This Macy's location I'd say is one of the biggest I've seen, including 3 floors. Each of the departments was pretty easy to locate for the most part, with signs indicating that. I found some areas of the areas to be a good shape, with some areas being messy as well. I was happy to see quite a variety in each department, carrying a lot of different styles. Most of them had quite a cool design to add the spice. There were quite a number of employees working on the floor which was impressive. Busy store, but under one roof, it has it. read more

I recently reached out to the CEO of Macys regarding (what I thought) was poor customer service regarding charging a fee for a paper bag. Being a "platinum" card holder, I spend a significant amount of money in the store yearly. On a visit last week,,,,after purchasing numerous items/spending hundreds of dollars....Macys wanted to charge me for ONE paper bag (I had three reusable bags of my own). I found this poor customer care and contacted Tony Spring - CEO of Macys. He insisted this is the law when I suggested they offer those bags as so many other stores readily do (especially when you are spending a significant amount of money). After researching that law in NJ....I found it is NOT the case. Stores are required to provide free carry bags and it is "considered unfair trade practice if they charge you." I felt his response to me was indicative that he did not care about customer service/ I was not worthy of his appeasing me in any fashion (even if it was bs). I mentioned that Bloomingdales, Saks, Kohls, TJMax, HomeGoods, Sephora, etc etc provide paper bags even regardless of the dollar amount of your purchase. He did not care, reiterated that it is the law (which it is not). he could have said I'll speak to staff about accommodating customers or I'll look further into this. He doesn't care....and i dont now care to spend my money there. If he even bothered to look into my account he would see that "I pay all my bills on time, possess a platinum cards and in just the past two weeks bought over a dozen items. Not happy read more

This review is for the Macy's department store, Willowbrook Shopping Center, Wayne, NJ. Although I made my purchase without any coaxing, there were certain elements of this experience that I needed to mention in this review. First, I had selected a gold bracelet for my wife for Valentine's Day. This piece, along with several others on display, were all marked $1,000. I thought this to be quite unusual. Several marketing signs were also on display adjacent to these bracelets which broadcast that a Sale was being offered for these pieces with an additional percentage taken off the final price should one open a Macy's Account. I elected to open an account, providing me with a Macy's credit card as well. Given all of the mark-downs, the final bracelet price came out to $300. Now one may conclude that it may appear unusual for Macy's to take such a price reduction. My initial thoughts were that the piece was simply gold filled or plated. I was advised by the sales person that the bracelet was 10K gold. I did see that the clasp was stamped "10K" yet there was no indication of the country of origin nor did the sales person indicate as much. Once I got home and examined all of my Macy's paperwork, the only identification of my purchase were the words "bracelet" and the amount I paid. There was no indication of the piece being 10K gold nor the country of origin. BTW, the gift box given to me to house the bracelet bore a very small sticker on the bottom which read "Made in China". I decided to pay this Macy's bill right away. Going on-line, I was instructed that I had to pay using my checking account and could not use my VISA card to pay for the purchase. At that point, I had to open another account in order to proceed. This process was painfully long and annoying. The next morning, I cancelled my (new) Mayc's credit card and closed my account. In summary, I have no patience in dealing with Macy's payment procedures nor do I need another credit card. read more

