Bought an sks with writing on the stock I had not a clue how to decipher the the writing, not only did the owner clean the cosmoline but went out of his way and found out what was written on the stock. The actual price I was charged for the cleaning and stock replacement, so not to damage the unique one on it, was less than the quote for the job. A gentleman who is in the right business. Personable, honest, knowledgeable, and fair minded. As I'm a quadriplegic I can't do my own gun work anymore such as clean cosmoline or break anything beyond field stripping. I'm grateful to God for guiding me to such a good man. In my humble opinion. read more

Dropped off my M92 with my ATF paperwork to install a stock on it. Great craftsmanship and quick turn around time. The owner is a big AK-47 fan so I let him shoot the rifle and he talked about it for a bit. Neat place with friendly folks. read more

Hi, my name is Chris Baker, I'm the owner of MAD Custom Arms. Since I was a little boy, I was fascinated by firearms. But only in the mechanical since. How it works, seeing all those tiny parts co-mingling to create the ultimate personal satisfaction and aroma therapy. As a little boy, I tried to learn as much as I could about the design and function of as many firearms that I could get access to. and of course, my family and friends would allow me to take it apart. Since those days, I tried to expand my knowledge from whomever would allow me to look over their shoulder to learn as much as they would graciously give me. Now, I own my own company, play with firearms every day, and I get to manufacture firearms for my customers and, of course, continue my passion of what I love to do.

The owner himself told me he had lost a cerakoting guy but that it would be about a month for him to do it. He went on to describe how he'd use clay in the fluting to accomplish this. Great I told him I don't really care about the two barrels, but I want the bolt back for hunting season. A month would've been October 15. I called to check on this in early November and was told there's nothing listed beside my name. But that it should almost be done. Today nine weeks later after I originally dropped it off I went into the shop to see how things were going. The owner proceeded to tell me that he really only likes to do simple stuff, but that he could call somebody to see if they'd be interested in doing this. Are you freaking kidding me? It would've taken two minutes to give me a phone call to tell me that you didn't want to do this anymore. Instead, I've gotta find out halfway through gun season that the project isn't even started? Wow just wow.

MAD is the ONLY place I trust for repairs on my firearms that I can not do myself. The service has always been top notch and the quality of work is amazing. The smallest details are never overlooked and the owner goes out of his way to make sure the customer is happy. I was restoring a SKS to it's original military configuration and needed a new front sight assembly with intact bayonet mount to replace the sporterized one that was on the rifle. Not only did MAD do a fantastic job repairing a poorly installed front sight (broke two titanium drill bits!) but even dug through his parts to find the bayonet mounting screw I needed, cleaned it and blued it to match the rifle!! You will not find that level of commitment anywhere else, I guarantee it! read more

Chris can be relied upon for various types of enhancements to your firearm collection. From specialty work, such as customizations, repair of firearms that have developed problems, and restoration/preservation. He's a full-service gunsmith, but can also work on oddity type weapons as well. His background includes work for our military at Fort Bragg, and he's very humble to the level of proficiency he has. He can also be very practical and give good advice that you may not have considered when making customizations and modifications to your weapon. It's also important to note, that his pricing is among the most reasonable and certainly a great value for the quality of work that he does. read more

Chris the gunsmith is top notch, and would run circles around any Military Firearms specialist I know ( and I served 21 years and had 5 duty stations ) Think machinist who can fix and modify your firearm..... and YES he's that good. This is a full service shop, he can machine, re-barrel, modify, refinish, replace stock, you name it ( all within ATF regulations of course LOL ) Bottom line where others (unnamed so called gunsmiths) have lied to me. Been a customer for the past five years. Easily the best full service gunsmith in the area. Well worth the drive if coming from Fayetteville. I recommend my friends and coworkers to see Chris whenever they want custom work done to their firearms. Chris and his shop have done amazing work on several projects to get include two of my AR's and two of my pistols. I recently had one of my pistols cerakoted and it looks amazing. If you're looking to have some custom work or even a simple repair done, Chris is the go to guy. read more

I'll say this one time. You need help with a firearm but can't seem to find the right smith well Chris at mad customs gots you! Let's just say he's a wizard with the craft and his sorcery will put a smile on your face everytime lol. Seriously though he knows his stuff through and through and I believe if he can't fix it then it is not broke and if you can think it up he could probably make it happen as long as you have your certs and L's. read more

I just met Chris today and was very impressed with his knowledge. I called a couple of days ago and asked him about a problem with a new rifle I had purchased. He was genuinely concerned and invited me to bring it in so he could look at it. He took the rifle broke it down and repaired the problem in about 5 minutes. What a great guy. If you need a gunsmith he is the man you need to see. read more

The owner Chris, fixed my SKS today and in the process spotted another problem I hadn't even noticed and fixed that too and then charged me less than I expected! The man really knows his trade.
