Finding a church that balances deep theology with a genuine sense of community can be tough, but…read morethis place nails it. From the moment you walk in, it's clear that biblical teaching is the priority; the sermons are challenging and rooted in scripture, never watering down the truth for the sake of trends. What makes it feel like home, though, is the pastoral staff. They are incredibly approachable and actually take the time to know your name and story. You aren't just a face in the crowd; you're someone they genuinely care for. The small group ministry is a huge standout. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, they offer groups based on personal interests. They offer Wed night adult service that focuses on learning more about the history and teaching of the Bible. For parents, the kids' programs are a total lifesaver and a joy for the children: Mother's Day Out and Wednesday Night Groups that keep the kids engaged mid-week with age-appropriate lessons that aren't just "babysitting." If you're looking for a church that is serious about the Bible but equally serious about loving people well, this is the spot.

Be very careful with this church. It has appearances of being biblical, but it is more of lip…read moreservice to the Bible without actually following its teachings. Many of the sermons are filled with the pastor's personal stories and experiences. Scripture is always read at the beginning of the service but sometimes the sermon has nothing to do with the text. This church is about growing as large as possible and asking for money. They share the Gospel every Sunday, which is good, but the pastor almost always talks about giving tithes, especially when they are falling behind their projected income. They say it's for the Lord, but they have extravagant events such as all-free steak and potato dinners for the men, entertainment, or games (but the ladies have to pay for their own meals at their events) and paying down their debt to expand. Their $3million+ budget is purposely hidden in terms of staff because they don't want people to know how much the senior pastor makes. It is supposedly an elder-led church, but the senior pastor seemingly makes all the decisions. Unless you go to Sunday School with one of the elders or go out of your way to talk with them, they probably won't know who you are. All this to say, be careful with investing your time, energy, and money at this church. But many people are very comfortable here.

It made me very uncomfortable and I felt like it was directed at me almost. Also they teach a heretical doctrine known as once saved always saved. The same Sunday school teacher said once you're saved, you'll never lose your salvation REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU DO. That is an abominable heresy to say the very least. Yes,like the other review said they are very cultish.

I have a feeling women are also not allowed jewelry or makeup or even hair cutting. I'm very conservative and Bible based but these people are just really really weird and bizarre. With new people moving to Huntsville looking for a church, be warned. This place gave me the creeps. My skin crawls just thinking about it. You will be expected to be at service rain, shine, black ice, tornadoes. They even brag about it. This church is their salvation. This church is not for the weak of heart. Very bizarre place.

But culturally: it's wrong to isolate a child from his parents. I have no idea what he said: but he was rude. He had no business talking to me. Culturally, I'm from a more foreign family-oriented culture: this US pastor is one of many my culture has come to associate with home wreckers and family-splitters. He's single, locked into his peculiar life-style, and has no concept of what greases the wheels of families. We left. Eventually. On the surface: a decent place. With the exception of one administrator that stepped out of bounds, it was an 'okay' experience. ***************************************************************** As to local culture: some southerners gave my mother weird looks. As a child: I was fairly insulated and protected; so southerners didn't bother me none. Something about kids they know not to bother or discomfit. After 20 years: I thought back to how some of the southern women looked down their nose at her, and I decided I don't like the area. My mother's comfort is of first and primary concern to me, so it's a no brainer, we can't visit here again (I might be able to travel through alone as they seem not to look too closely or even care if I do). Had a similar repeat experience in VA where they looked at my mother funny, so I can cross that area off my places-to-visit-again list. I wasn't angry then, but maybe I should have been: she's a good person. After my grandparents died, my father, too, I notice more when people try to take an emotional dump on my remaining parent: it irritates me.
