The restaurant is unique! T-Rex, movie posters, and even a signed autograph from Howdy Doody. The bar is quite loud and the noise bounces throughout the restaurant. When ordering-first find out what is in stock. They appear to run out of items. For example, even though mimosas are on happy hour, they were out of champagne and unwilling to substitute another wine drink. They were also out of house made chips that was integral to several appetizers. Also... menus are not updated. For example I ordered a drink in a complimentary hurricane glass which they no longer offer. I found that out after the drink arrived. They do offer complimentary pint glasses with beer and our young server was able to get me one of those. The wings, however, won the day. When dipped into a wonderful ranch dressing they were just plain good! And the slightly overcooked potato skins were very good as well with a healthy helping of cheese anbacon.

Great people at a great bar!

We stopped at this Macado's because we saw the sign advertisement on the side of I-81. It's a very small Macado's compared to others we've been to, but the food & drinks were great, as always. They have an extensive list of sandwiches but I went with the "create your own" option. My husband had the loaded hot dog and he said it was exceptional! The bartender was great and we met an awesome group in the bar area - we didn't want to leave but we had to continue on our trip. We travel this route often and we'll definitely remember this stop in Marion VA!

I'm impressed. Diamond Jim was really good. Thinly sliced rare roast beef, melted Swiss, tomatoes, lettuce, horseradish mayo on a soft French roll. Generous amount of beef on the sandwich too. Hot crispy tator tots on the side. Visiting from Idaho and I would totally eat here again before heading home. So many menu options!!

Just average food. Nothing great. It's REALLY LOUD in there. Several orders were wrong. Very nice building but not really worth the price.

The Cardinal - Cowboy Burger (6/10) and Sweet Potato Tots

But I wiggled my vehicle into a tight spot and went in for a burger and a beer. I believe there were about 10 to 12 options available on tap, and I went with what was listed as an Irish stout from somewhere in the Northeast. It wasn't bad, though it seemed more like an imperial stout. My sandwich choice was the Cowboy, with ground elk at its core. It was a good choice too, and the accompanying fried onions and melted cheese complemented the meat well. I ordered the burger medium, but I think I'd go for medium rare if I could go back in time. The medium option wasn't bad, but I think a little less heat and a little more moisture would only make things better. I kept things simple with the side item, going for the fries which were of the thinly sliced McDonald's variety, not bad but nothing remarkable. The server covering my table was pleasant and prompt, though soft spoken so I occasionally had to ask her to repeat herself amidst the music and noise. I wouldn't call any of these selections a bargain, but the prices didn't veer too far from what you'll find in many burger joints. All in all, not an earthshaking experience, but a place I'd be willing to go back to. 3.5 stars.

We started with the pickled board, and it was just fun. A little bit of everything: pickled veggies, cucumbers with those pretty curls of onion, pimento cheese, bread, pork rinds, a little tomato jam. It felt like a Southern snack platter put together by someone who actually cares about balance and flavor. I ordered the pickled salad with chicken, and it was right up my alley. Fresh greens, great textures, pops of color, and the chicken was nicely seasoned and grilled. The dressing had that bright, tart thing going on that makes you want more of it. I would absolutely get this again. My husband got the Cassie salad, and while he said it was "fine," even he admitted everything was fresh and well done. The vibe here is relaxed, cozy, a little rustic, the kind of place that feels local in the best way. For a casual lunch in Boone, it hits the spot. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Eight friends came from several miles away to meet for dinner. We were the only diners on a Thursday eve at 5PM and 3 barstool patrons. The only waitress was friendly enough but needs training. Ordering drinks I asked what kind of gin they had? Her response was, "I don't think we have that". What bar doesn't have gin? I could plainly see the unmistakeable Tanqueray and maybe Beefeater bottles on the shelf. I told her to ask the bartender for a TnT. It took 30 minutes to get everyone a water, beer or cocktail. We ordered food which took 1.5 hours to get to the table. We were wondering where our food was as we watched the ENTIRE staff go outside and start vaping. Even the bartender. No staff were inside anywhere we could see. Half of us were OK with the food quality. 2 ordered crab cakes which they had on previous visits and liked them. They were delivered to the table without the roumalade sauce descibed on the menu. When asked about it the waitress went to the kitchen and returned saying "we don't have any, we will have to make it". Seriously. She showed up with some about 15 minutes later. One diner complained her crab cakes were underdone and the other was way overdone. No consistency. When weasked for more rolls she said "we don't have anymore, it will take 20 minutes to bake them". After everyone was served, But Me, I asked where my food was. The waitress said it's coming. Yes, it came 15 minutes later so I presume I was forgotten. The bacon on my bleu burger was way underdone so I removed it. Obviously a rushed plate. I should have taken pics of the substandard food. Our group meets every 3rd Thursday and we had patronized this establishment several times in the past. It was unanimously agreed that we will not return.

I have no notes, this was a classic burger: I loved the hint of spice from pepperjack, the sweet contrast from the pineapple, and the patty was perfectly cooked. The pub chips were well-seasoned and crispy. The iced tea had just the right amount of sugar, and was very refreshing. The ambiance is fine: a bit dim inside, but there's also outside seating. Service was friendly & fast. Parking is free in downtown Jefferson. 10/10 would recommend!
