As if it was fate, I read an article by San Diego magazine that mentioned the Red Spade Theater. I had never heard of it before, but with an affordable ticket price, I thought why not? I pre-ordered the tickets online and we enjoyed the most magical evening with Sebastian! There is plenty of parking in the area and it's easy to access. The theater is so small and intimate. There were maybe 20 people in the audience with us and everyone had a chance to participate in the show. Now, I'm kind of a skeptic. I was trying to pay attention to all the different spots on the stage. When he'd tell us to look at the cards, I'd look at his hands or the table, but he wasn't giving anything away. After seeing Sebastian, I have to believe that magic is real. I swear things just disappeared right in front of my eyes. It was an incredible show. This is truly one of the best possible date nights in San Diego. This show was incredible and Sebastian is so talented. I'm in awe!

Last Friday night I took my hubby out for an evening to get an early start on his birthday. Our evening started at the small wine bar next door. It is a cute bar with friendly owners. There, we got a couple glasses of wine to start off the night, when the magician came in to start a few tricks at our table. He made his way around to all of the couples in the bar. We then brought our wine into the small theater. it looked like there was room for about 30 people, but our show had only 8 people. We filled the front row. The show was very crowd interactive, and I found myself on stage immediately. I realized that the magician had been interviewing people in the bar in order to be able to talk about them in the show. With an audience of 8, we were definitely able to participate quite a bit. It was mostly card and slight of hand. I appreciate how close up everything was, and thought he did a really good job. All in all, it was a fun show, and an interesting way to spend an evening. Perhaps I'll return after a while and enjoy the show again sometime. At $32, you can't beat the price. It made for a fun date night.

Every step of the way, she kept us hooked with fun facts and unique details that brought the history and culture of the area to life. From the splurgy origin of the term "sugar daddy" to the hidden party basements under pubs (once used for disco clubbing and even underground food truck pop-ups), Isabella made sure the tour was full of surprises. I loved learning about the Emerald Building and its jewel connection, the Horton Hotel's Austrian-inspired design, and the San Diego Convention Center's architecture inspired by a wave breaking over a cruise ship. Her storytelling was so engaging that the city felt like a living, breathing character itself. Isabella's enthusiasm is contagious, and she truly makes you fall in love with San Diego all over again. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the city (or even locals wanting to see it with new eyes). I can't wait to read her book when it's published, if it's anything like her tours, it'll be the "finest" book from the "finest" city!

I showed up at 222 Fifth St. location around 10:25AM and there was nobody from SD Free Walking Tours, nor any walking tour guests there. I did not receive any notification communications about any changes (email, SMS, or phone call). When I tried to contact info@sdfreewakkingtour.com, the email bounced. Calling their phone number goes to voicemail. Overall not a pleasant experience, maybe they are having a bad day? A bit more organization (eg: more specificity regarding the meeting point, some kind of hat or umbrella to help identify the tour operator) or communication regarding unexpected tour cancellation would result in a better customer experience. Sorry for the poor review, I may update it once I receive clarification and an explanation regarding what happened.

Had a planned trip to SD to visit family. Party of 3 kids, 8 adults luckily we purchased tickets at pre-sale price. We arrived 10mins before 7pm (opening time) on a Sunday. The line was getting longer, thankfully we were the 3rd party in line we didn't wait long and the safe worked fast and efficiently. As soon as 7pm rolled around they opened their gates. They checked bags and used hand held metal detectors. The staff were nice. There were so many beautiful decorations. As soon as the sun came down it was even more beautiful with the lights. I imagined these murder mystery dinners to be Sherlock Holmes-esque, dark and mysterious...but instead this was quite the opposite. We came here on a 80's theme 'Til death do us part' series and the setting was straight out of a cheesy, tacky 80's theme prom night and I loved every second of it. The actors are hilarious and quite talented as each would play more than one role. I laughed so much during the entire show. While I would have hated to be one of the chosen ones from the audience to participate in the show, it was really fun and funny to see audience participation. Everyone was a good sport about it and it made it that much more memorable. But, I'm so glad I was out of reach to be called upon. Service was great. Food was edible, but who's there for the food anyway. It was my birthday and they made sure to embarrass me by having everyone sing Happy Birthday to me. (thanks, guys - I hate you). The actors and actresses all put on a great show and allow you to take photos with them at the end. Overall, it was a really fun night and would definitely recommend it.
