Hard to find these around and it's nice to have a local spot that serves a good variety of them. They have a selection of different types that should please most peoples preferences. Service is quick and the empanadas taste great.

So good! Tried the Hamita, cheese & potato, and quinoa empanadas and all were great. A pack of 6 frozen to take& bake as well!

This place is delicious! The guy who cooks the empanadas takes your order as well and I believe he is the owner. He's very nice and suggested what we should order. I'm Cuban and we use chimichurri sauce just on meat, more specifically churrasco, so I was skeptical about eating it on an empanada. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they paired together. I would definitely be back here if I'm ever in Iowa city again.

After seeing my fellow Yelper's gush about this place, I was dying to try it out. A rainy day (and being in the neighborhood) I finally decided to take the plunge and swung by to pick up a package of frozen empanadas to take home and bake. First things first, the owner was wonderful and very helpful considering how indecisive I was. He made some great recommendations, and even offered a few tips for how to cook the empanadas at home to perfection (brush egg over them before baking for the perfect golden brown color, guys). I tried the BBQ Pork, Chicken, and Beef empanadas and thought they were all wonderful. I think my favorite was the BBQ Pork, but I'll definitely be making a return trip to check out the rest of the menu and grab some of their sauces. I think keeping a bag or two (or three...) in the fridge for busy week nights is going to be a new habit for me. Worth the stop!

Maestro Empanadas serves their empanadas two ways: hot out of the oven, or frozen take-n-bake. They do have a small table where you can sit and chow down, but the design is really intended to be a grab-n-go meal. I swing by Maestro Empanadas every so often to restock the empanada supply I keep in our home freezer... because since Maestro Empanadas popped up shop, "empanada supply" is now a real thing in our household! My favorite is the Quinoa Empanada and my husband loves the Breakfast Empanada so I always have a couple bags of those flavors and I mix in a couple others from the menu on occasion. They make for a quick and healthy snack or dinner when I serve them with a side salad. Pro tip: don't forget the sauce! The chimichurri is to. die. for.

Introduced my awesome unit to empanadas! The box barely lasted 30 seconds!

Truth be told I love Maestro Empanada and was happy to see their 3rd place award from this year's Top Chef Iowa City displayed in their shop. Frankly, they're #1 in my book. It's hard to pass by ME without stopping in when in Coralville. Then there's their foodtruck at the Farmer's Market. I've had all their empanadas and everyone of the flavors are standout. if I had to choose, breakfast, chicken, humita are my go-tos. Like all the fellow yelpers, the frozen packs are great to stock in your freezer!

I'm happy. Where else are you going to get empanadas in Iowa. Thanks for being here. Best of luck moving forward.

I've tried every empanada on the menu over two visits and they're all delicious. Good value for the money as well.

For my first visit I went with BBQ pork, breakfast sausage, cheese, chicken, and quinoa (my wife shared ok).

Fun place for apple-picking and buying delicious apple products (recommend the sparkling apple…read morecider and apple donuts). The orchard is huge, with plenty of room to roam and apple tree varieties to choose from, mostly honey crisp, but also crimson crisp, Jonagold, fuji, and gala. Admission is $5 per person and we paid $22 for a two-person you-pick peck. Which was more than enough for us! Cons: Parking was an issue (it was a weekend) with unclear traffic flow through the lot...and it became progressively more busy later in the day.

This was a most lovely orchard experience from start to finish. I began with a visit inside the…read morefarm market, which had fresh apples; frozen applesauce and pies; chilled apple cider + cans of their alcoholic ciders; and merchandise + gifts. Make your way to the register, and you can purchase donuts and turnovers as well as your u-pick bags. I made my apple turnover ala mode, which was worthwhile, and savored it outside overlooking the orchard. So picturesque! After my apple treat, I was ready to pick and made my way to the orchard. Expect some hill climbing and pretty scenery between the apple trees and flower fields. I imagine the trek could be more challenging for families with young ones. Wilson's boasts 100 varieties of apples, one of the reasons I visited the orchard in the first place. At the end of September, I filled my bags with two varieties I had never heard of, which was fun. The rows were well-marked with the apples that were ready for picking as well as the name of the variety. More importantly, the apples were delicious. Overall, I'm very happy I spent a morning here, and I imagine just about anyone else will feel similarly.
