My husband and I had such a great time here! We were warmly greeted by a very knowledgeable clerk and given some background information about the artist. Once we entered the museum we were blown away by the displays! Scattered throughout was more history about the artist and photos of the famous people that have been gifts his work. But the absolute best part for me was Magic town and the movie theater in the middle of "town"! There's a small entry fee but it is well worth the money to walk through this museum!

Unbelievably intricate miniature world. I could have spent hours here looking at the touching, funny vignettes.

Simply amazing. Not only did Michael Garmin capture the people, animals, buildings, and interiors perfectly, but he also created stories you can discern simply from examining the details of each scene. Many of the rooms incorporate Pepper's Ghost effects to change from one scene to another (hence the "magic") and carefully positioned mirrors extend alleys into the distance. It would take hours to fully enjoy every detail, but even a brief visit is definitely worth the stop!.

This is truly a unique CO Springs experience. I found this last weekend when looking for things to do with my boyfriend while I visited from out of town. He has lived in the Springs practically his whole life and never knew this place existed. So we come on Saturday and had a great time! Magic Town offers 2 scavenger hunts. A free one that is shorter-- about 4-5 items to find, and then a $5 scavenger hunt that is 7-8 items, and a cool prize at the end!! We done both and spent a good hour in there! The facility was well kept, and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for good, clean fun!

It was a lot of fun! Little bit cramped when they let a lot of people in. But it was so detailed. The scavenger hunt was actually my favorite part and really worth the work. My Josh was SO excited because he hadnt been there since he was a kid and it was a pleasure to meet Mr Michael Garman himself still alive and snappy. It was a great treasure!

Look inside you can even see the movie playing!

I've lived in Colorado since 1972 can't believe I've never been through this museum! What a fun place! It's well worth a stop in Old Colorado city. Certainly spend time winding yourself around and peaking down the alleyways the intricate forced perspective and changing rooms are fascinating. It was so fun I even Bumped into the sculptor! And spent a while spinning yarns with the gal upfront about old college days. Don't miss this it's not too far off I 25.

This place is a great place to visit in Colorado Springs. It is fun and cool for adults and kids. Its small but you can easily spend hours enjoying the art and doing the scavenger hunt which is a must. The scavenger hunt can be challenging and it's easy to miss some of the items, you have to carefully look at all the art pieces. You work alone because everyone gets a different list. On a good note if worse comes to worst you can get clues from the girl at the front desk and still get a prize if you complete the hunt. I will definitely visit again when I'm in Colorado. It was definitely fun and entertaining.

Great local museum detailing the history and life of Colorado Springs and its environs…read more The museum has a variety of exhibits which tackle this from a variety of angles -- famous authors, local Native Americans, the Springs as a tuberculosis treatment center, pottery art, women's art, local tattoo art, the history of the city by decade, the history of a lost Latino neighborhood, etc. All is curated and presented in an interesting fashion -- there was some but very little of the "We don't have a lot to say about this person, so here's random biographical detail filler" sort of local museum content. The breadth of presentation extended to a potpourri "A-to-Z" exhibit with bits of info about a wide variety of topics (did you know that Lon Chaney was from Colorado Springs?). We easily spent three hours touring the exhibits, and I count the time well spent. The building is the former El Paso county courthouses and offices, and is truly lovely. One of the courtrooms has been preserved as an exhibit. Staff was friendly. Admission is free (though donations are encouraged).

The cliff dwellings are incredible to see up close. They're modeled after ancient Ancestral Puebloan structures (often associated with Southwest tribes like the Navajo), and walking through them really gives you a sense of how people lived long ago. One thing that stood out to me was seeing how small the doorways and rooms were -- it really shows how much shorter people were back then! What I loved most was the self-guided audio tour you can use on your phone. As you walk through, you just select the number for each section and it explains the history and significance of that area. It was super informative and easy to follow, and I liked being able to go at my own pace. I love history, so being able to take my time and really listen made the experience even better. The gift shop is huge and honestly impressive. They had beautiful handmade items inspired by Native American craftsmanship, along with the usual souvenirs like stickers, books, and t-shirts. But they also had unique items like jewelry, coffee, honey, and so many locally inspired pieces. It's basically a full building packed with things to browse. Overall, I absolutely enjoyed this stop. It was educational, interesting, and worth the time. I would definitely come back -- and I might bring my husband next time when he has a day off. If you love history, this is a must-stop when you're in the area.

It's a cool peek into how folks lived back then, and there's no shortage of vintage eye candy. Some items are clearly marked with "Do Not Touch" signs. One wasn't--so naturally, my curious son gave it a go to see how it worked. A staff member walked by and, instead of gently redirecting, chose to loudly scold him in front of others. It was uncomfortable and felt a little over the top for a kid just being curious. Not exactly a warm, educational moment. We moved on quickly--but not before one of us made sure to gently touch one more thing, for good measure. The shooting gallery was a hit with the kids. Change machines are a surprisingly nice convenience. Gold panning? Fun to try, but we struck out. Informative movie? Worth sitting for. Gift shop? Cool stuff, but brace for sticker shock. All in all, it's worth a stop if you're into Old West history, but a little more grace from staff would go a long way in keeping the experience fun--especially for families.

We parked, unintentionally, in the back lower level, so entered through the "dungeon," where we met Kelly, the friendly, tiaraed Duchess of the Dungeon. We were early for our seating, so she regaled us with stories of her childhood adventures in the Castle, where she met "residents" (of the spiritual kind). I use a walker, and there is a back staircase equipped with a chair lift--a new experience for me, and much appreciated. The Queen's Parlor Tea Room was tastefully decorated for Halloween. My friend and I donned slightly outrageous hats before we were seated. The china is lovely, small arrangements of fresh flowers are scattered about, and the afternoon light was heavenly. Our server, Kayla, was delightful, dressed in Victorian style. We made our tea selection from the extensive menu: Pecan Caramel for my friend, and Chai for me. Both were delicious, and the tea pots hold four cups, so there's plenty to share. Light Victorian Tea is three courses: Scones, Savories, and Sweets. The selections vary day-to-day, but all is fresh and beautifully presented and delectable. The scones were of generous size and served right from the oven. Yum! We happened to have the room to ourselves, but Kayla didn't rush us. Instead, we were made to feel welcomed guests. The tiny powder room has the lowest toilet I've ever encountered anywhere, but luckily there's a grab rail. It was needed! At the end of our time there, I decided to descend the outside stairs rather than use the chair lift again. Another employee, Kate, obligingly carried my lightweight rollator down for me. Really, it's apparent employees are happy here, and love their Castle. And so did we. I can hardly wait to return.
