I've been coming to the MAC regularly for a few months now. I haven't experienced all the MAC has to offer, only because there is always something new going on. They offer various events throughout the year like art exhibits, films, comedians, and classes. It claims to be kid friendly but I do not really see how. I didn't see anything for children. Even the outdoor area is lacking in fun. Luckily cannon park is right next door. The MAC has a nice little gift shop with creative greeting cards and artsy gifts. There is a large cafe that has OK food. Some things are definitely not worth the price. And service is always slow. The other Side of the MAC has a bar with other food and a small selection of beer and alcohol. The reason I've given such a low rating is due to a few things. One, the cafe is utterly slow. I could drive to Sainsbury, buy food and cook it myself before the MAC can deliver my meal. It doesn't matter if it's empty or completely heaving. Always reliably slow. Today for a 2 toasties we waited 30 minutes. On top of that, empty tables seem to be filthy and full of collections of dirty dishes. Yet there sure were a lot of staff doing nothing behind the counter... Lastly, I haven't found it to be very organised. I tried registering for a zumba class to find out it had been cancelled. Not one class, the entire session. Nothing was published online. A bit of a let down. I still think the MAC is a unique venue for trying new things. After all it is free! Free parking and free entry. I'm still going to return for an event for sure. But overall the venue just doesn't live up to the hype.

Whether it's a hot sunny day or cold outside because of mac's position in Cannon Hill Park you can pop in for a cold beer out of the sunshine or grab a hot Latte and keep out the rain. I like to grab a drink in the cafe however it can get over run with mom & dads with toddlers so i've reconsidered it as a meeting point of late. However if you do have kids it seems a nice place to meet with other parents as there are plenty of places for kids and lots of space for them to play and run around. There is a bar tucked around the side which is probably more suitable for the adults. Mac is a great resource for the city. I come here mainly for exhibitions of which there have been some great ones and (as far as I am aware) the art exhibitions are free. The cinema is really nice here. Really comfy and spacious. I've only seen one film but enjoyed the experience rather than that of a multiplex. However you are offered a different choice of film here from the Hollywood Blockbusters. There are regular music and theatre events and lots of adaptable spaces too making it great to watch performances.

The Midlands Art Centre re-opened not so long ago with a multi million pound re-launch and built upon the foundations of the old mac which had always been a popular Birmingham attraction. Complementing the scenic surroundings of Cannon Hill Park, the mac offers good quality food and drinks, a full bar and evening entertainment, as well as the opportunity partake in classes ranging in everything from dance to ceramics. The mac holds regular exhibitions and live performances and maintains the high standards of cultural material it is famed for.

The last time I went ot the Mac it was actually flooded, but I wasn't going to let that put me off. There is free parking here, and the carpark leads to a lush park, covered in grass with a small lake and play park for children. Arriving at the Mac there seemed to be lots of children running about, but this just goes to show that the place is actually used by the community, that it's not just an artsy fartsy affair. There are however lots of events held for the adults without children. Lots of cinema screenings that odeon wouldn't even contemplate showing, comedy and music performances and lots of other cutting edge stuff can be found here. Check out the website if you're looking for something new to try for the new year with lots of creative course starting all year round.

The Mac itself is lovely. Situated in Cannon Hill Park with free (yay)parking. A cute gift shop is on the left as you enter which also doubles as the ticket office. It has lots of unique items to pick up and buy too. There is also a cute bar (with lovely tea & coffee options) and it even has some vegan options! There are a few theatre spaces and I was in the hexagon theatre which was a small space of around 40 people but it was nice & cosy for the performance and it felt very intimate.

