With the direction our economy is headed I figured I would review somewhere I am familiar with but,…read moreprobably most people aren't, yet. I see alot more people lining up at these places in the near future. Before you say, "this guy must be some kind of lazy fvcker, reviewing the unemployment office". Hear me out. Being employed in the heavy trade industry, we don't work 9-5, five days a week. Rather we work a shit load of hours in month long or so spurts. We have slow seasons and this when I usually take my unemployment benefits. Remember, you paid into this system, so it's not a handout. It is in fact, income you've earned. Now that you know a little background let me tell you my latest experience. I went in there the other day. (If you do go, bring all your pay stubs, and pertinent employer information). I was prepared to go in early in the morning but, the again I am unemployed, I got nowhere important to be. So I went at 11:30. I stood in the ubiquitous government line for about a half hour before taking my turn. I was asked to show proof of identity( they don't accept spontaneous existence bring your social security card and driver's license). They looked me up in the system and gave me a corresponding packet to fill out. I figured it would be at least another hour or so before I saw a carbon based life form who would get things going as per my previous experiences. I was wrong. Within ten minutes of getting my packet my name was called along with ten other people. My guess is that they do this procedure en mass now as to speed things along. Anyways we were all given instructions pertaining to the packet and our "unemployment claim".(in Spanish much to the chagrin of many in attendance of our group, but they were helped out later on) After the instructions we were given time to finish filling out the information requested while they called us up one by one to go over our claim. It was within fifteen minutes, after entering the room with the group I was called(about five to ten minutes per person). After talking to the Representative we finished the claim and he gave me all the instructions I needed, I was finished. About an hour total in the middle of the day, all with no attitude. Here is the reason they get three stars though. Number one is there was a reception desk, but no receptionist. Then when it came my time in the line I was told I needed to fill out a form by the woman at the desk. I asked her where I could get the certain necessary paper. She told me the receptionist is supposed to give it to me. I told her there was adesk for said receptionist but alas no receptionist. She apologized though, which was unexpected. Also they only offer pencils to fill out the necessary papers. This is not cool you only fill out pertinent papers with pen this was something I learned early in my life. Finally the whole instruction process was done in Spanish. This was a problem because clearly there was people present whom didn't speak Spanish. The instructor told us he would do the group in Spanish and if you didn't speak Spanish they would take car of them one on one when they're name was called. I suspect it may have been quicker if the instruction was done in both English and Spanish. Over all I would rate this as the better experience I have had in any government office.

I really appreciate the availability of IDES when I needed it. I appreciated the care of their…read morerepresentatives when I needed their help to access the employment insurance I paid for as I worked, over the prior 7 years. When I fell on hard times they were not super receptive but did their job and didn't make me feel like a lost cause as I looked to find the next phase of my career that I'm enjoying now. Thank You.
