I'd say it's definitely worth $10 to looking around and admire Michael Garman's work. I've never seen anything like it. The sceneries are creative and there is a scavenger hunt you can partake in for an extra $5. I didn't do the scavenger hunt so I spent around 20 minutes going through everything. read more

My husband and I had such a great time here! We were warmly greeted by a very knowledgeable clerk and given some background information about the artist. Once we entered the museum we were blown away by the displays! Scattered throughout was more history about the artist and photos of the famous people that have been gifts his work. Simply amazing. Not only did Michael Garmin capture the people, animals, buildings, and interiors perfectly, but he also created stories you can discern simply from examining the details of each scene. Many of the rooms incorporate Pepper's Ghost effects to change from one scene to another (hence the "magic") and carefully positioned mirrors extend alleys into the distance. It would take hours to fully enjoy every detail, but even a brief visit is definitely worth the stop!. read more

This is truly a unique CO Springs experience. I found this last weekend when looking for things to do with my boyfriend while I visited from out of town. He has lived in the Springs practically his whole life and never knew this place existed. So we come on Saturday and had a great time! Magic Town offers 2 scavenger hunts. A free one that is shorter-- about 4-5 items to find, and then a $5 scavenger hunt that is 7-8 items, and a cool prize at the end!! We done both and spent a good hour in there! The facility was well kept, and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for good, clean fun! read more

This is a place that can easily be overlooked. It's a nice gem of a place smack dab in old Colorado Springs area. Let me start of by saying that the staff here are FRIENDLY! Even the man sculptor himself made an appearance and was a very nice man. So what's special about this place? Well the storefront showcases his work, which is awesome by the way. But the piece de resistance is magic town ($7 surcharge) which encapsulates his work into segmented themes. I love how he incorporated technology and mirrors to give it a vibrant and living neighborhood. If you're thinking " oh okay, it's cool to look at but is that all?" Then the answer is NO They integrated participation and art all into a ingenious scavenger hunt. You turn from a passive art admirer to a detective hunting down the scavenger clues. There are 4 tiers of the scavenger hunt: the free one included with your admission and 3 premium tiers ($5, $10, and $20) which is nice way to get people involved. Each tier had multiple hints so that you all aren't hunting for the same thing. I did the $5 one and there were some TRICKY ones. But the vibe is awesome and everyone tries to help everyone out. Even if you're stuck, you can go to the front desk and get a hint. All in all, it turned a 15-20 minute experience into over an hour of trying to comb over every nook and cranny of Magic Town. This is a must just based on unique sculpting and awesome scavenger hunt read more

Okay, so Magic Town has always been kind of an oddball shop in Manitou Springs. They sell work by Michael Garman which is not bad, but not my taste. The lower stars is simply because they charge quite a bit for the "museum" portion and it feels kind of dated inside. read more

Certainly spend time winding yourself around and peaking down the alleyways the intricate forced perspective and changing rooms are fascinating. It was so fun I even Bumped into the sculptor! This place is a great place to visit in Colorado Springs. It is fun and cool for adults and kids. Its small but you can easily spend hours enjoying the art and doing the scavenger hunt which is a must. The scavenger hunt can be challenging and it's easy to miss some of the items, you have to carefully look at all the art pieces. You work alone because everyone gets a different list. On a good note if worse comes to worst you can get clues from the girl at the front desk and still get a prize if you complete the hunt. I will definitely visit again when I'm in Colorado. This place is pretty awesome. When my roommate initially suggested coming here, I was like sure, whatever. I ended up loving it! It's a 3,000 square-foot miniature city constructed by Michael Garman (he began working on it in 1975). The level of detail is astounding. Walk around, peep into windows. Not only are the characters/scenes super detailed but there are some surprises as well (holograms, mirror/light illusions). Super cool. There's a Yelp check-in deal for free admission but the employees seemed surprised as if no one has ever used it before. Maybe just pay the meager $5 admission fee if you're not super broke like me right now. They have two scavenger hunts available. There's a free one and one that costs a few bucks but if you win, you get a discount on souvenir statues. It definitely encourages you to look into every window! Friendly service. read more