MAC Birmingham is an arts centre located in one of Birmingham's green oases, and it is becoming one of my favourite arts venues in the city. MAC is an arts centre that really cares about audience experience, and this is clear in the dizzying programme of events, exhibitions, theatre, dance, independent cinema, festivals, food markets and special events. Growing up in Birmingham, a trip to the MAC was always a special occasion - at Christmas my parents used to bring me to the theatre. Recently, MAC has undergone a multimillion pound rebirth. The building has been transformed into a real local landmark, unmissable in the park. It has also become even more visitor friendly, with a large, bright atrium that's perfect for meeting in, and a nice cafe that serves up a range of hot and cold food, as well as cakes and drinks. Recently I've been to a range of different events at MAC, including a wonderfully fun screening of 'I Am Divine' as part of SHOUT Festival. However, it is their programme of contemporary art exhibitions and events that have wowed me over and over. First there was 'Sounding The River' a fantastic, multisensory event that drew on MAC's unique position beside the River Rea. Myself and Adam S. followed a path, under the cover of darkness, along the river and through the woods of the park. We encountered amazing whirring, wizzing, flashing and glowing light installations interspersed with beautiful music and theatre, bringing the river to life. Then there was the amazingly powerful 'Black Smoke Rising', an installation by artist Tim Shaw that saw MAC's large exhibition space transformed into a dark, smokey, oily chamber, presided over by a huge black-hooded god. Both of the above rank among the very best arts happenings that I've ever experienced. Right now you can catch 'The Last Known Pose', an exhibition of work by artist Qasim Riza Shaheen that brings together beautifully crafted garments, video installations and glossy portraits. MAC is a great arts venue that works closely with the community groups that make up Birmingham and brings innovative contemporary arts to the city, and is well worth a visit.

The ticket prices here are higher than other cinemas with the standard adult 2D ticket costing over £10 and IMAX costing a whopping £16.20. There is no box office at this cinema meaning that tickets have to be purchased from automated machines (card only) or the snack counter. Although the cinema was not busy by any stretch of the imagination, I did have to wait a substantial amount of time to be served as there were only one or two members of staff serving (both tickets and refreshments) at any one time. There was the usual selection of snacks available and we ordered a large popcorn to share. There was also a small Costa Coffee in the entrance area which served a great range of coffee and treats. The actual theatre was a nice size (if an unusual layout) and the seats were very comfortable. Everything at the cinema indicated newness which was a nice change from the other well used multiplex's in Birmingham. The screen was the perfect size and the volume level was set just right for a children's film. While we did enjoy the film, the cinematic experience was in no way outstanding. Taking into consideration the higher ticket price I am left only able to offer four stars.

In the cold weather, what I love about this branch is that you don't have to go outside. Parking is secure and underground, and there are plenty of food options surrounding the cinema. It's an open front, and quite small, but always seem to be very efficient and serve quickly. There's a small Starbucks franchise in there so you can pick up coffee and muffins, a nice change to popcorn and cola! It always seems very clean in there, looking like the carpets have just been hoovered...maybe that's just me, but that's how it appears. It's certainly one of the more expensive branches of Cineworld locally, and parking is chargeable (though of an evening I seem to recall its only about £1, so not too bad). Due to the open front, I suppose offering parking validation as they do in Birmingham would be a little difficult, but if you're going to Touchwood for other things too, it's well worth it.

As the cinema specialises in bringing food to your seat, I figured it would be worth heading down for a spot of dinner and a film on a Thursday evening to give this place a proper try. Firstly, I do love the layout and vibe. You're welcomed into a smart, stylised bar and eatery area and invited to take a seat before your film. You can order food before the showing if you would prefer or order for delivery during the film. On our first trip we flashed our tickets (on email, rather an a paper ticket system) and headed to the bar to order a couple of burgers and beer. I went for a veggie burger and Dan went for a smoked. This with a couple of beers came to around £30 (which was incorrect as per the website and seemed to be quite pricey - especially for drinks), still, we duly paid up and headed to the screen for a punchy extravaganza of superhero proportions. The food was bought out to us during the adverts and bought out to us on a tray (so you can pop it on your lap). The burger was really atrocious. I couldn't taste anything at all! Considering it was packed with all kinds of lovely veg - this was a total shame. The seats were comfy enough (every seat at the Everyman is a sofa seat), but as Dan has pointed out - the sound didn't seem to be great (which was another disappointment). Following this visit I got in touch with the Everyman to tell them about my experience (I would have spoken to the manager on the night, but the film didn't finish until nearly 12pm and I was shattered). Their customer service was top notch (that gets 5*) and I received an email reply stating that they would update their website and offered another two burgers on the house to make up for our sub-par food on our first visit. We decided to give them another go and visited a second time in May to see Mad Max. We popped in, flashed the email and were offered the free food without any issues. I went for a house burger this time and we just ordered a couple of glasses of water (as it was a roasting hot day and we were parched). The screen we were in a second time (downstairs) was a lot better. Even comfier, more leg room and better sound. This was a much more pleasant screening experience than we had, had previously. The food didn't come out until the film had started (which was a bit of a pain as we had to eat in the dark) and although my burger seemed to be a lot more flavoursome, it was a tad burned. All in all, I would give the venue 3.5 stars due to the great customer service, comfy seating and great screening area downstairs (which has it's own dedicated bar). I am not in a hurry to head back (it's quite expensive for films at around £12 - £13 a ticket) and the food hasn't wowed me yet. Don't let that put you off though! It's definitely worth a visit if you haven't yet been, just be sure to keep in mind that the drinks are quite pricey. I would recommend it for a date night or a treat, but for an everyday cinema experience I would probably head elsewhere.

