We were recommended to Macias Nursery and went to look for some trees/shrubs that we could plant for a privacy wall on one side of our backyard. The nursery is huge, with so many options. We were driven around in a cart by Dave who was very knowledgeable about all types of plants and trees. Dave showed us many options and we decided on 4 fan palm trees that he thought would work for us. I honestly could have spent hours looking around at all the plants, cactus, trees, and shrubs. Prices were very reasonable and they offered delivery for a small fee. We had such a great experience that we would definitely go back and would highly recommend Macias Nursery for any planting needs!! read more

The absolute worst Nursery, even my garden agrees. Cheaper prices for dead plants. I feel they take advantage of women who don't know better. They wouldn't give me a refund for several dead plants they sold me and I have been using this nursery for years. Very sad business. You know how sometimes you hesitate to write a rave review of a new source, only because you want to keep it a secret? Well I would have done that, except this nursery is just too great a find to keep secret! And besides I think they have SO much great stock that you will always find amazing plants, and awesome deals! David Macias was incredibly kind and helpful. And even allowed me to return some plants, and swap them out for bigger ones, when we decided we needed BIG. He was also really knowledgeable and helped us with all manner of tips. I am a really good shopper, so I called around to get prices, all over the Coachella Valley, and he was the best by far! They have a huge selection of plants . Hard to find someone to help but once you find a person, they are super knowledgeable and willing to help, even assisting patiently with someone like me who is not fluent in plant language. We went back 3 times and each encounter was exactly the same : pleasant and helpful people. Their delivery was also on time. Eddie, the driver, was the first person who spoke with me at the nursery . He was went above and beyond to answer my questions. The individual who helped us pick our plants was Lalo. He patiently helped us choose the appropriate plants for our patio. Which ones need full sun verses which ones for our north facing wall . Very satisfied with this nursery. Will definitely be back ! read more

I bought about four different types of desert plants from this nursery. Prices were great and selection was abundant! Had contact with two different employees and they were both very polite and informative. Also, you don't have to be a landscaper to buy from them. Prices were a quarter of what Home Depot would charge you and from what I understand the plants grown at Macias are made for the desert. Not imported from some other county like Home Depot. I would have bought more if my SUV could hold them! Have fun! read more

It's Huge! What it doesn't have, God didn't make it. Very accommodating Molars is more charming, but Macias is more reasonable.

As a landscaper I have been to MANY nurseries and I can honestly say that Macias is the BEST if you're in the Palm Desert area, or surrounding areas. They seem to always have the nicest plants & trees for the best prices. Also David & Jose are so nice & helpful. They really seem to care and take pride in what they do. This is not a retail shop to buy a few plants for your own yard - it's an actual grower for landscapers or for when you need a lot of trees, cactus or plants to re-landscape a home. I have been shopping at this nursery for many years. That are a little off the beaten path but their prices are great. They are a family run business and everyone is so helpful and friendly. My truck would not start last time I was there and one of the owners spent an hour under my truck helping me to fix it. It's hard to find people like this in the world anymore. Just terrific service, exactly the right tree was recommended for my space and already established landscape. Delivered to my remote location, hand dug the necessary hole (the rocks, the roots!) We are vacationing from Northern California. We stopped here on a whim. This is the largest nursery I have ever seen, with the most beautiful variety of cactus, plants and trees. There were many employees working, and admittedly they did not acknowledge us. They were very busy working. At first we thought that they did not sell to the public. We did finally ask someone if we could buy things, but he did not speak English and had to get someone else. We were told they sell to the public, and so we could not resist. I do wish they offered a wheel barrels or something with wheels to load up the plants. We bought, we bought, and bought beautiful and amazing things that we could never find in our area. We practically live in the desert ourselves with the long, dry and hot summers. We won't live there forever, and we will be sure to have all our treasures we found here in pots to take with us to our final destination...retirement home!!! Wherever that may be. Did I mention the prices are unheard of fantastic? It puts the big box home stores to shame. The selection just simply can't be beat with all the butterflies, and hummingbirds flying around as you shop. It was almost like we were somewhere other than where we were. read more

This place is huge and has lots to choose from so get there early. I was there just after 6am and realized that the cactus I wanted was at their "other location" down the street about 5 miles. Friendly worker gave me address and I found the stuff I wanted (opuntia santarita// purple prickly pear). This place is highly recommended. read more

This place is huge with a huge field full of plants and one side and on the other side of the road were greenhouses. Many workers with limited English skills. Had to ask 4 different workers where the cacti were located, only got a point in the general direction. Only saw plants in 5-10 gallon buckets, nothing smaller. No pricing listed, no one around to help us with purchases. The worst experience that I have ever had while trying to purchase plants at a nursery. Would NOT recommend, there are many other nurseries in the area that have a much better system of making sales and actually getting the customers and assisting them. read more

The only minor obstacle i had going here was the short drive and Google sent me a very strange way that included dirt and gravel roads. Thankfully i had a truck that could handle the terrain. Have been doing business with them for four years. Today I went in to grab something my neighbor has been looking for that could not find at the Big Box stores. Not only did Macias have them but at such a good price I bought myself one and then ended up buying 5 other plants. All their plants are healthy and a great selection to pick from. Huge site off the beaten path. You nearly feel alone on many acreage of nursery land. Have a look. You may see an occasional nursery provider sprinkled and working throughout the facility, feel free and approach with your order of plants and or questions and they will load and see you on your way, at a wholesale or near wholesale price, unmatched by any nursery I have visited here in the desert. It's worth the travel especially if purchasing in bulk and like the previous comment states. This is a nursery supplier, a big box supplier, a place for contractors. If you have many needed answered questions or not sure what you are looking for, start with a phone call. This is where plants begin their life and grow with the help of many tenders and while this is a nursery, it's still a farm. The Macias Nursery's are a great family run business and the pricing is more than fair. Basically their locations are wholesale so if you need to be pampered you need to call ahead and make arrangements and they will accommodate your needs. Additionally please note, these locations are working growing grounds and a majority of the (very cordial & knowledgeable) help is there fulfilling these objectives not to sell you plants. If you are high maintenance and need hand holding go elsewhere and pay 2 or 3 times as much for you landscape materials. Believe me if you have a lot of plants to buy be patient, it is worth a little extra effort, you will be rewarded. read more

I can't recommend this place enough! It is out of the way, but so worth the trip. I was concerned as a residential customer that I would feel out of place.
