What a great place to spend a day! Plus it's free thanks to DCR! The facilities are clean - shower,…read morechanging rooms and bathrooms. The pool is huge. Lifeguards are present and they test the pool quality every hour or so. The kiddie area is blocked off so perfect for families who want to dunk their kids and not to be disturbed by other swimmers. Don't want to swim? There is a splash pad when you leave the pool area. There is also a playground with picnic tables within 2 min walk. I saw four swings for babies/toddlers and swings for older kids are behind the slides. Street parking.

The female lifeguards were rude in general to the public. They kept staring at us and pointing at us, which made us extremely uncomfortable. The pool checks were also poorly communicated, and nobody clearly explained what the actual purpose of them was. The head lifeguard was just as rude and unprofessional. What made the experience even worse was that after we left because we were uncomfortable, we were literally stopped and pulled aside by the staff and accused of lying about having a child with us just to get into the pool. We did NOT lie. We have been at the pool. We had our belongings inside and everything was already set up. Two of us left because a lifeguard told a mother in the water near us that she could not be in the pool with the floaties she had. Since it was extremely hot out and we wanted her child to actually be able to enjoy the pool, we went all the way back home to grab a life jacket we had so mind you the third person with us was still there at the pool with all our stuff waiting for us to return with said life jacket for the baby. We were rushing back specifically so she could get back in and enjoy the pool. So to then be stopped, accused of lying and treated like we were doing something wrong was completely ridiculous. We only needed about an hour at the pool, and somehow that short visit turned into an uncomfortable and frustrating experience. The staff's attitude, the staring, pointing, lack of communication and then accusing us of lying was enough to make it very clear that we will not be returning. It is honestly a shame because this place has so much potential and could be something really great for the community if it were run by people who actually knew how to treat families with basic respect and kindness. One visit was more than enough.

Went the other day at the advice of my mechanic (Richies - Hicks Ave), I was getting my car worked…read moreon & was going to be there for an extended amount of time & had my 2 YO with me, so I dropped off the car & Walked up... The park is HUGE, When you first walk in (I came in from the far end side behind the Baseball Diamonds - where you wouldnt even know it was a park if someone didnt tell you)... There are possibly 4 Baseball Diamonds... Huge Full length basket ball courts & then if you walk down behind the school there are 2 playgrounds... One playground is tiny & probably meant for littler children and it would have been great for my son except it was packed and there are no benches which is awkward... So I noticed another little playground up the ramp so I went up there & that one is bigger in size, but it wasnt really that advanced where I wouldnt let my 2 yo explore... and there were TONS of benches... So we are sitting & playing & when all of a sudden the School Doors open up & about 300 kids run out, It was pandemonium... The school houses Summer Camp & kids were everywhere, My son went nuts, he loves running crazy kids... As fast as they were all there they were gone, they went up to all the baseball/basketball fields.... So after a good hour of playing & running up & down slides, we went to watch all the kids play kickball (which made me realize camp counsellors are rude & have no patience with little kids - but thats a whole other story)... The park is HUGE & from what Im told they have all the city Little League games there... I would def recommend for a morning out! Just drive around and park on the street side, the way I entered was scary & there are LOTS or trucks delivering to the businesses there!

Barry Playground is easily reachable by 93 N but you're probably not going there unless you've stumbled around the streets medford after a trip to Dana's Apt (http://www.yelp.com/biz/b4QIYJpFTgMwuDlq_Sdatg) in the middle of the night. Swings, slides, a cool two-arm digging crane, a zip wire, general store window and of course, the obligatory tic tac toe board, Barry's playground will keep you entertained for hours. My only criticism is that the wood chip mulch is too hard and all of the hand holds and sliding poles and other things to cling to with your hands are made out of pure steal and on a hot summer day your child may receive some 2nd degree burning. for this reason i have limited myself to patronizing barry's playground to midnight and later.

The structure is definitely for more older kids but used by the little ones. I am often concerned about safety when the older kids run around and play Tag as they tend to be oblivious to the fact that there are some toddlers also on the structure. There are some basketball courts nearby so there are often guys playing a game. Of course, this means that girls are also nearby and their vulgar language can be heard at the playground; not the type of language I'd want my toddler overhearing! All in all, it's a nice clean playground.
