It is great for exploring the forest. The campsite is really big, we came in the weekday and it was fairly quiet but as soon as the weekend came the place became very very busy with campers - iot looked like a festival! its obviously extremely popular so I would defo recommend booking if you are going for a weekend. If you like something on your campsite to keep you occupied then don't come here, it is not the sort to have entertainment etc, in fact there is only the reception which is open in daylight hours where you can buy milk, torch batteries etc, there are toilets and showers, and that is pretty much it. It is a couple of miles out of Brockenhurst so you need a car - we came on foot and soon became good friends with the local taxi driver! Fabulous walks, and believe me being a city girl it isn't really my thing, but I loved it here. I imagine this would be even more fun if you got a big group of friends / families together to come here as you can make your own fun and get to spend some proper quality time. Brilliant.

It has fantastic views over West Cowes and the Solent which can be enjoyed from the bar or even the swimming pool! Me and my family had a lovely holiday staying at Sandy Balls…read more Recommended by a friend of my Mum's my parents really wanted to return to this area after having a great long weekend staying just outside Fordingbridge. Sandy Balls is easy to find and the welcome centre is very friendly and come out from the building to great you whilst your still in the car. All the cabins are easy to locate as the site is well signposted. The cabins are brilliant! They all come with an outside picnic bench and barbeque, with barbeque equipment stored in each of the cabins. Are cabin had three bedrooms, a double ensuite and two twin rooms. Probably only one of the places I've stayed at where the twin rooms were a decent size. I really liked that they both included small dressing tables with a draw and stool underneath. The wardrobe space was large but the standard few coathanger provided. The bedding was great but my only complaint was I got very hot and would have liked a thinner duvet. The cabins were very good a keeping heat in and were always opening windows to cool down a little. The ensuite and bathroom were lovely, the best feature being the led lights intergrated into the mirror. The living room/ dining room was well balanced, plenty of room for 4 people to set on the sofas but I think a 6th guest would have found it a squeeze. The kitchen was great, all the appliances looked new, we found the fridge a little small but we did have a lot in there. Would have much preffered a chopping board that wasn't glasss but appart from that the kitchen was really easy to use. I big plus point for me was the arcade games! I really enjoyed having them there and had a lot of fun playing on the 2p machines and table hockey. The cafe/restaurant and pub were very good in their own right and didn't feel like they were there just for people coming to Sandy Balls for holiday. We won the weekly quiz and had a great evening not living the holiday park.

We planned our trip months in advance, so it didn't quite go to plan weather-wise (despite it being the beginning of August... welcome to England), but pack a mac and a hoody with your T shirts and you're prepared for all conditions. The site itself was very clean and close enough to the A31 to escape to civilisation, if needs be. No showers or electricity on site though, so be prepared to slum it a little. Horses also roam freely round this part of the country, which is quite nice and makes things interesting- they're quite harmless, but leave any food out or attempt any ad-lib bare-back riding, and your tent might not last the night.

There are a handful of static caravans on the lower part of the cliff and the main campsite area, shop and cottages are a short walk up to the top of the cliff. There is a play area for children along with various petting animals (*kids wash your hands after petting the animals!!*) and some more exotic breeds such as water buffalo and llamas. We stayed in one of the static caravans and it was one of the most relaxing holidays I have ever had. The caravans look out onto the sea and there is a safe fenced garden area with picnic benches where you can BBQ and watch the spectacular sunsets with a glass or two of the local wines (yes - there are a couple of vineyards on the IOW). The caravans are large and well maintained. The camping area is extensive and the facilities are good. The site shop has everything you would need but is pricey. The village of Brighstone is 10 minutes walk away and there are bigger shops and a couple of nice pubs that serve food. The charming coastal town of Ventnor is approx 15 mins drive away and Shanklin another 10 mins from Ventnor. Grange Farm will be a regular holiday destination for us - it really is a great family spot.

The location is perfect for exploring the Jurassic coast - it's a reasonable short drive to many places. Definitely would stay there again.

Sadly this well provisioned campsite appears to have a poor policy on noisy neighbours. It's…read morecurrently 03:20 and a family group who have been complained about since before midnight are still being antisocial. Thankfully we are leaving later this morning- I pity any of the families here for the weekend. There's lots of positives to add about this campsite but if it is not possible to police antisocial neighbours then this removes much of the value.
