5 Stars for a photographer who makes you feel comfortable and can get even the most photo-awkward person (coughcough~me~cough) to love their new headshot! I saw the Macbeth Photography station at Florida Blog Con and since I'd heard great things about them and seen their headshots around town I decided to take a turn. Let's be honest- the fact that I had taken the time to doll myself up for the conference was also a deciding factor... It was a quick shoot but as soon as I sat down that familiar, awkward sensation filled my body. Oh boy- I was going to waste some money on these because I look like a mouse caught in headlights (a mouse seems more appropriate than a deer...). Luckily Jim started giving me some direction right away and before I knew it he had captured a great set of images. The image I chose looked effortless, but what you don't see in that picture is the lighting set-up as well as the hostage negotiation it took to get me to look relaxed and natural. A lot of work goes in to those great shots you see on everyone's websites and LinkedIn profiles around town and if you find yourself thinking "Dang, that's a great picture!" there's a great chance Macbeth Photography is behind it. I've had the chance to go and not only are the backdrops FABULOUS, but his team is also incredibly warm and immediately puts you at ease. He is an amazing photographer. Unassuming and fun, he's so easy to work with and always makes me laugh. Macbeth Photography is an amazingly diverse business, successfully doing professional / executive portraits, commercial / retail / construction / architectural and event photography, even aerial photos (the owner is also a pilot). For portraits, you can visit their studio or have them come out to your office to shoot your whole staff. I've used Macbeth to photograph commercial retail properties and Jim was amazing to work with and provided great results. He knew exactly the right questions to ask and listened to my needs. Jim has the advanced technical knowledge of all aspects of photography but also possesses a keen artistic eye for giving his work a special look. The turn-around time on getting the photos was amazing too - very important when you're working in real estate and have clients to please. I have also had portraits taken by Jim at Macbeth Photography and I couldn't have had a better experience. My husband is completely against "staged" photos, but Jim was able to get so many amazing shots of him smiling naturally and looking great. I loved using my photo as my Facebook profile photo, but almost a year later, I think I'm going to need to revisit Macbeth's studio for a newer shot that more accurately represents how I look today. We didn't know it at the time, but our photos were taken when I was 4 days pregnant. Now that we have a little girl, I'd love to come in for a family portrait.
