Strongly not recommended - serious concerns about licensing, safety and workmanship…read more Our builder engaged Asbestos Watch to remove friable asbestos, which under Queensland law requires a Class A licence. They provided a quotation for this work but, upon later verification, did not appear to hold an active Class A licence at the time. Documentation lodged with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (QWHS)--specifically Form 65--identified only non-friable asbestos and listed a Class B licence, despite the work involving friable material. The removal work was subsequently found to be inadequate, leading to further contamination of the property. This finding has been confirmed by an independent asbestos assessor's report. Following these issues, Asbestos Watch provided a clearance certificate that contained no verifiable licence details or assessor qualifications. The entity named on the certificate could not be confirmed, raising doubts about the document's validity. As a result, builders, subcontractors and our own team attended a site that had not been adequately cleared of asbestos, creating a potential risk of exposure to friable asbestos fibres. This situation raised serious health and safety concerns and, in our view, reflected a failure to exercise proper care and compliance. We understand that QWHS has issued an enforcement notice to address these issues, which, at the time of writing, has not been actioned. The cost to undertake proper remediation is now estimated to be more than double the original quote. Based on our experience, we have serious concerns about the company's competence, transparency and compliance. I would strongly advise others to reconsider engaging this business.

Abbott Builders - display home lounge room

I recently received the keys to my beautiful first new home. It was an incredibly exciting…read moreexperience for me and a life-long dream realised after many years. Wow, I could not believe how amazing it is seeing it finished. It is even more special than I had ever imagined, after witnessing it all come to life a little while ago in the office of Abbott Builders with their amazingly professional and experienced team. I had initially been getting the run around and hard sell from some of the other larger mainstream high-volume home builders within the display home circuit. Promising everything and delivering very little when it came to be talking seriously. That's when you realise it is just about the volume and money with them and their misleading display houses being riddled with 'additional costs' and add-ons became evident. I personally found that whole process quite cold and ultimately frustrating. What a breath of fresh air it was and a totally different satisfying experience when I met with Abbott's after they were highly recommended to me. Wayne and his very friendly and genuine team made the whole, honestly for me, daunting process, such a pleasure and stress-free experience. I had a picture in my head of how I wanted my home to look and what I'd like it to include and meeting with them and talking about things and witnessing them bring my thoughts to life on the plans was awesome. With their expert knowledge and friendly guidance on things you don't really think about, it all came together brilliantly. When it came time to making all the decisions on colours, materials and internal finishing's, which for me was an area I really had no knowledge of apart from some ideas. Luckily, they have an extraordinary interior designer in-house to guide you through and she suggested ideas and styles I honestly hadn't considered. Raquel is amazing and so very friendly and approachable and her knowledge and genuine love for design and style is quite evident. Thank you so very much Raquel. The whole exciting journey from plans through to watching it all grow on my land was made all the more rewarding and hassle-free thanks to the wonderful staff there, always prompt with their answers to my many questions and honest and genuine with their time and expert advice. Thank you so very much to you all - Wayne, Evyette, Raquel, Dane, Ron and Ruby and the rest of the team. I am so truly happy knowing that my home has been built with such amazing craftsmanship by tradesmen with old-school pride in their work. The quality of my finished home is extraordinary and second to none. I couldn't recommend Abbott Builders enough. Thank you