They also have their own credit card which encourages return shopping. I have been a customer for years. They also have an excellent on line shopping experience. Great return policy. It's neat and the staff are pretty helpful. They took the time to direct me and were nice about it. The online ordering for store pick up is a bonus and very convenient. Whenever I can't find something at the one in Paramus it's most likely in stock here which is good. My only question/issue is why are there no garment bags for the pricey mens' suits? They just covered the suit I bought with a small plastic Macy's bag. Bought a men's suit at the one in Paramus recently and left with it in a nice garment bag. Four stars for Macy's. The Macy's location in Willowbrook seems to be going in a better direction than several other retailers I've visited recently. I encountered upbeat and positive staff members. Many of the departments have been renovated or refreshed. The clothing inventory was modern and well presented. And it's still one of the best places to purchase gifts in a wide price range. I've been coming to this Macy's since high school over 20 years ago, and I've always thought that it was a bit of a maze. The Last Act (aka clearance and final sale) section was understandably in a separate corner, but I don't remember it ever looking this run down and messy. The on sales shoes were definitely all mixed up and not separated by size or by style. The fitting room in that section was falling apart. The door would not close properly. We actually came in to pick up an online order. The door we walked in from had a sign noting that online pick up was at the "At Your Service" area, but there were no further signs pointing to which direction it was. We walked around and around for over 15 minutes. Some people were trying to be helpful, some looked annoyed I even asked for direction. It was actually located at the exit closest to the Starbucks within the swim and Last Act section. I got the clothing I ordered, which looked nothing like pictured, and actually had some loose threads and a frayed patch, so I just turned around and returned it. This Macys has such potential. It is an anchor store at Willowbrook mall with a multitude if entrances. When you walk in it always smells good, and you are greeted by a wonderful aroma whether it is perfumes or just a floral scent. It is always clean, orderly and well stocked. So why not 5 stars you ask. The customer service could use some help. This is my second time doing an online pick up, and they do not know how to smile. I had the same woman both times - young, thin, long dark hair, maybe Latina. She will not smile and seems labored when asking you how can she help. She is efficient enough but her energy is off. But she is not what motivated me to write today. There was a table set up with pastries and drinks, that I totally walked by and did not notice. I had to navigate through a group of about 4 women to get to the online pickup across from lingerie. As I was waiting for my package to be retrieved O hear the loudest (blobde) ask a customer was she here for the party. I turn Round and walk to the aisle and notice the set up. One of the group members was standing about 5 ft from me distracted by her purse. When another customer came in she asked her about the party, so I realized she was a host as well. I picked up my package and passed by again to leave. That's 3x I was in their area and they never greeted me or invited me to their party. Now I was dressed down because I was coming straight from the gym and wanted to take care if this pickup. I guess I was not worthy of an invite. I think this is your pretty typical Macy's...lots of cosmetics as you walk in with clothes and shoes for the entire family and then furniture, bedding and home upstairs. I love the clearance racks at Macy's ad there's always some GREAT deals on pricey items. I was able to get a 3 day wardrobe of work outfits for around $100 including shoes. The clearance spaces can get really disorganized as well as changing rooms from customers leaving things lying around but you just have ot be patient and dig through. They're also very efficient about returns with no questions asked and the sales associate are generally helpful in helping you find and get what you need. read more

I like Macy's stuff, but this place kinda sucks. One time I came around New Year's to do a return, and there was a long line and one person was ringing and the other was folding up returns. What? I worked in retail for many years, and you don't ignore customers to tidy up! Someone even asked if he could open and he said "nope." Later after we went in to the mall and then came back to exit, that guy WAS ringing, so it wasn't that he didn't know how to, but either he or the store manager are just jerks. Recently I went with my boyfriend to pick up a suit that had been tailored. The guy was new and had been left alone and had no idea where they kept the suits that had been tailored. He said "uh, are you guys in a hurry?" Well we don't want to wait a half hour for someone to come back from their break to pick up something we already paid for, no. We are in a hurry if that's what you mean. How many storage areas are there around the men's area. My boyfriend said to me, "this is why people pay more for suits -- the suit may be similar but they want good service." Moral of the story: after multiple occasion the customer service is pretty much dreadful. Online shopping for me! I might even start doing the returns online just to avoid coming in store. As soon as I walked into the area where the women's perfume is located, I was greeted by a young lady named Norella. I made sure to take note of her name via her name tag since no one else greeted me the way she did. She was efficient and effective in handling my transaction, and was even able to respond to question based on the women's shoes department, which I visited right after. Customer service is key to the survival of any business. I cannot say that I received the same in the other departments. Some of the employees at this store act as if you have to beg them for help. This four star review is based solely on the performance of Norella. Had it not been for her, I would honestly give this store 2-3 stars easily. read more

