He takes the time to meet days before the session to outline the process, pick out the setting and give wardrobe recommendations. When we arrived at the location, we were greeted with a smiling face and had such a relaxed atmosphere that it didn't feel like we were taking pictures at all. It was such a pleasant experience. His eye for setting and ability to capture moments when we were laughing and just being us were spot on for what we were looking for. And the thing about Rory is, that wasn't even the best part. I am a writer and my first book (a YA novel) is coming out in the fall. I didn't want to include my pic on the book, but the publisher insisted. He also insisted on a professional pic. I chose Kelly after seeing her great Yelp reviews. And she has earned all the praise, and more! Even before I met her for the photo shoot, she was awesome-- kind, responsive, helpful, warm (and sometimes it's hard to be all that just over email). We ended up meeting at Overlook Park in GT for the shoot, and she encouraged me to bring an extra outfit if I wanted to change (b/c I got 2 different poses). Not only is she just as nice, warm, kind, gracious, and attentive in person, she is incredibly skilled as well. She put me at ease SO quickly (I was SO nervous, y'all!! I'm a writer b/c I want to stay hidden in my words...i don't want pics of me!), and before I knew it, I was actually having fun!! I couldn't believe it. That is a gift Kelly has, knowing what each person needs and then being able to adapt accordingly. I'm so grateful I met her. So the shoot was great, but then I got the proof gallery with SO many shots I loved (it was hard to select just 2, much to my amazement...I had thought I'd have trouble picking one b/c I typically hate pics of myself). So that process was awesome, and then she sent me the edited shots and I marveled at her great skill as an artist. Really, she has such an eye for the art of photography at every single level. I am so happy with the pics, and my publisher is too (and I've gotten compliments on them from others on social media, etc.). Yay and thank you, Kelly! I am telling all my writer friends about you, and you will be the only photographer I will ever call. We found Kelly online by accident and are so thrilled that we did! We met with Kelly to go over budget and our vision for our pictures at the beginning of the year. Not only did Kelly work with our budget but she drove down to Houston (where we live and work like crazy) to take our engagement pictures! She helped us with our unique vision for those pictures and the results were amazing! For our wedding Kelly came early and stayed late. She put up with the heat and got every shot we wanted, all by herself. She wrangled our family and friends and was friendly but professional the whole time. She worked well with our videographer, whom she had never met. WIthin 24 hours she had sneak peeks of our pictures up- and when I say sneak peeks, I mean 160 beautiful, perfect pictures ready to go! The rest are supposed to be ready within the month. I can't wait to see what she has for us! Now I have hired some good photographers over the years, but Mr. Matthew Chambers is the best Photographer I have had since I took W. H. Illingworth out to the Black Hills back in 1874. I have asked my Miss Libby to sit for a photograph by Mr. Matthew. I wanted something spicy I could take with me out on the plains. However, Miss Libby is just too shy to sit for a picture these days. She says she don't look as fetching as she used to now that she's a Ghost. Brian and Amanda really care about their craft and will not take pictures in certain weather, if the baby isn't having a good day etc as they are true professionals who care about their craft and not just about making a dollar. When getting married, the one thing I wanted to make sure I had more than anything was beautiful, true-to-life pictures of the wonderful patchwork of family and friends that would likely never be together in the same room in the same combination again. Not only did Zach deliver photos more gorgeous than I could've imagined, I had zero stress about it in the run up to the event. It was fantastic to be able to talk candidly to Zach about what I wanted and feel heard. I wish this was the case with all wedding vendors! Zach shot our engagement and wedding photos on the San Antonio Riverwalk. We talked before hand and I told him I'm not a staged pinterest-y bride, but I wanted beautiful candid shots with bold, bright colors, and he did not disappoint. I received hundreds of incredible photos back within two weeks of the event, and literally wept in an airport while looking through them because he was so able to capture the love and fun of our event. It was such a whirlwind night that there were parts I didn't even remember that I got to see waiting for me in the photos. He did an incredible job prioritizing the people that matter to us so I could see in my family's faces how they were feeling. He caught all the important moments and then some, and we even threw in a dog and some children to make his job hard, and he handled it all with aplomb. If you want to make sure your event is captured with the life and joie d'vive that accompanies real life, Zach's your dude. We had such an incredible time, and now I have the best pictures I could ask for to remind me of our big day forever. My family is all gaga over them, too, and there's so many lovely family pics, dance floor action pics, ceremony and engagement with perfect light, perfect colors, and feeling radiating through.