What a stupid response!! Well let me inform you... I expect you to have a proper queuing system which is fair and tended to promptly and professionally, I expect a dedicated service by staff members serving me with a little sense of sympathy for all the ppl waiting and getting late for their movies through no fault of their own. Which other cinema do you have to turn up over 1 hour before the movie in order to wait in a long queue whilst watching others form their own ques, it defeats the purpose of paying in advance online?! I WILL NEVER ATTEND THIS CINEMA EVER AGAIN!! The manager (an older asian guy with whitening beard in a suit), didn't care for his name tbh, made a bad experience worse with such a stupid response, standing around like a lampost, atleast a lampost provides light, much more useful than you. This was after I had already called for him before the movie started and he walked off pretending to be busy. Poor management and sick of the service. Will be telling everyone to avoid. Don't waste 3 hours of your life like I had to. People work hard for their money and if we spend it we have a reasonable right to watch our movies with comfort and ease. There are much better cinemas local, will be sticking to those. I stormed out of the cinema after the silly basic response from the Manager, he needs retraining or moving to the toilets, maybe he can be of some use there, however i doubt it. An insult to the Vue name unless its how Vue is training their staff?? The people of Birmingham deserve better, its not good enough and needs to change immediately. Or close your doors. After I had missed Hot Tub Cinema in Digbeth, I just knew I had to go to this one. £25 buys you a seat in a hot tub, one drink token, top notch DJ's and a film. If you want a more personal experience with friends or a great date, you could book a private hot tub for 5 (for £125) or a deluxe hot tub for 2 with 4 drinks for £100. We arrived bang on doors opening at 6:30 (the film wasn't going to be screened until 8pm), so we could soak up the rooftop ambiance and enjoy a couple of drinks before the main event. One drinks token was £5, but we decided to cash in our 5 tokens as a group for a bottle of prosecco to get the night started. The rooftop was set up to give a proper Ibiza vibe. Comfy beanbags, the surf simulator, beach decorations, a bar (with themed cocktails) and DJ's playing from a hot tub with the sun setting over the Fort; this was a perfect way to start our evening. After Yelper Jack C. had broken the record on the surf simulator and we had bought more drinks tokens (all whilst having a groove), we were ushered to the hot tubs around 8:30pm. The film ended up being screened a little later (due to the sun setting later than advertised), but it was lovely getting into the warm water as the night got cooler. There were upstairs changing rooms, but these were a bit blustery and made it nearly impossible to get changed. The toilets inside the Fort were a much easier option for getting changed before getting in. The screening was fantastic. The sound was good, the picture was clear and the audience was calm and watched the film with only the lightest bit of chatter in the background. You could order drinks to the tub, so you didn't need to get out unless you needed to use the facilities (which was a cold run in the evening breeze). We left straight after the filming, but enjoyed a night of great company, themed fun and many drinks. The team at the Fort are hoping to host another round in August... I will be on it like a car bonnet and I recommend you get a ticket too for a night of hot tub fun!
