It is great for exploring the forest. The campsite is really big, we came in the weekday and it was fairly quiet but as soon as the weekend came the place became very very busy with campers - iot looked like a festival! its obviously extremely popular so I would defo recommend booking if you are going for a weekend. If you like something on your campsite to keep you occupied then don't come here, it is not the sort to have entertainment etc, in fact there is only the reception which is open in daylight hours where you can buy milk, torch batteries etc, there are toilets and showers, and that is pretty much it. It is a couple of miles out of Brockenhurst so you need a car - we came on foot and soon became good friends with the local taxi driver! Fabulous walks, and believe me being a city girl it isn't really my thing, but I loved it here. I imagine this would be even more fun if you got a big group of friends / families together to come here as you can make your own fun and get to spend some proper quality time. Brilliant.

Me and my family had a lovely holiday staying at Sandy Balls…read more Recommended by a friend of my Mum's my parents really wanted to return to this area after having a great long weekend staying just outside Fordingbridge. Sandy Balls is easy to find and the welcome centre is very friendly and come out from the building to great you whilst your still in the car. All the cabins are easy to locate as the site is well signposted. The cabins are brilliant! They all come with an outside picnic bench and barbeque, with barbeque equipment stored in each of the cabins. Are cabin had three bedrooms, a double ensuite and two twin rooms. Probably only one of the places I've stayed at where the twin rooms were a decent size. I really liked that they both included small dressing tables with a draw and stool underneath. The wardrobe space was large but the standard few coathanger provided. The bedding was great but my only complaint was I got very hot and would have liked a thinner duvet. The cabins were very good a keeping heat in and were always opening windows to cool down a little. The ensuite and bathroom were lovely, the best feature being the led lights intergrated into the mirror. The living room/ dining room was well balanced, plenty of room for 4 people to set on the sofas but I think a 6th guest would have found it a squeeze. The kitchen was great, all the appliances looked new, we found the fridge a little small but we did have a lot in there. Would have much preffered a chopping board that wasn't glasss but appart from that the kitchen was really easy to use. I big plus point for me was the arcade games! I really enjoyed having them there and had a lot of fun playing on the 2p machines and table hockey. The cafe/restaurant and pub were very good in their own right and didn't feel like they were there just for people coming to Sandy Balls for holiday. We won the weekly quiz and had a great evening not living the holiday park.

This is one of the best sites I've been to in a long while. I stayed for three weeks in March 2011…read morein my motorhome and had a really relaxing time. It's a franchise site, owned by Mark and Lisa Dando. They are helpful, friendly people who are working hard to make their site even better. The site sits on a hillside just outside the village of Corfe Castle and is multi-level and well landscaped. Unlike many C&CC sites, the hardstandings are genuinely that, not just reinforced grass plots. As a result there's little mud, which is usually the bane of this club's sites in wet weather. Facilities are good, as are cellphone and Internet reception. There's no wifi. I don't have a TV, so can't comment on that. The shop has essentials and you can have newspapers and bread delivered to order. There's wildlife everywhere on the site, including a nesting pair of sparrowhawks and badgers that visit at night from a nearby sett. (Don't leave out any food you'll want in the morning!) Sika deer call in on occasion. The setting is lovely and the local walking superb. It's ideal for dog owners. Corfe Castle village is a short walk away, either by road or, more picturesquely, by the footpath just above the site. There's a steam train from Corfe Castle to Swanage at weekends this time of year, more often in season. A return ticket is £9. The only drawback, and it's minor, is that the internal roads are surfaced with loose limestone, so you need to wear decent shoes to walk to the showers. Upper Chine Holiday cottages are situated in Shanklin, one of the most popular holiday destinations…read moreon the Isle of Wight. Situated on the main road about 2 minutes walk from the edge of the old town going away from Shanklin the cottages are ideally located for holiday makers of all ages. The complex (converted in part from a private girls school) comprises a number of cottages (mostly terraced although we didn't notice any noise from adjoining properties) of varying sizes and then a number of apartments. All properties have their own balconies and/or patios. We stayed in a 2 bed cottage and I was very pleased with the space and the fitting out of the cottage. Everything we could have wanted for (and more) was provided and the whole was spotlessly clean. There were a few areas that would have benefited from a little bit of re-decoration but nothing that was really wanting. The properties were double glazed and appeared fairly secure. The pool, although small, was clean and well maintained. There was a small Jacuzzi. The pool lacked any changing facilities but its situation meant that this wasn't really an issue. There is also a sauna and beauty treatments were available on request. The gym comprised a running machine, a couple of bikes and a multi-gym. A £5 deposit was payable for a key for the multi-gym (the peg that separates the weights). The children's play area was well equipped with Little Tykes climbing toys (and slides), a play house and a lego table. A pool table, air hockey and table football (the latter free of charge) were available for older children and adults. Outside, there was a splash pool, ideal for children, and a tropical garden with loungers and shades. The outdoor play park was rather overgrown and the only part of the facilities that was poor with much maintenance being required. The tennis court was adequate and reasonably maintained and balls/rackets were available from reception. If you'd forgotten your bucket and spade these could be borrowed free of charge from reception also!

Not cheap, but then what is? Fantastic views of Lymington and Yarmouth from the decks. The lounges are comfy with big picture windows. Excellent trip and well worth it for an easy way to have a scout round the Isle of Wight. Recommended.

One of the worst ferry terminals I've had the pleasure to spend time at. The building has no cash…read morepoint and the coffeeshop has no working card machine! (12th November 2013). The saving grace is that the building has a toilet! My tip bring hard cash if you find yourself stuck here for an hour or so.

We planned our trip months in advance, so it didn't quite go to plan weather-wise (despite it being the beginning of August... welcome to England), but pack a mac and a hoody with your T shirts and you're prepared for all conditions. The site itself was very clean and close enough to the A31 to escape to civilisation, if needs be. No showers or electricity on site though, so be prepared to slum it a little. Horses also roam freely round this part of the country, which is quite nice and makes things interesting- they're quite harmless, but leave any food out or attempt any ad-lib bare-back riding, and your tent might not last the night.
