I was informed that there weren't any Jeeps available for me. However there were literally 25 Jeeps on the lot. So they pulled keys for a Kia Soul which then the porter checked and pulled out for me. I realized it had a cracked windshield right away from 100 feet away, he did as well and he still prepped it for washing. I walked up and said I was not taking a car with a cracked windshield. Then after a small wait, I was given Keys for a Kia Forte, which had dead bugs in the back of it. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. I was forced to take this car as there were literally no other options. I could have picked any other rental car company but I picked yours for the option of the Jeep and was inexpensive, and then to not get one as they "were not available" doesn't make any sense to me. It honestly seems like one big scam to me. There were 3 other people ahead of me and none of them got the cars that they had reserved. You got us all to reserve cars through you for a very low price and then when we show up there are literally none of the cars that you advertise. What will you do to make this right? I paid through Orbitz ahead of time and then also had to give a very large deposit of $350 when another person had to give a lower deposit of $200. In the very least I need a refund for the difference in the price of the two cars Jeep vs Kia Forte. I have sent three emails, and yet to hear back from your "customer service" team with a resolution. I also have yet to receive the refund to my credit card for my deposit. read more

Although we were a little scared because of the bad online reviews we actually had a pleasant experience with them. They even accommodated us to pick up the car an hour earlier than booked, at no extra charge. A better car was available for us when we arrived and the documents were done pretty fast both at the pick-up and drop-off. However, we came very well prepared, had everything printed, their quote, our Ontario car insurance, and we made sure we read the whole contract they sent us online, as there were many details that we were not aware at the time of the booking. They give you all the details there that the unlimited mileage is only fro the people living in Ontario etc, and what insurance docs you need to present in case you don't want to purchase insurance from them etc. We did not need pick -up from the airport to their location, so I cannot comment on that. They could be a little friendlier and more talkative to give you more trust, as they are very quiet and that made us feel a little uneasy as if they are hiding information from us, but actually I guess that was just a matter of personality. Overall we had a great expedience at a good price. The car was absolutely nice and very new. read more

THIS PLACE WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY, This is no Joke. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. They charge you a month later on the credit card they have on file for other expenses without your authorization. I wholeheartedly believe this happens often. Please listen to the majority of reviews. If you see a 5 star review it's most likely a friend of the company. I called them and they will not provide you any explanation, or they say they can't hear you and they'll call back but they don't. My credit card was charged on the day of return $50.68 September 9th. On October 10 (a month later) they sent another bill and charged me $64 more dollars. I had the car for ONE DAY. I drove on a road that had a toll and it cost $2.97, they billed me that and then an admin charge for $50. I know that places like this don't care because they have your money. I hope that this review helps other people that work hard for their money, only to have people and companies like this steal from you. I use to think that people who wrote bad reviews were exaggerating, or just people who like to complain, but as I look at the people who gave this a one star, I understand now. Some do write them for a reason. Like I just did. read more

I had an extremely frustrating and downright unprofessional experience with Routes Car Rental. After my flight was cancelled, I called them two days later to confirm if they could still rent me a vehicle. Over the phone, I was explicitly assured that a car would be ready for me. Trusting their word, I drove 45 minutes to their location. The moment I arrived, everything they promised over the phone was completely dismissed. They flat-out denied ever having a vehicle available and acted as if the conversation never happened. Their staff showed zero accountability, zero urgency, and zero concern for the fact that they had given me wrong information that caused a long, unnecessary trip. The customer service was careless, dismissive, and shockingly unprofessional. This entire experience wasted my time, added stress to an already difficult situation, and showed me exactly how unreliable this company is. Based on their dishonesty, lack of professionalism, and complete disregard for customers, I strongly advise against renting from Routes Car Rental. read more

Rick at the front desk says I owe $65 additional dollars after pre paying online. He said my cargo transit van was oversized and will cost more than double a standard size car. I google sizes, it's 2" longer than one mid size car I checked. That's more than double! For 2"? Then his helper joins in "anything bigger than an F-150 is oversized" mines 9" smaller! So we're good right? No, now the new made up b.s. is that it's commercial and it's the new reason we're charging more than double. So I said I'm not paying it, then they said we're not giving you your keys. So I paid the p.o.s. And got a pic of him trying to cover his identity. Same time I'm googling car sizes, another customer comes in with an online confirmation to rent a car, CONFIRMED! and they shue him away because they don't rent to people that live in Illinois, yet his confirmation had his address on it too. This place is terrible, deceptive, cons. STAY AWAY!!! read more

