I checked the prices…read moreon the website and saw that it was $18 from 1:00 to 4:00 so that is when I planned to go, because I didn't have much time anyway. As it was I got there a little after 2:00 and was eager to get out on the slopes. When I got my ticket I was charged $25 and when I questioned it I was told that the $18 rate didn't start until 3:00 and I would have to speak to the manager, John (I think it was). I tried to find him and in the end they had to radio for him. Finally he showed up and said they would charge me $18 but he didn't seem too happy about it and didn't apologize about the website being incorrect. I said "well it did say it was $18 at 1:00 on the website". He said something like "well I'm giving you the $18 rate aren't are." He wasn't apologetic and seemed really unhappy that he had given me the lower rate. I don't think this is good customer service. I love to come up to Bayfield for the weekend because there are a lot of cool things to do so we try to cram a lot in. This makes time tight. Next time I may skip Mt Ashwabay and go somewhere else instead.

Scott took my 6 yo nephew and another boy from the group and patiently coached them enough to take the chair lifts up to the easiest green slope successfully. I felt like Scott knew exactly what he was doing the whole time. Steve & Tim were also very good and helpful with the older kids. After ski school, we went on the slopes but stuck to the easy greens & played on the tubing hill. It was a blast! Afterwards, hit the bar for some hot chocolate & beer. What a great first time experience! I can't wait to come back for the other slopes & cross country skiing!

My son doesn't know how to swim and just needs extra time one on one with someone It is already prepaid. His reply to me in email-so my son doesn't meet the qualification below because he is disabled? "Private swim lessons are available for children and adults who would like individual instruction to further their swimming ability and/or for those whose schedules do not fit our regularly scheduled lessons. All Private Lessons are taught by a Red Cross Certified Instructor." I donated my time to the Rec Center as a volunteer to help them fundraise for their wheelchair lift and hot tub repair. He either needs a refresher in how to treat folks with disabilities equally or have someone else connect with me. The former director, Scott Armstrong would have never.

We had a great time on a private sailing charter for our group of 6. They happily accommodated our…read moretwo kids and taught our 3-year-old to steer the boat (which he loved!). They were very flexible when it looked like bad weather on our scheduled date and accommodated us another time when the sun and wind were more favorable. Our captain, Dusty, was wonderful. This is a really fun small race. Probably doesn't get the attention it deserves because it…read moretypically is run about the same time as the Chicago marathon. Run on an old railroad line, the course is straight as an arrow (with the exception of the beginning and end). Because it runs towards the lake, it is also slightly downhill from start to finish. The course is mostly crushed gravel (which can take some getting use to running on). Although running in the fall colors is beautiful, there is very little crowd support along the course. The support stations along the way are very well staffed and have all the necessities / goodies a marathoner would want. Finisher medal is above average, and you get a zip windbreaker at the finish line. Highly recommend this race. Note: My comments are based on the 2014 race. Note2: There is also a half marathon associated to this event.
