Even before high school, I used to come here as a kid and always found it to be a safe and comfortable environment. Bordered by Rivington Grove, Kennaway St and Stirling St, Tusmore Park has a number of great facilities. In the summer there is a wading pool for kids, there are two playgrounds plus a fenced area for extra security, public toilets, and a large grass area for sports. BBQ facilities are also available, as well as picnic areas. There is ample street parking, plus the park provides a lot of shade from surrounding trees. It is a beautiful park, complete with five (I think) free tennis courts as well. It does get busy, especially in summer and on weekends, so get there quick.

I used to come here a lot as a child and have many fond memories. Even in my older years I still frequent Tusmore Park for a spot of inner city landscape painting. There is a small wading pool for small children which is covered by a pergola for sun protection. The creek only really runs in the winter time and even then is quite shallow. There is a bunch of playground equipment as well as bbq facilities. The Hanson reserve provides a sizable patch of grass for ball games and the like. At the base of the reserve is a section reserved for the regrowth native vegetation, as well as a sort of little Forrest of older trees, which is great fun for kids to explore. The park gets quite busy on the weekends during summer, when lots of families have picknicks and bbqs. Probably best to get there early to ensure you get a spot.

It is fully fenced plus it has heaps of play equipment inside. Not just one or two things but a lot. Unfortunately there were kids on it so I couldn't get any closer pics but go there and see for yourself. There was a brand new nice looking drinking fountain. A georgeous undercover area with tables and chairs and new BBQ's that you would actually use without thinking twice. Bins nearby os you can keep it tidy. A lake with a huge water fountain in it that was constantly spurting up water. Plus there were heaps of birds and ducks here - so bring some bread with you and feed the birds. Plus another area with rubber flooring and exercise stations, but really really good ones. With instructions for each one. AND a pathway all the way around the area. Plus still heaps of nice grass space. Just make sure you watch the little ones with the water so close and no fencing to it. But there is great safety fencing with a proper gate for the playground area. Definitely a fantastic spot for day out. The only down side is it's kind of difficult an area for parking.

It has the standard slides and swings but it also has a seated metal flying fox, a climbing web and goal shooting pole which I haven't seen before. This actually works in quite nicely with the basketball hoop in the same area. It has BBQ and although I didn't see it, I'm sure there would be a drinking fountain somewhere. There weren't any sheltered table/chair areas but there are plenty of table/chair set and the entire area is delightfully spotted with trees so I don't think shade should be too much of an issue. There are paths connecting the basketball area to the playground area and the BBQs and tables sit in the middle. This is actually a really great area. There are lots of BBQ's, heaps of space, seating, shade, drinking fountains, lots of water area's / lakes with heaps of birds and ducks around so bring along some bread to feed them. There's walking or riding paths all the way around and through this reserve and it is really quite large. There's a reasonable playground area, fully fenced as well with more seating and shade over the Kew Drive side of the park. There is also a small block of shops right at the edge of the reserve. Nice place to spend a day and get a pizza or something from here if you don't want to bring a BBQ. Some awkward streets to get through but you can easily find parking around the park at various spots.

It is pretty convenient in that it is just across the road from the beach, and there are facilities here that one can use to change, or wash down. It was good though, just not what I thought it would be. It is however an Access For All playground so there's a ramp for those children in wheel chairs. This is a park designed for toddlers. And don't worry parents, the entire play area is rubber flooring so if they fall, they bounce lol. I really liked that the toilets are close by but wish there was more (or anything!) in the way of shade. There's a BBQ and a sheltered table/chair area just in front of the toilets. There's also plenty of room for running around on some pretty lush grass. I apologise for there being only one photo. And is very close to the playground area so you can still keep an eye on the kids and know they are close even when cooking. There's plenty of tree's around as well providing additional shade. Plus the entire area here is massive! There is so much room you could do anything. Plus it is entirely surrounded by streets so no houses except across roads. The area is nicely landscaped around the outsides and main area's with a fantastic conrete pathway all the way through the reserve. It's plenty wide enough too. Even has a little bridge in one spot. A really nice looking playground and space around it that would make a lovely day out. Just hope you don't need to go to the toilet!

We visited for Friday lunch watching the pros go round as we ate well cooked and presented steaks, which were priced fairly and cooked to order. Washed down with quality wine from an extensive wine list, it was a pleasant day hidden away from the rat race outside the gates. It has recently won awards as a wedding and function venue, worth a visit.

The best thing about Payneham Pool is that you can almost always get a lane to yourself for lap swimming (as long as you don't go during swim carnivals obviously), I like being able to rock up at my leisure and have a lane of my own. This place has enough room for kids and adults to swim and have a good day without fearing for their lives: this is not so much the case at the big leisure centres that are packed with madness and slides. The staff here are really nice (as you don't dive over the lane ropes, don't do that), and there's heaps of shaded grass areas to hang out in. It's a beautiful day and a nice relaxed vibe, dive on in.

I have had heaps of summer holiday days here with friends where the pool gives out fun equipment like inner tubes, beach balls, volleyball nets and floating mats. It's not too busy usually, and there is plenty of outside grass area with some benches to chill out. But bring the sunscreen because there isn't much shade. Now that the aquatic centre had been improved, as well as Marion swimming centre with watersides and more pools etc, payneham doesn't receive much attention, and it could use some upgrading itself.
