We went to the store looking for shoes and found a pair we really liked. Unfortunately, they didn't have my size in stock, so the staff offered to order "the same pair" from a supplier on the North Island. (the employee said they ordered the "same pair of shoes.") After about a week, when we hadn't heard anything, we decided to call and check if the shoes had arrived, which was unusual since they usually call us.
When we went to pick them up, we decided to compare them with a clearance pair of shoes that were half a size smaller. Surprisingly, the shoes looked exactly the same, down to the writing on them. But the clearance shoes were $50 cheaper, even though they seemed identical.
So, when we went to buy the ones from the North Island, we asked how much they were, and they were $50 more expensive. The cashier told us that the more expensive pair was a "newer version," which kind of made sense, but when we pressed her for what exactly was different about them, she couldn't really explain.
After some googling, we couldn't find any real difference between the two pairs, other than the price gap. read more