Do not rent from this car rental company; it is fraudulent. Booking through Expedia will likely result in being overcharged. While they advertise one price, you may be charged a different, higher rate upon arrival. Their policies and restrictions are buried in the fine print. For example, the advertised unlimited mileage only applies to drivers from the United States. Additionally, they require a $1500 deposit plus tax. Canceling a reservation is problematic as it must be done through Expedia, which involves long wait times. If you miss the six-hour cancellation window from the time of booking, you will lose your money. For instance, my Expedia car rental confirmation from Monday, May 20 (Itinerary no. 72834291037264) was a terrible experience. In the future, choose reputable major rental companies to avoid these deceptive practices. read more

Exceptional Service from Jas I recently had the pleasure of renting a car and I can't say enough good things about my experience, thanks largely to Jas! From the moment I arrived, she greeted me with a warm smile and made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. Jas was incredibly knowledgeable about the different vehicles available and helped me choose the perfect one for my needs. She took the time to ensure I was comfortable with all the features and even shared some local tips for my trip. Her friendly demeanor and genuine enthusiasm made a potentially stressful process feel effortless. I highly recommend renting from this company and, if possible, ask for Jas! She truly goes above and beyond to provide an exceptional customer experience. Thank you, Jas, for making my experience so great! read more

Just had another amazing experience at routes. Pricing was very competitive. Location easy to find. Best thing is they stay open late and are always willing to pick you up from the airport at a very short notice. Most of all the people working their are just superb. Always smiling and running around to get you on the road as quick as possible. I rented for a week, and Ankit, helped me out, he was so polite and helpful, and gave me what I wanted. I just called to get my rental extended for a few more days and spoke to Saif, he took no time to help me and extended my rental for 3 more days for a very good rate. He was very polite and efficient, and had me off the phone within 5 minutes with everything I needed. Best experience I've had with all my rentals 5star service read more

Be careful and take your time to read the rental agreement before you drive off your car. When I book the rental car online at kayak , it show that it is a unlimited mileage, but it only give me 200 Km per day in the rental agreement @ .20 for over the limit, and the counter person never mention it to me. Also make sure to check the mileage at the car's dashboard that is match with the rental agreement. I did not check it, because I think I have unlimited mileage option. I was in shock when I found out that the car actual mileage has 400 Km more than in the rental agreement. They also forced you buy their liability insurance even though your north America's credit card has the rental car insurance covered for you. Don't use this company!! read more

This is my favorite place to rent ! I came here 18 times and they NEVER fail to satisfy. I was confused seeing the bad reviews. So I read them. I was so confused as to what they're pissed off at. It turns out they don't under stand the rules of Canada rentals. Or they have their own requirements. That those customers choose not to comply with. I worked with Saif and like ALMSOT every person there, they are nothing but friendly and they comply with their rules and regulations. You can't blame them for doing their jobs. The cars are GREAT year of quality. I keep renting wranglers mostly. I cannot complain. If I wanted to. Their prices never fail me. Thank you routs for all the trips u made fun! read more

I came to Toronto for the first time with my family and booked my car rental online, when we got to the airport and called them from the shuttle location they picked my family up within about 10 minutes, the staff front desk staff was very nice and the manager came up and told us that the Kia Sportage we had booked wasn't available but they gave me a free upgrade to a Kia Sorento. The SUV they gave us was brand new, it still had the factory plastic when they did the inspection of the car. Ive never driven a vehicle with almost no Km on it. I was very pleased with the service I received and would defiantly rent again from this company. read more

I did my reservation before I read the reviews about this car rental company. I was worried because what people are writing. I called them twice with different questions, and got the answers on them very professional way by the rep. I said gonna give shot. When I got in to the office the gentleman whom I meet first was Mr. Saif . The service that offered was very professional , he was polite and willing to help with all my questions. Additionally to that he gave me free upgrade from economical to full size and from basic to fully loaded car. I definitely will recommend use they service.