Jesus in the shoe department assisted me and was extremely patient with other ladies requesting help and getting the shoes for them. Went to pay and thankfully Jesus was at the register. For years, it's been a small dream of mine to own Kate Spade dishes. Her many patterns are simple, attractive, pretty, timeless and, unfortunately, expensive. Now that I'm engaged, I figured it would be the perfect time to indulge--when I can ask for them on my wedding registry! My fiance (hereby known as FI) and I went here on a Saturday afternoon after spending too much time trying to decide on a store. We found the registry area and attempted to start an account, but the internet connection was faulty. A nearby employee offered help and acknowledged that the computer wasn't working and directed us to another one. OK, so why was the first one turned on and ready for someone to try to use? Eventually a very knowledgeable and friendly gentleman came over to help us get started on our registry and we were on our way. He mentioned that we could register for furniture, but by the time we got through housewares, we were tired and decided to add it later. Big mistake. FI called on a weekday afternoon to try to add furniture because the website would not allow us to do so online. He spent about an hour calling and trying to get through the company's many automated messages. A few times, he got through to an actual person, one of whom gave him the SAME phone number he had used to reach her. Not a single person could get him in touch with a competent person in either wedding registries or furniture. Maybe they just don't exist. We deleted our Macy's registry and added all of the items to a Bed Bath & Beyond registry instead. No problems registering for furniture there! :) read more

While this Macy's literally has WAAAAAY more merchandise and specialty areas such as their huge Backstage area, it is unfortunately a bit of a hot mess with sketchy and questionable customer service. I selected 3 different styles of boots and they only had my size in 1, however, the pair was clearly worn and returned and should've been salvaged out. I finally landed on a pair of shoes instead of boots and the box only had 1 shoe. The sales associate believed the mate was the display shoe but when I checked it was an entirely different size and thus my shoe was a loner and couldn't be sold. I was excited during my shopping time in Backstage and Last Act until I encountered the most miserable sales associate ever. When I asked her if I could be rung up at the register she literally ignored me. I decided to ask again to give her the benefit of the doubt and again, straight ignored. She then called someone else over to ring me out and proceeded to hold an entire conversation with her. There are plenty of other Macy's in the area that I will opt to visit instead of this location. read more

But unfortunately, This is the second pair which he have experienced premature ripping in various places after 6-8 months of use...Buffalo definitely have a great design but very poor quality material and the denim is too thin to sustain even the most casual use.. Tons of inventory due to the types of customers that shop here. I'm of course only speaking from the male perspective. If you're a fan of the RLX line, then this is where you go for deals. When they have promotions going on you should definitely stop here because selection is much broader compared to locations in Bergen County. There are downsides of course, uninspired associates, messy dressing rooms, limited parking, and a customer base that was not raised during the "please & thank you" era abound. To whom it may concern, I rarely write anymore these days but I wanted to recognize and recommend that someone in a position of authority go to this location and just do a walk through unannounced and casually watch this associate his name is Brian this is the first time I have ever done this and only witnessing his hard work after 5 different visits over the last month made me ask him the time just to get his name. Apologies but I wanted to know he deserves soo much and I feel that the recognition may not be seen but remember I don't know him at all. He does stock and fixes making the store more functional but if it was I personally there is more to this guy I know maybe it's a stretch but he's a STAR and I just want to say this. If I could give zero stars I would. Husband and I went to this location as we are looking for couches for our new home. Immediately a sales associate was on top of us. We explained we wanted to look around and we'd let her know if we needed help. She kept on us constantly, an hour went by and I can't even tell you what I liked because she wouldn't stop pushing us. It was beyond frustrating, and annoying. She then had the nerve to say, I'm leaving in 15 minutes so what do you like? Uhm I don't even want to give you my business because you were so damn annoying.