Cute little place. It's very small but has a ton of very cool and intricate dioramas. They have a bit of an "interactive" sense since there's lights and changing images in some of them. This place was awesome!! If you're trying to find things to do in Old Colorado City, take an hour and pop in to Magic Town. It's like stepping into a full old city dollhouse with changing scenes and holograms. The artistry and creativity was one of a kind - a dying art - everything is hand carved with absolutely amazing details. So much fun for the kids - they give you a scavenger hunt when you pay admission (which was like $3/person on a Sunday). If you find everything on the scavenger hunt (which they're more than happy to give hints for) they give you a fun little prize in your way out. Magic Town was really fun! We ended up there because we were at the Ghost Town museum nearby and had to kill some time before we could check into our hotel. The little down town area was cute, and parking was easy. The ladies working were very nice, and the scavenger hunt was a fun way to interact with the town. I just found the whole thing fascinating. Someone took the time to build this whole town, with 3 different levels of detail. Some of the apartments changed when the lights went out. What sorcery is this?! We liked the videos, too. It must've taken the guy forever to make this town! Really fun, cheap, and one free admission when you check in on yelp. You have nothing to lose. Check it out! read more

Visit date: 11/25/2016 This museum pops up when you want to see some of the more "unusual" attractions in the area. When I searched for "oddities" in the area this popped up but there is nothing "odd" about this place. Magic Town is an attraction located within the Michael Garman Museum. For some people that name may not seem familiar but his works sure are. Once you look up his work you will quickly recognize the genius behind the artwork. When you first arrive at the museum you are greeted with what appears to be a regular store/gallery selling Michael Garman products.... Until you step into Magic Town. You need to pay admission to enter Magic Town but for the fee is nothing compared to the experience you get when you walk through this museum. I won't go into detail about the creation of this museum since it's part of the experience as you walk through. All I can say is this truly is a magical little town. We spent about 1 hour walking through and I could have stayed longer. While I was appreciating the time and effort that went into this masterpiece I started to notice all of the very small details that went into creating the town. The various scenes throughout the town, the different people, the holograms, the back alley shenanigans..... It's a lot to take in with only a short visit. Take the time to look at everything.... It's worth it! By the way, when you pay for admission, ask about the scavenger hunt game that you can play while walking through the town. You will feel even more connected with the town and you may feel like you're actually walking through the town. It's that much fun!!!! I took a bunch of pictures and had a very difficult time deciding which ones to post since there were so many. The few I picked are just a small sample of what you can see. This is one of those places that, if you don't look closely, you'll miss it. But I really hope you don't miss it, because this place truly is magical. For the very small price of $5 for an adult ticket, you can have access to an extraordinary collection of a true artist's work. I noticed that some of the comments said that the collection is raunchy in some ways, but the artist is not depicting America in 2020, but rather the 50's and 60's, so it's important to keep that in mind when questioning his works. I was so pleased to actually meet the artist, Michael Garman, today at the museum; it really puts it into perspective on how much the human mind is capable of. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone that can actually appreciate art of a time long gone. I know I do! read more

Lots of fun! It's easy to get lost in the scenes and visual illusions of this sculpted city. The level of detail is incredible, and the figures are so expressive you might even find yourself feeling sorry for some of the ones who are down on their luck. We enjoyed doing the scavenger hunt, looking for answers to questions hidden inside rooms or on the sides of buildings. The creator has an interesting backstory too. This was a very interesting way to spend an hour or two. I'm not sure that children are able to take in or appreciate the art and history of all the work in Magic Town. It is truly a hidden gem. When you walk into the store, you don't have a clue about going on a scavenger hunt through the town of amazing art and tricks and holographic images. Adorable little stop! Admission is $5/person but they offer small military and college discounts. The scavenger hunt was pretty difficult which made the exhibit even more entertaining. We took our family there yesterday. We have 4 kids (one is an infant), and we all had a good time. The staff was friendly and courteous. We did the $5 scavenger hunt and our kids had a blast looking for all the different things. The attention to detail is amazing! There are couches to sit on and gaze at the town, or you can get up close and really examine the people, animals, and all the nuances that you'd find in a big city.
